The Lakers are the best team in NBA history no team can even touch the sucess of the L A LAKERS.here are some facts about the sucess of the LA LAKERS

1. At the end of the 2008-2009 season the Lakers had won 2,970 games and they hold the higest win percentage of all time at 61.7 percent
2. The Lakers have had 15 hall of famers play for them
3. Lakers have won 15 NBA championships,30 division titles, 30 conference titles
4.The Lakers hold the NBA record for consecutive win streak with 33 straight
5. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal have scored a combined 37,920 Laker points

There is no way to deny that the Lakers are a great basketball team: mikan, o'Neal, Bryant, Abdul jabbar, Johnson just to name a few are some of the great players to wear the purple and gold. Its Showtime.

OK, let me start by saying that I am a Laker's fan.

But how can you say that the Lakers are the best team in the NBA and yet they are only #2 in victories?

Boston Celtics has

Championships - 17
Conference titles - 20
Division titles - 27

Even if you take only the 2 of them, LA & Celtics rivalry, the C's win by a large margin.

1959 Boston Celtics 4???0
1962 Boston Celtics 4???3
1963 Boston Celtics 4???2
1965 Boston Celtics 4???1
1966 Boston Celtics 4???3
1968 Boston Celtics 4???2
1969 Boston Celtics 4???3
1984 Boston Celtics 4???3
1985 Los Angeles Lakers 4???2
1987 Los Angeles Lakers 4???2

And let's not forget the most recent
2008 Boston Celtics 4???2

The Celtics won from 1957 to 1969, 11 championships in 13 years !!! That is dominance!

So yes, LA had Magic, but C's had Bird.
Lakers had Kobe & Shaq. But the C's have Paul, Ray and KG!

There's not one cathegory that the Lakers beat the C's unless you want to nit-pick and count celebrities.
And let's not forget that C's fans were rooting for them while they were one of the worse teams in NBA (not too long ago), while Lakers fans are known to be the worse there is.

Roni, the Lakers are numbe r1 all time in victories. Like you said the Lakers had a star in Johnson and the Celtics had bird for my next argument i will compare averages between the 2 players:
These are career averages.....

Bird: 24.3 PPG, 3.14 TO pg, 1,7 SPG, 10.0 RPG
Magic: 19.5 PPG, 3.87 To pg, 1,9 SPG, 11,2 APG, 7.2 RPG

Magic: 17,707 career points, 10,141 assists, 6,559 rebounds
Bird: 21,791 career points, 5,695 assists, 8,974 rebounds

Magic amased 6,000 plus rebounds and he was point guard.

Let the stats do the talking.

One player does not make a team. if it did, maybe you should have gone with the Bulls for MJ.

And stats alone are bogus. You can drop 150 points on a team like the clippers and so what? And we all kow that D wins games and the Celtics made perfectly clear when they humiliated my Lakers 2 years ago.

It is not the ammount of points. Because if it is, then we should all bow down to D'antony's Suns (2004 - 2007). Because they outscored everyone... and look how many rings they got for their troubles.

The simple fact that the Celtics won twice more championships shows they are the best team in the NBA. There's no other way to look at it...

...unless you want to count on OTHER things in the NBA that people consider great.

For instance, take the Knicks!
- They have MSG. No other team has it. The Meca of Basketeball!
- They have one of the deepest pockets in NBA and are willing to use it even if you are not worth it.
- They have the best Market to attract good players
- No pressure to win (as noone expect them to)
- The most hardcore fans you could expect.
- The biggest Buzz (ok, after LA, but if you compare teams, they get muh more buzz than they are worth)

MTC :)

good TD Roni, I gave it my all and tried my best and i will come up with a better argument next time

Hey man, as a Laker fan, I really appreciate it :)
We do deserve our dues.

And who knows? Laker's team is (fairly) young, and maybe in 2 more years we will be in a tie with Boston!!! :)

Great TD man!
I had fun, and IMO this is more important than anything! :)

yes. yes you. all day you.
you will be 0-4 unless right is a complete moron.

all he has to do is type "boston celtics" and he wins.
you made it that easy

November 9, 2009  04:51 PM ET

Well... I'm hoping Right doesn't choose the Celtics and go with another team just to give Lefty a chance at going 1-3!

November 9, 2009  04:52 PM ET

Go Raptors! Bosh is on a tear right now! he is having a great season! hopefully he can carry the team on his shoulders and lead them over Tim duncan and the spurs1 GOOOOOOOOO RAPTORS!

November 9, 2009  04:53 PM ET

So, either Right chooses the obvious and everyone complains about how the TD is overdone,

or

Right chooses a new perspective and gets roasted.

November 9, 2009  04:54 PM ET

NO i will win! lets cross our fingers that he does not pick celtics shall we?

November 9, 2009  04:57 PM ET

Not unless you have a hoard of Laker fans who refuse to read solid arguments as right has started with already. Easy vote right.

If you read his argument he clearly stated that "OK, let me start by saying that I am a Laker's fan."

No wonder you will go to 0-4.

November 9, 2009  05:18 PM ET
