Craig "Ironhead" heyward was a huge FB for the saints. He did a commercial for zest or Irish Spring or something and he was impersonating a dweeby question. He held up a lather builder thing and said in a whiny voice. "But Ironhead.....what's with this thingy?"

I tried to find the real commercial but just found this guy doing a parody of it. Observe....and I swear to god that isn't me. This is not as amazing as the original commercial but the script is close.

The funniest commercial with an athlete in it was around four years ago. It was a United Way ad featuring Eddie George. Eddie was running a volunteer clean-up operation. Eddie walks by with four tired around each arm, and the two guys who are supposed to be helping are rolling one between the two of them. After a bit they get into a fencing fight with their rakes, and Eddie tells them to knock it off. One guy whacks the other with his rake, and narrowly avoids his opponent's retaliatory strike. Classic..

I liked that one too, but nothing is as funny as Ironhead in a towel talking about zest and lather builders.

See, Eddie George actually did charity work. Ironhead never used soap.

nope, Ironhead's commercial is still topping "slackers".

hey, I remembered the tag line.

Well, we'll go into others then...My most recent one was going to be the Urlacher and Ortiz badminton one ("Their opponents are afraid to approach the net!") or the Reggie Bush vs. Diet Pepsi machine (running stairs competitively with 80s classic rock song "The Final Countdown" by Europe in the background). The whole "Bo Knows" series from way back in the day.

Or how about the Sportscenter commercial when Trey Wingo was telling Evander Holyfield that Charlie Steiner said Holyfield was the sixth best heavyweight.

"In the world??"
"No...in GEORGIA!"
"C'mon out, Charlie! Come out and get yo' whuppin???!"

And obviously, Terry Tate, Office Linebacker.

Terry Tate or any Peyton Manning commercial.

July 14, 2007  05:50 PM ET

I could have listed about 20 of them, Chanhassen. Both of those were on there.

July 14, 2007  05:53 PM ET

Ironhead's commercial was completely out of left field at the time.

Peyton's was with a 5 year old ad campaign and while I'll say that Peyton was funny and he can act, people won't talk about it like "But Ironhead" in the future.

Let me ask you this.....did some wierd pudgy kid do a remake of Peyton Manning's commercial on YouTube?

July 14, 2007  05:53 PM ET

no i like the david ortiz brian urlacher mineral water commercial.. it's hilarious and gets me every time!

July 14, 2007  05:54 PM ET

YES... terry tate- office linebacker. CLASSIC

July 14, 2007  05:54 PM ET

Terry Tate. That was awesome.

July 14, 2007  05:55 PM ET

Was terry tate really an athlete though?

July 14, 2007  05:56 PM ET

Terry Tate was cool, but it's still no "but Ironhead"

July 14, 2007  05:56 PM ET

I don't think he was so that technically makes it not count in here.

July 14, 2007  05:57 PM ET

He wasn't, but it was still comedy gold.

Terry Tate was hilarious. That might be the funniest commercial ever. Besides Holiday Hawk.

July 14, 2007  06:01 PM ET

The funniest commercial ever is when the ref is getting yelled at by the NFL coach and then they show his wife at home doing the same thing to the poor guy. That was priceless.

July 14, 2007  06:02 PM ET

THE PAIN TRAIN IS COMIN!!! WOO WOO WOO WOO!!!!

July 14, 2007  06:05 PM ET

actually, I like the golf commercial where the guy gets out of the trunk talking about shoes, then he sees that cabalero dude or whatever his name is walking with two dimes and the shoe guy runs over to them.

July 14, 2007  06:06 PM ET

Funniest commercial ever?......the juicy fruit Gum Pinata zebra where the kids break it open, they say Juicy Fruit, then the cracked open pinata goes crazy and starts rampaging through the living room and it looks like Home video footage.

July 14, 2007  06:08 PM ET

Yeah, Coletrain, the ref's got the same look on his face the whole time. Just classic...

IRON CURTAIN!

July 14, 2007  06:09 PM ET
