Your list is extremely solid, but for best point guard in the league I've gotta go with the Walking Triple-Double, Jason Kidd. Here's a guy is astoundingly consistent, ages like fine wine and is sorely under-appreciated. While his scoring #s are on the low end of his career output (13 ppg), he nearly AVERAGED a triple-double for the season (13 / 8.2 / 9.2). He's also a vastly superior defender with twice as many steals/gm as Nash for his career. Nash is great, but Kidd's still King.
CavaBearDians: What Happened? said 07/10, 07:32 PM
i thought about kidd, and i like him better as a player, but i chose nash because he is the better point guard. jason kidd is more of a 2-guard if you ask me. steve nash is an incredible game manager and a good defender. just as QBs are defined by how good their offenses are, a point guard can be defined by how good his offense is, and steve nash runs the best offense in the NFL. that compensates for nash being a lesser quality defender than kidd
chalklounge #10 said 07/10, 07:56 PM
More of a 2-guard? Have you seen Kidd run the break? He passes first, shoots second, hence his career 14.4 ppg.
To your point, a surrounding cast can make a PG's output -- that's exactly what makes Kidd's #s so amazing. NJ fans know he doesn't have a go-to inside presence, especially with Krstic out for half of '06-'07. Yet, he continued to dish 9/gm. He has absolutely uncanny court vision and rebounds like a forward at 6'4". You admit he's a better defender too, equally important.
CavaBearDians: What Happened? said 07/10, 09:41 PM
you say that because kidd passes more he scores less. yet nash has far more assists than kidd and his career average is almost the same. but the career ppg is not important now, as we are talking about the present, and nash averages about 4 more ppg than kidd. you mentioned that kidd had no go to presence inside, but there are other scorers besides inside men. you forget a certain player named Vince Carter. nj's offense was great last year, so there must be some other offensive threats on the nets

The argument is best player by position, yet you're conveniently making this argument all about offense. It needs to be restated: Kidd averaged nearly a tpl-dbl last season (career yr in boards), plays way better D (2 STLS/gm vs. 1 for Nash), and still dished 9/gm with way fewer weapons on his team. Nash is a huge offensive player perfect for PHX, but Kidd is the better player and PG overall with no signs of slowing down. His nose for the ball, floor awareness and defense put him over the top.

It is the First Team All-NBA team, except Dirk was 1st Team and Lebron 2nd. I agree Lebron should have been put ahead of Dirk Diggler.

Nash was the runner up in the MVP voting and former 2-time MVP, so he's probably the wrong guy to go after. J-Kidd just is not as good.
You would have better luck persuading Dirky over Lebron in my opinion. He was after all, the League MVP.

Flash, I really promise, Dirk is only a PF. Have you ever seen a 7-footer at the three?
All NBA doesn't differentiate between small and power, it's just two Fs, two Gs and a Cs. This team doesn't actually take the court. :)

You could put Timmeh at the C, so that is what I'd do and put Garnett at the 4.

What is Andray Blatche? 6-11/7?

yao ming should be in amare's place at center , because amare only get points from assists from steve nash , yao ming on the other wayn can post up and was first team all nba before he got injured yao ming can play without having a point guard giving him easy layups

I love Yao and almost argued for him, but it's tough to argue this case for a guy who can't stay on the court.

it hurt me to put timmy in there at all, as i'm a die-hard cavs fan....that's why i didn't even think about chauncey as a pg. true, KG whould be a good choice at PF, and i like him better, but timmy is too dominant

calling kidd more of a 2 guard lost my vote. kidd is the definition of a PG. pass first shoot second, leads his team, plays solid D. put kidd on the suns and he puts up the same assist numbers as nash while still providing much better D and rebounding.
