I say Mark Ingram will win the Heisman because he is the best tailback in the country. He has already surpassed 1,100 yards through only 9 games. His top two competitors are Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy. Tebow is overrated and could'nt live up to all the hype. McCoy has good stats, but who has Texas played? Alabama faced a tough SEC schedule where defense is superior. Every team Alabama has played knew that we were going to run the ball, but still can't stop us. Roll Tide, and RAMMER JAMMER YELLOW HAMMER GIVE 'EM **** ALABAMA

Colt McCoy is my choice for the Heisman.

72.9%, 2,447 yards, 17 TD's to 9 INT's. 149.7 Passer Rating.

Generally speaking a RB would need to be averaging 150-170 ypg to win the Heisman.

Mark Ingram is a solid college RB but he isnt putting up Heisman type numbers to be considered. 1,800 to 2,000 yards is usually the numbers a RB needs to be seriously considered as a Heisman candidate.

Texas has faced:

No.20 Oklahoma, 16-13 win.

and

No.14 Oklahoma State, 41-14 win.

Who?? Oklahoma has fallen apart without Sam Bradford and Ok State lost to Houston who was almost upset by Southern Miss. Alabama has faced No. 9 LSU, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Ole Miss. Also as Lee Corso says, "NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND", the season ain't over. Alabama still plays Mississippi State, Auburn, Florida, and hopefully Texas in Pasadena so we can break McCoy's tailbone. If Mark averages 130 yards over the next 5 he'll be around 1,700. McCoy does'nt play a decent defense in the big(little) 12

The Oklahoma Sooners. They might not be ranked anymore but they were when they played.

And Landry Jones isnt exactly chopped liver. His stats:

58.9%, 1,902 yards, 17 TD's to 11 INT's, 6.63ypa, 126.4 passer efficiency rating.

Bradford?

56.5%, 562 yards, 2 TD's to 0 INT's, 8.15ypa, 134.5 passer efficiency rating.

"Oklahoma has fallen apart without Sam Bradford and Ok State lost to Houston who was almost upset by Southern Miss."

Amost?

Only counts in horshoes and hand grenades.

Ron Dayne is just 1 example and set an NCAA rushing record when he won the Heisman in 1999. Ingram isnt going to be setting any records.

McCoy doesnt play a decent defense?

Really?

OU is 7th in NCAA, allowing just 12.3ppg. Texas scored 16 in a WIN.

Oklahoma State is 33rd in the NCAA (top third percentile), allowing just 21ppg. And Texas scored 41 on them.

Besides you mentioned Texas has an easier schedule.

That means they have a better chance of remaining undefeated than Bama does. Besides Bama has a couple tough road games. At (4-5) Miss State and at (7-3) Auburn. And Florida if they make it to the SEC championship.

Florida and Alabama have already clinched their respective SEC divisions (West-Alabama and East-Florida). They're going to meet in Atlanta on the first Saturday in September. Back to McCoy, this is just how pedestrian his stats are: McCoy has thrown eight (8) interceptions. Greg McCelroy has thrown four interceptions. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO THROW THE BALL TO YOUR OWN TEAM!!! Tim Tebow and McCelroy both have 11 TD's and 4 interceptions. TIM TEBOW IS A HEISMAN CANDIDATE (we think). Mississippi State gave up thirty (30) points to LSU. LSU has one of the worst offenses in the SEC (does that show you how tough Miss State's defense is?). Auburn is really sorry at defense- 44 points to Arky, 31 to LSU, and even 31 points to Furman. Mark Ingram will run them out of their stadium.

"They're going to meet in Atlanta on the first Saturday in September."

September, 2010?

Because we are November 11th today.

Think you meant December.

"TIM TEBOW IS A HEISMAN CANDIDATE"

He is running the ball okay but his passing stats are way down this year.

170ypg? He has thrown over 200 yards just 3 times in 9 games this season.

578 rushing yards and 3.7ypc?

He has barely eclipsed 2,000 yards combined in 9 games.

If he gets it, its a Lifetime Achievement award.

Miss State is medicore on defense, allowing 24.6ppg. Not god awful.

LSU eclipsed that by a TD.

Not sure what LSU had to do with this TD.

McCoy and the Longhorns have the best chance at going undefeated. McCoy's passer rating of 149.7 is slightly worse than last years 173.75.

