Boise State's "challenge" isnt really a challenge.

They made news when they said they will play anyone, anywhere in 2011. And now they brag no SEC team has called back.

Boise is a GOOD team, no doubt. But winning all those games in the WAC doesnt make you as good as the best team in the big 12, sec or big east. Yes, they beat OU in that bowl game. But they play in the WAC. And no team in the SEC is annually as bad as the bottom of the WAC. If Vandy played in the WAC I can see them being a top 5 finihser every year!

They could beat Hawaii...San Jose State...Utah State....New Mexico State...La Tech.....

But the MAIN reason this is not a challenge is that the 2011 schedules are almost already set!!! Many teams have already scheduled out of conference games.

Alabama has ALREADY scheduled Penn State for 2011...at PSU.
So why would Bama, which always plays a tough SEC schedule, add Boise in addition to Penn State?

When has Boise played a schedule like: Penn State, LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn, Tennessee...all in the same season?

Boise needs to plan ahead. They should have made this offer 2 years ago.

Conference bashing has NOTHING to do with the TD you made. 3/4 of your argument, for whatever reason to me, is about knocking their schedule.

FACT: Boise St challenged any team, anywhere, at their home field, which ESPN would make a nationally televised game in 2011, with NO RETURN game needed.

RESPONSE: EVERYONE turned them down/ wont accept.

Not EVERY BCS conference team has their schedules set in stone for 2011. Hence why you put in your argument "ALMOST".

These are the available teams, who do NOT have their schedules set for 2011:Michigan, Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas A&M, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma State. Pretty sure BSU tried scheduling USC a year or two back, as well.

Funny, there are quiet a few teams there that are available to accept the "challenge" that you see as "Not a challenge"

Teams are scared! Who BSU plays has nothing to do with the fact that other teams don't want to play them. Heck, it would be a good reason to shut them up, or even give a boost to school exposure, or a great SOS HOME GAME win.

I'd say trying to schedule these teams for two years in advance would qualify for "planning ahead", no?

Challenge has been made, teams are scared.

firstYou fail to realize that not all conferences are equal.

It does no good for a team from a top conference like the big 12 or SEC to schedule yet ANOTHER major game.
Boise plays a cupcake schedule each year. Compare their schedule to Bama's. Why should Bama add another top 25 team? How many do they have to play in a year? Ole Miss, LSU, V-Tech, Florida.
Look at their extra games: Auburn....their #1 rival AND a team often in the top 25.
Tennessee....a top 15 defense. South Carolina....a top 20 defense.

second The fact they are making a big deal about that 2011 season is phony bc MOST teams have already set their 2011 schedule.
You listed Oklahoma. They ALREADY have future games vs Florida State and Tennessee.
Michigan already has Notre Dame, western mich, and Uconn scheduled.

And Bama is already playing Penn State in 2011....in ADDITION to their SEC schedule.
>>Do your research<<

third Boise should have done this "challenge" years ago and already have these guys scheduled. They are just living off that win over OU.

They just let La-Tech put up 35 on them............lets not think the WAC = the SEC

I look at your 2nd argument and it looks like your 1st, but puked back up....weird

Conferences being equal has NOTHING to do with the TD. Great, WAC Conference BLOWS! There, I said it and believe it. It still doesn't take away from the fact that BSU challenged any team at their own home field with no return game needed.

BSU should have done this challenge years ago? This team has just rised up to a top 10 team within 3 years. The BCS game issue hasn't even been around, but only 1? Maybe 2 years?

ASIDE from this challenge, they have been TRYING for the past 2 years to get BCS teams to schedule them, just not giving up home field advatage and no return game.... guess what? NO ONE ACCEPTED!

Keep whining about BSU's schedule, conference or what have you, but, again, it has nothing to do with your TD. REGARDLESS if you think other teams shouldn't HAVE to schedule them, their challenge was made abundently clear, with NO TAKERS.

Research? I did the research, and gave you teams who have OPENINGS for 2011. Teams that WONT schedule BSU. Teams that are scared! Like Bama.

It is a legitament challenge. COMPLETELY the opposite of what your TD reads, as the title.

oh my god...you are not seeing REALITY.

Alabama CANT schedule another top 10 team for 2011.
THEY ALREADY HAVE THEIR OUT OF CONFERENCE GAMES SCHEDULED!!
And they are playing Penn State....so lets drop the idea they are scared.
When Boise State plays florida and lsu and auburn and tennessee and georgia and penn state all in the same year THEN they have room to talk.

Your "research" proved you were wrong. Those teams ALREADY have out of conference games scheduled.
Are you thinking they decide the schedule in the offseason? No!
They decide these things YEARS in advance.

Boise would have a REAL challenge if they looked further ahead.

This is like waiting til the week before a major fight between 2 champs and sayings "hey, one of you 2 guys should fight me.....and if you arent you are scared". You should have scheduled the fight before the other guys

BOTTOM LINE: 2011 is too soon. almost all scheduled are set. contracts signed. i exposed some on your list as being so.

