You have heard how this goes by now, we are starting another tourney after this. We will start with a draft first, just like the first time but will make it speedier this time as well. I will post the link to a blog so you can sign up.
Joe Dew vs Hyped
A fantasy draft was ran in NBA Fanz where We had 14 people picking teams of 6 players, 5 Starters and 1 Bench man using the 08-09 Rosters of the nba teams. I picked at slot 10. So we are having a tournament to see who had the best team.
Details of the tourney are here:
List First, arguments following
Here is my Team:
PG- Deron Williams
SG- Ray Allen
SF- Carmelo Anthony
PF- Pau Gasol
C- Elton Brand
6th- Andrei Kirilenko

So this is the Finals.
Bear in mind that we are arguing for the entire careers of these players, not necessarily this season.
I also would like to point out that Joe, my opponent, had his first draft pick before mine, as you can see in the tourney details. In fact, I was the dead last one to pick, from all the participants! (even though it was a snake draft)
Here's my team:
PG - Baron Davis
SG - Rip Hamilton
SF - Paul Pierce
PF - Carlos Boozer
C - Yao Ming
6th - Manu Ginobili
Arguments to follow.

And so the Championship round begins. This has been 3 months in the making. We started the draft back in December and rounding the people up to compete. Then when the draft finished and all the different people either dropped or dealt with me have awaited this final round. The winner claims not only the #1 pick in the next draft but wins the tournament.
Oh the Drama. No more wasted space...
@ PG- Deron Williams is debated as one of the Top Point guards today, lets look at the career stats to prove D Will beats out Baron Davis.
Williams= 15.9 PPG, 8.5 APG, 2.9 RPG, .466 FG%, .787 FT%, 1 SPG, 2.9 TOV
Davis= 17 PPG, 7.3 APG, 4 RPG, .410 FG%, .696 FT%, 1.9 SPG, 2.8 TOV
So the numbers are quite similar. Baron has 1.1 more PPG but Deron has 1.2 more APG. But D Will shoots at a higher %. I will take Deron Williams for reliability as well. Baron Davis has only played 4 out of his 9 seasons healthy, without missing a game. He is injury prone!
@SG- Ray Allen vs Rip Hamilton
Allen- 20.9 PPG, 3.8 APG, 4.4 RPG, .448 FG%, .892 FT%, 1.2 SPG, .398 3P%
Hamilton- 17.8 PPG, 3.4 APG, 3.3 RPG, .454 FG%, .854 FT%, .08 SPG, .345 3P%
Ray scores more, passes more, and rebounds more!

Stats do not tell the entire story.
A great player can play for a mediocre team and post up god-like numbers. But if he goes to a good team his stats are bound to decrease.
That's one of the issues why Ray Allen has better career stats than Rip. Allen played for the lowly Sonics and Bucks for a long time, while Rip has been having to share the ball with the likes of Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace, T Prince.
I am going to give you the backcourt advantage, no worries.
But the problem is that you lose everything else.
Paul Pierce vs Carmelo - your Anthony is highly talented, but I don't think he's a franchise player. Meanwhile, what can we say about Pierce? He's the 2nd best SF in the league behind LBJ. He now has the ring (maybe a 2nd this season?) to cement his legacy.
Carlos Boozer vs Gasol - again, Gasol is talented, but Boozer is elite.
Booz is one of the best PFs in the league, as his nomination to one of the All-NBA teams last season clearly demonstrates.
Yao Ming vs Brand - IMO you should have gone with Brand at PF and Gasol at C, instead. Because Brand is undersized to play as C. And Yao is the 2nd best pure C in the league.
6th man up next

Paul Pierce is great but why was Carmelo Anthony on the Olympic team in place of Pierce. Why was Pierce not considered the 2nd best SF in the league until KG and Ray Allen showed up. Thats the thing, Carmelo has been doing his thing consistently and could be behind Lebron and D Wade in his draft class but he is still at that level.
Gasol and Brand are interchangeable with that last position. Sure i would play Gasol at the Center spot against Yao but Yao is not the 2nd best pure C in the league. That would have to be Shaq behind Dwight Howard who we would both agree on. Shaq even though in his old age is still better than Charmin Soft Yao. Ming is good for fantasy stats but Shaq is good for rings.
Elton Brand and Carlos Boozer are a wash at this point. Elton Brand is a career 20 and 10 guy while Boozer has only played half of his career games. Talk about Glass... aka fragile. And I am a Jazz fan.
6th man. Can you really debate this. Andrei Kirilenko is the NBA's statistical quadruple double Machine! Who else can post 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, 5 steals and 10 assists on the same night. AK47 has done that throughout his career, he always produces across the board.

"why was Carmelo Anthony on the Olympic team in place of Pierce"
Why was Chris Bosh in those Olympics instead of Garnett or Duncan?
That doesn't really mean anything for our current TD.
Pierce was always considered one of the best SFs in the league, even before KG and Ray came along. They came and gave the Celtics contender status, but Pierce has always been one of the best.
Pierce is a 3-time All-NBA, 7-time All-Star... so he was recognized before KG and Ray came along.
You are considering Boozer prone to injuries and Elton Brand not? Funny thing considering Elton Brand is out for the season and only played 8 games last year.
Boozer misses games, but Brand is certainly not a better player in that regard.
Even if we do consider Shaq as the 2nd best C in the league (true right now, but not at all if we consider last year or the year before that), Yao Ming would certainly be 3rd.
And in being 3rd, he's still in front of your Pau Gasol.
Call Ming soft, but he averages more points, rebounds, blocks, has better FG% and FT% than Gasol.
Kirilenko is inconsistent as they come. Meanwhile, Ginobili has been one of the main contributors for the Spurs' rings.
