I don't mind the Vikings pick... I actually think they got a MAJOR shot...

SECOND ROUND:

(5) Cowboys @ (2) Vikings (Vikings win in blowout 35-14 - Romo doesn't like the pass rush by Jared Allen & Co. and the tough Vikings run D stops the 3 headed rushing attack)

SUPERBOWL: COMING SOON!!!!

Ok, since you added nothing new and didn't argue, I'll elloborate, starting at the top and working down

Conference: Vikings - Saints

I don't think it's a stretch to see either of these teams here so I'll just explain why the Vikings will win. The Saints will have home field advantage, but with Favre at this point, I don't think the Vikings will be rattled. This will turn into a shootout with two great QBs and I think Favre wins. He came back for this very moment and isn't going to disappoint.

Pats - Colts

The Pats are starting to hit their stride again and are looking like the Pats of old. Peyton doesn't have an astounding offense, but it's getting there. What people seem to be forgetting, however, is that the Colts #2 WR in Gonzalez is out. When he comes back, that'll make the offense more dynamic. And the D, if Bob Sanders can stay healthy, is solid. In this game, the Colts will have home field advantage and that is the only reason they win

Colts - Vikings

This again comes down to the simple fact that Favre came back for this and he shows up big when the pressure is on. I can see him picking apart the subpar pass D (outside of Sanders) of the Colts.

Okay I am a Vikings fan but both of your arguments go on the fact that Favre comes up big because he came back to win a Super Bowl...

I would down right get Butt F**king wild at the idea of Vikings going all of the way... I have been waiting, well... FOREVER for this to happen and believe me now is the time...

But if the Vikings do have a weakness it's in the Secondary..

in my bracket I have

Patriots over Vikings in a shootout because we all know the Vikings can put up the points (number 1 offense in football right now) But!!!

Patriots go off... The hoodie steals a few signs and pushes the Pats to another Victory...

This isn't me having 0 faith in my team. I saw them lose 1 game to against the Steelers they should have one...

But I see the Pats coming up big...

Patriots over Vikings in a shootout because we all know the Vikings can put up the points (number 1 offense in football right now) But!!!

This would be a shootout, but I don't think the Pats even get here. i think they lose against Indy simply because the game will be in Indy. Then, they will face the shaky pass coverage of the Colts and Favre can tear them up. That would turn into a shoot out as well, but I think Jared Allen and the D-line can cause enough pressure and the Vikings secondary can make enough plays to win them that game.

I think Houston has started off to good this year to fade down the stretch. The same goes for the Bengals. Each have a relatively easy schedule for the second half of the season and I don't see them blowing it. For the Cowboys, I think their hot streak carries them into the playoffs where they take down the overrated Cards. For the Falcons, they are gradually getting better after a slow start and will sneak into the playoffs.

Good TD. GO VIKES.

this is the most spaces in one argument ever

November 3, 2009  02:43 PM ET

Yea I had no spaces and then it got really cluttered... Wasn't sure how to make it better! I shall surely lose votes just from people who don't want to read what I wrote haha...

You will lose more by taking the Dolphins over the Steelers.

November 3, 2009  03:10 PM ET

No way 3 9-7 and an 8-8 team will make the playoffs.

You are underestimating the Falcons too by the way.

"Let me explain. There's logic to this, not just homerism"

Rude, that is pure "homerism". We all know by Week 12 Favre's arm will fall off. I suppose the logic is that, because it is Brett Farce, he will throw TD passes with his foot, and lead the Vikes to the SB

November 3, 2009  04:35 PM ET

I know you don't differ on this, so I won't likely hear an explaination, but you both seem to think that Denver will fall apart.... and go 4-5 down the stretch.... I just find it hard to believe that a team who has gone 6-1, will suddenly fall off the face of the earth in the second half....

I DO understand why Rude might not have changed it... It keeps it out of the argument.. but..

November 3, 2009  04:39 PM ET

so... its pretty much bengals and huoston, vs ravens and dolphins... The NFC would be cowboys falcons...

Plus the records are different... Man.. This probably should have been two TD's in order to let you two argue effectively.. Needless to say, this could be a lot of info out there, unless lefts logic or rights logic sums up all the differences easily.

They don't seem to be built for playoffs or late December or so. I think Sunday is the start of their implosion

Home field advantage will be huge. Honestly, if N.O. has it, they will beat Minny.

November 3, 2009  07:38 PM ET

The Falcons play the Redskins, Panthers, Jets, Bills, and Bucs twice and left thinks they are only gonna win four more games?

It's not a stretch to see ATL losing to NYG. N.O. Philly and the Jets. Whihc would put them at 9-7 on the season if they win the other remaining games.

I was referring to left having them at 8-8. 9-7 does seem more feasible, but I feel the most likely case is 10-6 or a slim chance at 11-5. I don't see the Falcons losing to the Redskins, Panthers, either game to the Bucs, or the Bills. To me those games are locks with the way the other teams are playing. I also feel that the Falcons should beat the Jets and Giants. While I don't think the Giants will continue to spiral downward, I don't think they are as good as people originally thought, especially after the last two games.

Ok.. Gotta ask the NFL crew here:
How would one rate defense?
I know total yards allowed, total points allowed..
Sacks and INT's play a roll along with takeaways... (Yes INTs add into takeaways)

But what is generally accepted as the measure of Total Defense? (Or what combo of stats is..)

Even with either game being in a dome?

I know the fans in NO are rabid right about now, but I wonder how much that will affect either Favre or Brees.

Generally, I take a combo of total yards, take aways, and ppg. Of course, there can be some exceptions, but these three are usually a pretty good determinant