And he has faced the toughest part of the regular season schedule with Baylor, Kansas, Texas A & M and the Big 12 championship game coming up. So I dont think he is going to throw too many INT's from here on out.

what??? are you fkn kidding me???

November 9, 2009  02:04 PM ET

No I ain't. Name one player who is better!!

November 9, 2009  02:18 PM ET

"...who has Texas played?"

Well, they won't be playing Alabama since Florida is gonna send Bama back to the Sugar bowl where they can lose to TCU this year.

November 9, 2009  02:30 PM ET

Ndamukong Suh

If ever there was a year that finally lets a complete defensive player (Woodson was helped with being on both sides), then this is the one.

November 9, 2009  05:59 PM ET

I am biased because I'm a Bama fan but the numbers don't lie and the guy is a bruiser with speed. Say what you will about the SEC being down this year, The offenses have been stagnant at times but the Defenses are pretty damn good. This guy has ran all over some pretty good SEC teams and is averaging 6.6 yards per carry and 127.6 per game. Thats pretty good to me!

Javid Best is a better tailback, period. It's too bad he took that crazy fall on Saturday. Playing on a good team doesn't make Ingram the best taiback.

November 9, 2009  06:03 PM ET

ingrams having a good year but not the type of year a running back needs to get the heisman

November 9, 2009  06:13 PM ET

Yoe, all you disbelievers out there. In the SEC, you have to be REALLY talented to rush for over a 1100 yards in 9 games. Cal's Best wouldn't have 800 yards if he played in this conference. Bama will face TX in the NC game and we'll see who's defense shows up to stuff the run, BIC????????

I pick Peyton Manning

Ingram or McCoy

November 9, 2009  06:58 PM ET

Here's Ingram's stats: 175carries for 1,148 yards, 8tds, averages 6.6ypc.

The top rusher, statistically, is Ryan Mathews of Fresno State. His stats: 205 carries, 1,459 yards, 14tds, averages 7.1ypc.

Mathews has carried the ball 30 more times than Ingram has. If Ingram had those extra 30 carries with his average of 6.6ypc, he'd have 1,346 yards on the season with a few more touchdowns most likely.

All i'm saying is Mark Ingram has carried the ball the least out of the top 8 rushers in the country, yet his stats are still impressive. What if he had those extra carries? He'd be sitting in second place nationally in the rushing category. Ingram has also shown that he can catch the ball out of the backfield and get to the endzone. Don't get me wrong, had Fresno State knocked off Boise St, Cincy, or Wisconsin, Mathews would be in the discussion. Being on a good team helps in the Heisman race, no doubt about it.

November 10, 2009  08:09 AM ET

McCoy should have won it last year.

November 10, 2009  08:13 AM ET

McCoy will win the Heisman - Ingram is good...Ingram is also a sophomore. Ingram's day will come, if he elects to stay in college. McCoy came back to win the Heisman and a National Championship shot. He will get both this year.

I think the Florida vs Texas will be a great match up
I think the Bama vs TCU will be another great match up

If Texas ends up playing Bama - BIG "IF"...Texas will beat Bama. They will thump McElroy and control Ingram. McCoy is too good for Bama's defense. Too versitile. I'm not too worried about it, 'cause Bama will not get by Florida in the SEC championship!

GO GATORS!!

November 10, 2009  08:51 AM ET

Better arguments from the right, even though I don't agree with the McCoy pick.

November 10, 2009  08:53 AM ET

Having a hard time voting for left when he cant even spell the name of his own quarterback correctly. I do not necessarily like the McCoy pick but the argument is better from DJ.

November 10, 2009  09:06 AM ET

McCoy has good stats, but who has Texas played?

It's odd how the same old trite and untrue garbage rolls from the mouth or fingertips of homers everywhere.

You act as if Bama has played top 10 teams every single game and hung 20 on each one. Bama has just as many fluff teams on their schedule as Texas and Florida.

Can't buy the bull from left. Voting right.

November 10, 2009  10:04 AM ET

Not after he gets beat in the SEC Championship game! Go GATORS!!!!!!

November 10, 2009  12:29 PM ET

Take a look at these two line?

Player A: 2447 yards, 17 TDs, 9 INTs, 72.9%, 149.7 QB rating

Player B: 2770 yards, 20 TDs, 3 INTs, 67.9%, 162.9 QB rating

The second is clearly better, right?

As much as I hate to say it, Player B is none other than Jimmy Clausen. He deserves the Heisman over even McCoy.
