Pick an NBA topic and argue. you can go first.

New Orleans owned Charlotte in the Okafor for Tyson trade. Okafor is everything Chandler is on defense, and is twice the player the former is offensively. Additionally, Tyson is already in Brown's doghouse, not even 10 games into the season!

Its probably a bit too early in the season to decide if this trade is fair or not, yet I already have an opinion.after the Hornets flopped miserably last season with injuries and consistency the front office knew it was time for a change. After Tyson chandlers career year in 2007-2008 toe injuries limited him last year. The Hornets knew that it would not work out so they traded Chandler to Charlotte in exchange for Emeka Okafor. Okafor is durable and consistent and he has averaged a double double every season he has been in this league. Okafors numbers this season: 12 points and 10 rebounds. Chandlers numbers this season: 6 points and seven rebounds. Tose numbers are well down from the 11 points and 11 rebounds posted in 2007-2008 when he had tons of alleyopps from chris Paul. its only still early in the season and both players should be given a fair chance to imprress their new teams. It is still to early to tell who won this trade.

I agree that at the end of the day we can't fully assess this trade till later like trades in other sports (ala the Matt Holliday, Johan Santana, Jay Cutler deals) can't fully be assessed for 3 seasons.

But people still assess them. I see articles on how Denver won the Cutler sweepstakes, how the Cardinals stole Holliday, how the Raiders lost to New England yet again. So people in fact do assess trades just like this one.

The fact of the matter is that in a league short on stud centers after Dwight Howard, Emeka Okafor is a very good player on both sides of the floor and Tyson Chandler is a defensive specialist, who while underrated in my opinion, was a guy New Orleans was willing to dump for nothing last year and it got them an elite young talent.

yes good point. Tyson Chandler is better than a lot of people think he is a pretty underated guy who with the right system can be extremley good. It will be interresting to see how long he stays in charlotte and whether or not it works out. Okafor has the right positive attitude and all the pieces to stay in new orleans for a long time.

Emeka Okafor has been the better player throughout his career, and looks to be better once again this season.