Bama always plays RANKED out of conf teams.....sp you are an idiot to say they are scared.

Looks like your argument, all over again. This goes further than Bama, I rubbed Bama in your face b/c it seems like you are a fan.

This school, like I have said before, and will say again, has already tried scheduling top tired teams to play them. The only reason that this is such a big challenge now, is b/c they are offering to play an away game, with nothing in return. AGAIN, NO ONE ACCEPTED than and now...

2011 is NOT too soon. There are 30 40 50 teams that could play this team...They already have Tenn and S.C for 2010, with many openings in other teams schools for 2011. Like a mentioned, Mich Oklahoma st, Arizona, and 30 others..

Not sure what it takes to get this through your head.....THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME BSU asked school to play them, just the first time they offered to go to their stadium and not have a return game...

NO ONE HAS ACCEPTED. According to your TD, the one you made, and titled: Boise State's "challenge" isn't really a challenge. You are WRONG. It is a challenge, one that doesn't go out to just top 10 teams. Get your narrow mind off that fact.

Boise deserves BCS contention.

Such a stupid system. I know Canadian College Football is incredibly inferior, but atleast we have the playoff system figured out!

National Champ in Canada = The Real National Champ

National Champ in USA = "WINDOWS IS LOADING...."

November 7, 2009  03:03 PM ET

Why would those teams want to play BSU? The chance of losing is too great. Ask the Ducks.

Powerhouse plays Boise State and wins = everyone goes its just Boise State not a huge win

Powerhouse plays Boise State and Losses = pathetic loss by powerhouse and Bosie State starts screaming like they should be in the NC

It's lose lose for a big school to play them. Boise State is just doing this so they can act like they tried to schedule tough opponents.

Not when they are a top 10 ranked team. A win against a 7th ranked opponent based by the computer ranking is HUGE! Same can be said for a loss, as well. Not as simple as you say.

Also, a Boise St win equals out to a contender for a BCS game, which is the ENTIRE point of the challenge. They need bigger teams to play against to get consideration for BCS games. Without them, they get an at large bid....or, a worthless bowl game compared to what their worth is, if they get the W's.

We will never be able to gauge this team until BCS conference teams start playing them.

All those big bad SEC and Big 12 teams need cupcakes outside of their conference to pad their stats and win totals. Where does Boise State fit in to that?

Exactly why the current BCS system is so flawed. It should encourage strong records against strong teams, and issue seeds for a tournament based strongly on SOS. The BCS encourages established powerhouses riding on their reputation and playing relatively weak schedules (hence not wanting to schedule strong non-conference schedules).

Umm gee maybe the cupcakes inside Boise State's own conference perhaps....

Has nothing to do with the TD.

One more is tremendously flawed is that polls that have pre-season picks in them are considered as part of the formula.

Imagine if you will that Boise got a bid to play Florida in the regular season. Imagine Florida getting beat doesnt matter by how much. Florida's season would potentially be screwed.

Thats why teams dont want to play Boise State. Good teams know that Boise is good and losing to Boise has the potential to crush their season.

Short order-Teams are scared to play Boise.

November 8, 2009  11:51 AM ET

Yeah, the Alabamas, Floridas, and Texas A&M's in this world are shaking in their cleats at the thought of playing Boise State. That said, Right obviously researched well to buttress argument. Have never been able to seriously follow college football in this country. Incomprehensible to me that the National Title isn't necessarily won on the playing field against the eventual runner-up. Whether it's MLB, the NFL, NBA, March Madness, College Baseball World Series, NHL, or salmon-heaving live from Scandanavia, the champion is always decided on the field of play. Except in NCAA Football.

I would love to have my Wolverines play Boise at the Big House. Not saying we would win, but it would be interesting.

I think BSU is looking to schedule good teams....

November 8, 2009  02:10 PM ET

Bama already scheduled Penn State for 2011.
Maybe Boise should have make this trash talk a coupel years who when teams were scheduling for the 2011 season. MOST are already set for 2011 and are scheduling teams for 2013 and even 2015!

Someone should tell Boise's AD how things work....you plan ahead.

Boise will have a good run...then recruits will realize where Idaho is and go to USC or Florida.

What don't you understand? BSU has been TRYING to schedule these schools, wiht no luck. No they have just upped their ante in saying they will play anyone at their home stadium with no return game. Whats so hard to understand about that?

What dont YOU understand? They put this "challenge" out THIS YEAR bonehead. Bama A_L_R_E_A_D_Y has their 2011 out of conference schedule set.

Why didnt they call bama before bama called penn state? OPPS!....................

November 8, 2009  08:45 PM ET

Boise has the 100th easiest schedule in the ncaa
Bama plays the 24th ranked schedule.

WAC=cupcakes....SEC=real teams

So it doesnt do Bama any favors to add yet another major team to their 2011 schedule when they already play an SEC schedule PLUS Penn State
