NBA is trying really hard to go global, I read in SI that the NBA generates now more revenue outside teh US than inside.

Travel time?

Can you imagine an NBA Finals that features the Celtics and a team from China? The series would be awful given how many times the teams would have to travel across the world in order to play games. Not to mention the regular season in which teams would have to travel thousands of miles to play away games. Too much money, and way too much strain on the players.

And what about the teams in America? Several are not doing too well as it is, so you want to add more? No way it happens within the next 10 years given the economic climate alone.

Foreign countries would also have to generate support and money for new multi-million dollar arenas. You would also have to compete with domestic leagues already established in these countries. You would think that was easy, however with foreign teams already sniping players away from the NBA, the gap between these leagues is not as large as some think.

Maybe in 30-50 years, but between the travel expenses and the current economy, 10 years is a ridiculous number to throw out there.

Travelling from New York to Europe is equal to travelling from New York to LA. Same milage.

Second, any NBA team can afford its own plane and most do have them. Travelling for proffesional teams is not a concern, they make hundreds of millions of dollars.

Also China loves basketball, they swarmed Kobe during the Olympics and Europe does too.

China doesn't have the money.

Everyone in China is poor, and never spends any money because they have no social net, so they save all their money they get. Who will buy tickets to go to games?

everyone in china is NOT poor. china has one of the worlds most booming economy's.

The people though are poor, that is why their economy is booming, the cheap labour.

They have no social net, so no healthcare, pensions, old age plans, nothing, so Chinese people don't spend, because they save for when they are old. The Chinese people save more money than any nationality, and spend the least.

David Stern: "There's some good possibility over the course of many years, that if there's appropriate arena development in Europe, there could be actual NBA franchises in Europe.
That's where we see the development of basketball in the world."

China as a Government is loaded with cash, considering we (USA) owe them around 7-9 trillion dollars

The NBA in China, or just any league having teams in any foriegn continent except for maybe Europe is out o the question.

Approximately 90% of the people living in China are in poverty levels. The money is being made by a select few.

As for the NBA in China, maybe they'll have a league there, but not a permanent NBA franchise.

The only way to make that happen is to start voting for him. Maybe if he wins a TD and we break the streak he'll give up.
