Sure, tennis thesedays isn't exactly a mainstream sport. Most people probably couldn't name five players. But I'm sure any true sports fan knows of Roger Federer. He has dominated tennis for the last few years, and is now the most dominant athelete in sports.

Please. Roger Federer is the most dominant player in Tennis, even though the competition isnt exactly full of McEnroe's...but not in ALL of sports. Players such as Shaquille O'Neal, Tiger Woods, The unlikeable Terrell Owens, and Randy Moss, Albert Pujols, Vladmir Guerrero, Barry Bonds, Floyd Mayweather Jr....the list goes on and on of players who are better suited for the title "most dominant athlete in all of sports"

Vladmir Guerrero? Randy Moss? Shaq? Those guys have all been great and still are pretty good. Shaq dominated basketball a few years ago. But now? He's older and not nearly as good. Anyone will tell you that. Randy Moss? How did he and his team do last year? Roger Federer is consistantly the best player in a one on one sport. He doesn't have a team to help him out when he has an off day. He has been called perhaps the best player of all time by numerous tennis legends, including John McEnroe.

the GOAT in all sports? I think not...Tennis is barely a real sport anyway. Federer dominated his sport, but Tennis doesnt quite compare to other sports in competitiveness. Federer dominates about of dandies. The other athletes I mentioned go against the best of the best every time, have entire teams focused on stopping them, yet they still dominate them. Federer is great in Tennis the same way Forrest Gump was great ping-pong player...great, yet, who cares?

I agree. However, he has struggled lately. Still, he dominates his sport like no one else in the world today.

This is a difficult question because Tennis, bowling, and ping pong are the only sports were it's truly 1 on 1. I would definitely lean toward team sport athlete because it's not just one person trying to stop a player it's 5 or 11. I might even give an edge to some of the ping pong players, talk about quick and focused in a ridiculously fast sport.

I'm not voting until the throwdown is over. I didn't like either side's argument yet. Federer is pretty dominant but against Nadal on clay he has no chance and sometimes loses to lesser-tier players that he's supposed to kill.

I saw someone say that ping pong, tennis and bowling are the only true one on one sports...ladies and gentlemen have we forgotten about the ultimate one on one sporting competitions...boxing and MMA...going in a ring with the sole purpose of trying to dominate the other individual all the while keeping from gassing out is by far the ultimate in one on one competetion...Federer is the most dominant athlete? Ummmm I think not...how about guys like the Champ mentioned, plus Mayweather Jr., Chuck Liddell, Fedor, etc.? Those men dominate their respective sports and don't do it in a sport where there's very little competition or any kind of fan following what so ever.

Tiger has done more domination in his sport than anyone. Tennis has had many greats, but nobody in Golf is even near Tiger Woods in levels of greatness.
