Joe Dew vs Mets Fan

Background: We had a fantasy draft with every NBA player available from this seasons roster. We had 14 people picking teams of 6 players, 5 Starters and 1 Bench man using the 08-09 Rosters of the nba teams. I picked at slot 10. So we are having a tournament to see who had the best team.

PG- Deron Williams
SG- Ray Allen
SF- Carmelo Anthony
PF- Pau Gasol
C- Elton Brand
6th- Andrei Kirilenko

PG: Steve Nash
SG: Michael Redd
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Antawn Jamison
C: Al Jefferson
6th man: Shawn Marion

Gasol and Brand are interchangeable at the Center position for my team. The Lakers run Gasol at the C but I think Brand is more suited for it. But it doesnt really matter right now since Brand is injured. Still a quality player when healthy and a 20 and 10 career guy as well.

When it comes down to injuries though you have me beat. Michael Redd and Al Jefferson are both out for the season and Shawn Marion just returned from an injury as well. I can slide Gasol over to the Center and move AK47 off the bench into the PF position, much of what he has done for the Jazz with Boozer out and coming off the bench for Paul Millsap.

Deron Williams > Steve Nash

Ray Allen > Injured Michael Redd

Carmelo Anthony > Kevin Durant

AK47 and Antawn Jamison, this is a close one

Pau Gasol > Injured Al Jefferson

How do you fit Shawn Marion into this! I guess in one of the injured guy places but then you would be forced to play someone out of position.

Antawn Jamison is on the Wizards whom are proudly holding onto that worst record in the League position right now. Thats something to be proud of.


Steve Nash is an unbelievable PG, but Deron Williams is better.

Allen beats Redd.

I strongly disagree with you about the Durant- 'Melo matchup. Carmelo Anthony is a good player, but Durant is just better.

Durant is a rising star, who showed the NBA world what is yet to come in the Rookie Sophmore game. He is on a hot streak right now, and is leading the Thunder this season and will for years to come. He is a better all around player than 'Melo.


Jamison vs. Gasol


Both of these guys are great. But, Antawn Jamison is the better all around player. He averages over 20 PPG, and over 9 RPG, and continues to lead a slumping Wizards team. Advantage- Jamison.



Jefferson vs. Brand

Elton Brand is not a Center. He is 6'9". He is very undersized at that position. Jefferson is a double double machine who can score and rebound. Before he got injured, Jefferson was averaging over 20 PPG and over 10 RPG. He is an amzing player. Advantage- Jefferson.


Marion vs. AK47 coming up next.


Durant vs Melo

You gotta be kidding me. This amazing game you refer too is the Rookie Sophmore Challenge. Then you say he is the best player on the Thunder, no duh. The 2nd best player is Russell Westbrook and is a ROOKIE.

Wow Carmelo Anthony wins 3 out of the 4 stats compared. He Scores more, at a higher percentage. He rebounds the ball more but shoots the three ball a little lower. I will take Carmelo. The Two time all star gets the Nod.

Once again when you break down the stats you can see that Gasol > Antawn. Gasol has 1 less point but does it at a higher shooting percentage and rebounds the ball more. Plus he is more effective from the Charity stripe.

Advantage Pau Gasol over Antawn Jamison

Thats 4 for me out of 6.


Shawn Marion vs. Andrei Kirilenko

Marion is a versatile player. He didn't get his chances on the Heat, but he's been playing very well on the Raptors, getting a Double Duble each game so far. He is a better scorer, rebounder, and player than AK47.

Durant vs. Melo (Once again)

Keep in mind that 'Melo has been playing since 2003, and Durant since 2007. So it would only be right to compare the players for their first two years.

Durant averages more PPG than Anthony did in his first two seasons. He also averaged more rebounds. Sounds like Durant has the advantage. Currently, Durant is faster, a better scorer, rebounder, and player than Carmelo Anthony.


Jamison vs. Gasol


Jamison averages a higher point total, as evident to your stats. He trails Gasol by .07 at RPG. He trails Gasol by .04 at FT%.

Jamison is a better rebounder and shooter than Gasol. Jamison will do whatever it takes to get the board. He has a bad FG% because he takes a lot of shots. Jamison can make a 3 point shot, unlike Gasol. Jamison is better.

Actually, it looks like I win 4-2.
