I'm sorry but this is not a good way to compete w/ Strike Force..

Remember when Dana made James Irvin vs Anderson Silva for the same day as Tim Sylvia v. Fedor ?

That's smart..

the Main Events show is a nice way not to spend 44.95 to see these key main events but here is my problem..

for Dana..

You can't have something taped going against something LIVE...

I GURANTEE more people turned to CBS to see Rogers vs Fedor than wathing Nog vs Couture on the "Main Events" show..

Dana and the UFC are the headliner but Strike Force has some solid fighters who are or were BIG at one time..

Fedor is the best HW in the planet in my opinion..

Dana can't have some taped b.s. to compete w/ a organization that is hungry and has the best HW in the land in Fedor..

I tivo'd the fight but it cut off right before the main event.. Dam* i missed it.. I figured Fedor would win but i thought too many people were underestimating Rogers.. He's good.

OK, I am taking your explanation below "Dana needs to make a live event to compete w/ Strike force from now on.. "

I disagree with it.

Why should he "waste" a live show competing against SF?

If anything it is dumb and he would lose money.

You see, SF will either use CBS or Showtime.
UFC on the other hand, uses PPV system.

If less people watch Showtime, it does not really matter. But less people watching PPV goes directly out of UFC's main profit. So they would never put it straight up against SF.

They try to chip in, and use good events to take away some fans. but they would never try a live show simply because it would be dumb. Even if they succeed in taking half viewers away from SF, they would, on the other hand, have only HALF the viewers watching them. They would loose too!.

IMO, they shouldn't even bother doing it. SF getting more casual viewers to watch MMA is good for UFC, as UFC has better market and have more shows than SF. So they can benefit from SF's new viewers and MMA as a sport will grow.

But if they decide to go against SF, do it in a way they won't lose viewers for their own shows. That is by exactly re-airing old matches.

Strike force WiLL use a ppv system.. Also, UFC needs to make a live show against FEDOR.. I said strike force but i meant FEDOR..

"Main Events" is kinda LAME...

I don't know too many people that would pick.. watching a taped fight over a LIVE FIGHT..

Strike force WiLL use a ppv system.. Also, UFC needs to make a live show against FEDOR.. I said strike force but i meant FEDOR

I disagree. To put a PPV show on the same day Fedor fights, it's suicide for UFC.
They would need to get an arena, lineup some great fighters (you don't go against Fedor and put no-names on the show).

And again, even if it is a success, you get what? 50% of the ammount of PPV that you would get if you would have done it in any other night?
Why would you shoot yourself on the foot like that?

"Main Events" is kinda LAME...
I love the idea. I mean, for people who did not get to watch it before, this could be a way to see some great fights (like Nog&Randy who was the fight of the year... well, until last night)
But of course, great idea, just not the best day to put it on TV. :)

I don't know too many people that would pick watching a taped fight over a LIVE FIGHT.

Unless those are people who could not afford to pay for PPV, or casual fans who would not (yet) pay to see a fight, but would like to know what MMA is all about.
That is, of course, if we were talking about a SF PPV against a taped UFC program.

ARe you slow?

Anderson Silva vs James Irvin fought for FREE when Fedor vs Tim was on PPV.

I'm not saying UFC should respond with a PAY PER VIEW...

If anything Dana White should make a little card to INSULT STrike force's effort in competition..

GET IT RONI?

BOTTOM LINE bc i'm getting frustrated with this newbie who thinks he runs fannation.. I really would'n't be surprised if he fanmails all his friends..

TAPED **** SUXS

STRIKE FORCE IS A COMPETITOR OF THE UFC

FEDOR IS THE BEST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD..

therefore

DANA SHOULD MAKE A LIVE card kinda like this weekend.. UFC 105

dam*

feel like i'm talking to a fkn Kindergartener

LOL peach. resorting to cursing now?

You make an argument that makes no business sense whatsoever. Now you want UFC to make a BAD live event just to INSULT Strikeforce?

And when I say it is a dumb idea you resort to cursing? Isn't it just what a fkn Kindergartener would do?

Anyway, you are wrong. UFC should not waste their time and money just to throw a jab at SF.
And Dana's job is to make UFC gain as much money as possible for UFC, and not WASTE it away in a macho demostration that will gain them UFC NOTHING in return.

Specially going against the best HW in the world with a bad card just to insult them.... seriously Peach. Of all bad Ideas, you should win a title on this one.

Bottom line (as you call it) is a simple thing: There's no reason to make an event that will fail just to insult another company.

And moreover, I would strongly suggest you stop throwing TD's if you can't take a counter-argument and it makes you feel stupid... because matter of fact, the point you are ttrying to make IS fkn stupid.

So peace, nice debating with you, even if you can't really take a loss like a men.

i'm pretty much saying that Dana needs to make a live event to compete w/ Strike force from now on.. At least when Fedor is fighting..he's a DRAW

Hey Peach :)
Still pumped by yesterday's fights?

Good luck, man!

i watched both.... but live would be better.

November 8, 2009  11:48 AM ET

If SF on CBS brings more fans to MMA then everyone wins. SF, UFC, CBS, sponsers, fighters & fans.

Exactly my point.
So UFC competing against SF on live events will do not good to both. There's no business sense of doing that.
Specially if they are going to put a live show against Fedor.

UFC's best counter would have been a live show on fri. night.

How many guys are allowed to watch 3 hours of TV fri & sat nights?

November 8, 2009  12:11 PM ET

LOL good point!!!

November 8, 2009  12:12 PM ET

But if I had to chose anyone or Fedor, my choice would be Fedor. The rest get DVR'd at best...

That was my first live Fedor fight...........I'M HOOKED.

I was standing the whole fight.

Seriously Peach. So now I am a newbie who think I run Fannation?
So now apparently I should run and call all my friens... for what? to beat your MORONIC idea?
I disagree with you.
To beat a bad idea you just need common sense.

... and if you think i did not understand what you said, I beg to differ. There's a reason why Dana di not put a free event against Fedor. And the reasons are the ones I put on my argument. At the end of the day, what is important is to make profit, not to piss off the other organization.

You have no sense of business .. that's for sure..

Competitors make your company strive..... BEAT THEM OUT.. there you go.. McDonalds made money off burger king... lets get real.

"piss off the organization".. ??

get real

... that's my advice to you ;)

The reason Dana did not put a live show to compete against fedor is because no one would watch.

It's one thing to have a competitive card against Fedor. Make the best card you can and let's split the fans, and see who breaks first.
And even THAT is dumb, since there's space for both of them to thrive.

If the market was saturated, and there were too many promotions, I would agree.

But going with a bad card against the best HW there ever was in MMA just "to piss them off" is not just a dumb idea. it is as good as burning up 100 dollar bills to heat up your mansion instead of raising the temperature on your thermostat!

left, im sorry u emailed me for votes but this just made me go right. UFC has TOP OF THE LINE FIGHTERS. the best in wec dont have a weight class in the ufc. too light. (mike brown, urijah faber). Strikeforce is single a baseball compared to what dana white is doing. i didnt kno that a fight was on cbs untill some guy at work told me about it.

ufc could run re runs of their fights all day. they are more entertaining with a higher caliber of fighters so they'll always win the ratings compared to strikeforce. come on now. strikeforce?? psh.
