GILLISPIE WAS A BETTER PICK FOR THE UK COACHING JOB

BILLY G. IS MOST DEFINITELY A BETTER PICK FOR THE JOB. HE HASNT STOPPED RECRUITING SINCE HE GOT THE JOB. THE REASON DONOVAN DIDNT TAKE IT,HE COULDNT HANDLE THE PRESSURE OF COACHING THE GREATEST COLLEGE TEAM IN THE NCAA


Billy Donovan didn't take it because he is set with a great job right now. His family loves the area, and who wouldn't want to continue being a part of an athletic program that has won 3 consecutive championships in the biggest sports in college? Obviously there is a lot of pressure coaching Kentucky, and although it's a coveted job, he has it made in Florida. Gillespie may be a good hiring and that will show as the season falls upon us, but you can't say Donovan didn't take this job because he is scared, because the guy has it made in Florida right now.



You can't argue that Florida is only a football school. They repeated this year, I don't get what you are saying... and why are you bashing Penn State?

This could definitely be the coming of a basketball dynasty... you know the recruits that Donovan will get in the coming years, and especially in a great location like Florida? Donovan is a great coach and is smart for staying.


THEY WILL NEVER BE AN ELITE UNIVERSITY LIKE KENTUCKY. LIKE YOU SAID, IT COULD BE. DON'T GET ME WRONG DONOVAN IS ONE HELL OF A COACH, BUT BILLY G IS THE PERFECT FIT FOR THE JOB. IT IS HIS FIRST YEAR AND IT WILL BE HARD TO GET THE TOP PLAYERS AT FIRST, BUT GIVE HIM TIME AND HE WILL HAVE THE PROGRAM BACK TO CHAMPIONSHIP FORM. THE MAN LIVES, SLEEPS, BREATHES B-BALL AND THAT IS WHAT UK NEEDED.


Fair enough, I am not disagreeing with you about Gillespie, he could be a great fit for UK, although I did like Tubby Smith and still think he is a great coach.

However, I am disagreeing with you about being an elite university, as they have a better football AND basketball team right now, and it could easily stay that way. Florida's sports programs right now are absolutely amazing... go to their site and look at their national rankings for a variety of sports, in which they are in the top 10...

I like Kentucky, but your argument is typical of Wildcat nation. You guys love it when somebody has blind loyalty to your program, but if someone else has a better situation that he wants to stay in, or go to, you destroy him. Donovan is a very smart man, and he knows that wha he is GREAT. As much as I hate UF, he should retire there.

Not a basketball school? Maybe thats the reason they just won back to back championships, and he is very smart for staying because everyone wants to go to florida now and he will have a good team there for a long time
