Let's do something simple. Midseason NFL awards

MVP - Peyton Manning
Offensive POY - Drew Brees
Defensive POY - Darren Sharper
Offensive ROY - Percy Harvin
Defensive ROY - Jarius Byrd
Comeback POY - Carson Palmer

Good luck to whoever takes this

MVP - Peyton Manning- A case could be made for Brees. But ill stick with Manning.

Offensive POY - Chris Johnson.Chirs after 8 games leads the league in rushing. His 6.7 Yards per Carry is phenomonal. 4.0 is good, hes doing that plus 2.7 more yards. His success is undershadowed by the horrific play of the Titans. He has a shot at becoming the first 2,000 yard rusher since Jamal Lewis. He also touts a 7.7 yard average when recieving. Drew Brees is playing out of his mind. But there is noone running the ball better than Chris Johnson.

Defensive POY - Jared Allen- Leads the league in being a complete pain in the Offensive lines ****. His 10.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 def TD is very very good. He has become without a doubt a QB's nightmare. And oh by the way did you know he was sick in that first game against Green Bay? Aarron Rodgers is still having nightmares about this man.

Offensive ROY - Percy Harvin-Same here.
Defensive ROY - Jarius Byrd-Oustanding Rookie season.
Comeback POY -Carson Palmer

Trying to figure out why the unnecessary bold in half your argument, but let's go.

Brees v. Johnson

Your right, Johnson is having a solid season. But he's just too inconsistent.

He has had 4 games where he hasn't totaled 100 yards rushing, but then has 4 games with over 120 yards. He had 2 HUGE games against Houston and Jacksonville that accounts for 425 of his yards, meaning almost half his season total came from two games

Brees, however, has been consistent all year with only 3 games under 300 yards (one being at 298). He's on pace right now for 4,672 yards and 34 TDs and a completion percentage of about 70%

Allen v. Sharper

I love Jared Allen, but a HUGE chunk of his work was done against the Packers. In those two games, he has 7.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a safety

Sharper, however, is a monster every game. He has 7 INTs this season on 12 passes defended. That means 2/3 of the time you throw his way, he picks it off. He also has taken 3 of those for TDs. That means he's on pace for 14 INTs and 6 of those for TDs as well as 70 tackles.

Allen v. Sharper

I think it would be worthy to note that 4 of Sharpers picks have come from rookie QB's. And 1 by way of Chad Henne who for all intensive purposes is a rookie. Thats over half his picks and they came in three games. So id your gonna blast Jared Allens performance you have to blast Sharpers as well.

Just because a player picks up a big portion of his stats doesnt make them any less worthy. People dont really remember how a player got the stats. Just that they got them.

"That means he's on pace for 14 INTs and 6 of those for TDs as well as 70 tackles."

By this logic Jared Allen is on pace for 21 sacks 70 tackles 6 FF 2 TD and 2 safties.

Jared Allens unrelenting pass rush stops offensive drives in their tracks. There is noone playing better at DE than Jared Allen.

"Brees, however, has been consistent all year with only 3 games under 300 yards "

And the other two being under 200 Yds. As of late Dree Brees has been a little inconsistant having to put together drives late in games to win. In his last three games he has a 4 TD and 5 interceptions.

Johnson has had two subpar games all year other than that he has played lights out.

MTC.

I think it would be worthy to note that 4 of Sharpers picks have come from rookie QB's.

But that's not the same. It wasn't like Sharper had 6 of his 7 INTs in one game. He has only 3 games without an INT. Allen has 3 games without a sack. It is much harder to get an INT than it is to get a sack, so Sharper is playing lights out this year. And what is most impressive is that he's helped turn New Orleans entire defense into one of the best in the league. Allen is just an anchor to a great defense. I'm not taking anything away from Allen, but Sharper is playing better.

Look at it this way. Take away the player's best game and then look at it

Sharper - 2 INTs, 1 TD v. Jets. Without that, he'd still be tied for 3rd in the league for INTs
Allen - 4.5 sacks, 1 FF, 1 safety v. Packers. Without that, Allen is down to 10th in the league in sacks.

In his last three games he has a 4 TD and 5 interceptions.

But how many yards has he put up in that time? 936. How many wins they got in that time? 3. And that's an inaccurate stat because 3 of those 5 INTs came in one game against the Dolphins. Also, you failed to account for his 2 rushing TDs

Good TD. Adios FN

The fact that the Saints are undeafeted helps your case alot. The Saints recieving corps is one of if not the best in the league. He went from a 3000-3500 yd guy to a mid 4 to 5 k yd guy with the switch of a team. I like Brees but as far as best offensive player I just cant give it to him cause his team is loaded with offensive talent.

C.J. on the other hand is on a team that until two weeks ago was in complete and utter shambles. He has been basically that entire offense.

Total offensive yards for Tenn: 2610

Total Yards Chris Johnson: 1489

That equates to over half of the entire teams total offense on 1 guy. Chris Johnson is the Offensive Player of the mid season.

I will say this Sharper's interceptions through the midseason is sexy and his 3 TDs, so far he is picking balls out of the air. Sharper has potentially stopped a drive in its tracks 7 times this season.

Allen has done it 14.5 times when you count his sacks, FF, and saftey. Not saying it happens every time. But on defense Jared Allen IMO is the more disrupitve force.

Sharper doesnt have one tackle for loss this season. Allen has 5, meaning he breaks up potential passes and blows up the backfield.

okay??

November 9, 2009  12:12 AM ET

explanation?!?!?

November 9, 2009  12:12 AM ET

Well, after some recent TDs and the history of TDs, I've decided I'm leaving FN for a while. People here are getting dumber and dumber and it's not fun anymore. I try to argue my point, but better arguments are coming from people in the comment section.

I understand I'm not a great TDer by any means, but I still would like to argue against a quality opponent, not one who makes illiterate statements and forfeits turns. So once my TDs are done, that's probably the last you'll see of me around here for a while

November 9, 2009  12:13 AM ET

are you saying our TD wasnt good?! I'm illiterate?!

No. Yours was a good one. It's other ones and just a history of stupid people on here. A break away should be good.

Its bad when i cant figure out what some people are tding about.

Just do some direct challenges then. You can avoid the mopes that way.

November 9, 2009  12:19 AM ET

Yea i just read your blog..i mostly agree with it but if someone was stupid enough to say Durant was better than obe than i would vote for the Kobe guy because thats a stupid thing to TD in the first paly.

And with the lists..if you make a lsit and the ohter guys has players you missed I'd vote for him at first, but depending on how well you defended the other guys I might change my vote..

rudedog, I have to admit, when I logged into FN this morning and saw this TD I wanted to bash you. I dont think a TD is something that you should use to make an announcement. Anyway, long story short, I looked at the TD board and I dont blame you.

Good luck
