Nascar has screwed themselves, They have added so many rules, non of ther drivers can figure them out, besides that, they are inconsistent in enforcing the rules.
They have created cars, COT, that are safe, but also non personal and non functional.
Drivers are now to drive a clone race car that can't be manipulated to the personal driving ability of the driver. Change the tire pressure, and a small set up option.
These are not race cars, they are a product of mass production.
Hersh:Go Vikings:Cavs said 11/07, 08:52 PM
I will agree with you that some of their rules are confusing....but most of their rules are for the safety of the drivers as they go 180 mph. almost every week...The COT is also supposed to help that....the reason Talledega and Daytona have restrictor plates is for safety...would you like to be going 210 mph. and smack the wall...I know i wouldn't.....The rules that Nascar has created is not only to keep the drivers safe but to make the racing better and more exciting....
The COT i will agree with you are like a clone car but also for safety....they do have downfalls with adjustments....because there are very few that you can do but the drivers are driving just as good of car as earlier in Nascar.....These cars are made so that the structure of the car will take the mostt impact not the driver.......
More to come......
Floatman-U Turkey! said 11/07, 10:43 PM
The building of the COT has given the racers a safer car.
The COT along with Nascar has taken most of the personalization from the teams and the drivers.
The new cars haven't solved the flying effect that happens when cars spin in reverse.
The new cars haven't improved good racing for the fans.
If Nascar doesn't listen to the fans and drivers, make changes to create excitement for the fans, their existence is domed.
Hersh:Go Vikings:Cavs said 11/08, 08:31 AM
Many people as me and my dad watch Nascar every week not because they go fast or the new COT car but because we like rooting for our favorite drivers.....Would you rather have safety keeping the drivers safe and continue the sport or racers getting seriously injured because of low safety?.....If Nascar were to listen to the fans there would be so much conflict between the drivers that the racing would plain stink.....Fans most of the time just watch to see flips and big wrecks.....The COT is also making the drivers better by not giving them as much to adjust and its most of the time all drivers which can make the racing exciting......
Floatman-U Turkey! said 11/08, 11:16 AM
I am all for safety, like you I want to root for my favorite driver, (lately that hurts a bit).
Let me get back to, "Nascar is on a downhill spiral"
I just think Nascar as taken the personalization out of the cars and teams hands.
To be a top race team you have to have a crew of engineers to find the smallest of hidden speed, handling, etc.
I don't like the chase, the points system I don't like the lucky Dog.
I do like double line restarts.
I hope 2010 brings some changes that are positive to both the cars and system.
Here comes Danika!
Hersh, Thanks for taking my 1st Throw down, I gotta lot to learn!
Hersh:Go Vikings:Cavs said 11/08, 02:29 PM
I love the double file restarts it makes the racing better early in the race and after a caution...The points system is stupid yea but still if you are going to be 1st in points you might as well have the most wins.....The Lucky Dog is ok i mean if you get wrecked because of s stupid driver and become a lap down and race your butt off to get it back this gives you a little reward for trying super hard......
No Problem i had a blast TDing against you...!!!!

Floatman is right. Safety is unimportant. They should not be allowed to wear helmets either. Shades and baseball caps only.

Uh, Yea, what he said! LOL
I'm all for safety, I'm just for giving the drivers back a bit of control in how the car runs and responds.
What's next Robot/remote control drivers?
Guerss I should have saved that for the response!

Could be worse. Could be F1 who are in crash & burn mode right now.
I never thought IRL would be the most appealing circuit to follow in 2010. Maybe when Danica jumps to NASCAR, IRL will be better without her.
btw, wtf is so special about Danica anyways? There have been female racers for decades + she's whinier than Tonya Harding

What are you talking about its all about money guys and even with the bad economy Nascar is flourishing give facts not opinion on this one...........Nascar is even popular in the East now its getting ratings even in Boston against the Patriots and Red Sox...... Every race is on TV, even Nationwide............more races than ever are on in primetime, When did that ever happen... so yea if it takes a mack truck to hit me them maybe I should get hit more often.....As for IRL who watches that remember guys its all about Ratings and sponsors and in America where the money is nobody watches IRL or any other circuit but Nascar

I always thought the ''old'' cars were safe enough and they were.. I don't know why Nascar was so hell-bent on bringing the COT out.. For instance when Dale Earnhardt had his wreck and died at Daytona.. would the COT been any safer?? The COT has taken the ''sc" out of Na''sc''ar

azcardsfan, The hit by a truck thing was in Jest. LOL
Nascar is not on the top of it's game now.
If you listen closely, the Fans are mad because the racin is getting real boring. Sponsorships are harder then ever to find because of the economy, The average family can't afford to attend the races, seats are going empty where once full.
This is not the Hay day of Nascar by any means.

Float...as long as Brian France is in charge, Nascar will not be on top of it's game. He's an idiot that is only after the dollar for him. Until the sport can do something to reimprove relations with the fans and do something about making the race cars look like street models, they may continue to go downward.
