After Cain's dominance over Ben Rothwell, he was supposed to have a shot at the winner of Lesnar & Carwin.
However, due to the delay in their fight, he will now take on Big Nog.
Can he win?
I say no. Hell no.
UFC claims he is the "next big thing". I disagree.
Big Nog is my favorite fighter, and I see him winning this fight easily.
Moreover, I see this fight being a stepping stone for Big Nog climbing back to the championship contender, and he will be the one fighting for the belt in mid-2010.
As for Cain, he will finally learn what is a ground game...the hard way!
If you think Cain can win this, let's TD!

Let me start off by saying that i am a huge fan of Nogueira. He's a living legend and one of the best BJJ heavyweights in the world if the the best. That said, i think he's got a lot of miles on those wheels. At 33 and with almost 40 fights under his belt i think he's just past his prime.
Cain, at 27, is just hitting his prime. Although i don't buy into all the hype that surrounds him, i think he is a solid heavyweight that will challenge for the title in the very near future. He can get guys to the ground and with his wrestling background he will be able to control the fight that way.
You say that Big Nog can win the fight easily?? How so?
Roni said 11/10, 09:59 AM
Look at Cain's last fights against Cheick Kongo and Ben Rothwell.
They were tailor made for him.
he is fast, he is agile, and he has takedowns.
But those 2 guys had no ground game. So he could rely in simply GnP.
Heck, Kongo had no ground game whatsoever. So Cain could lay on him and GnP. he didn't have to be affraid of Kongo reversing, and Kongo didn't even try to stand up. So Cain only had to keep him down and keep beating on him to score points. But look at the end of the fight! Kongo Was not even scratched. Not one mark on him. So all in all, Cain did not damage to him.
Against Ben Rothwell:
Rothwell is a standup guy. He wanted space between them, and Cain did not give him that. He crowded Rothwell and droped him repeatedly. But again, he did not damage whatsoever on Rothwell. The stoppage was very bad. I am not implying that Ben would win, but I am saying he was not in danger of being KO'd. Just dropped again. And we know that Rothwell's hands are HEAVY. If the fight was not stopped, who knows ? he might have found one opening and KO'd Cain.
But now, Nog it is a different animal. If Cain takes him down, that is what Nog wants! One opening and Nog has you!
TheBosnian said 11/10, 12:31 PM
Those fights were not tailor made for Cain. Both of those guys are top 10 heavy-weights in the UFC. Kongo is one scary dude with great standup and Rothwell has been in the game for forever it seems. Both of those were though fights and Cain did what he had to to win.
You dissected Cain's fights as if he lost them...he did what he had to. He is fast, he is agile and is one of the best wrestlers in the heavyweight division, very well rounded in general. He will use the same tactic lesnar used the second time against mir. He will stay on top and not get himself in trouble with low-damage shots.
"Kongo Was not even scratched. Not one mark on him. So all in all, Cain did not damage to him"No offense, but you can't really see swelling and damage on dark people. He did do damage and he won.
"he might have found one opening and KO'd Cain"
You can say that about any heavyweight, not the best argument I've ever heard. Everyone has a punchers chance.
Nog's last two fights were very subpar, definitely not the same Nog we saw dominate pride for years. His age and standup were exposed in the Mir and Couture fights.
I see the the fight going to Cain via decision.
Roni said 11/10, 12:46 PM

Do you really think he CAN use this tactic against Nog?
Lesnar was only able to do this due to his size & weight difference to mir. Cain is not that big. he won't be able to keep Nog Down just by laying on top of him.
not the best argument I've ever heard. Everyone has a punchers chance
But it is true. Ben was NOT hurt by Cain's hits. he was completely lucid. They should not have stopped the fight.
Nog's last two fights were very subpar
LOL. I agree against Mir. But it is a fact that he was SICK and still took the fight. he went to the hospital a week prior to the fight! he lost, but you can't take it like this was his normal.
And come on! Against Randy??? That fight was considered the fight of the year! How come it was subpar? Please explain that to me.
You do Nog is 33, right?
The thing you don't understand is that Nog will be expecting and WAITING for Cain to take him down. but opposed to the other fighters, Cain will be ENTERING into Nog's world!
He will be unfazed by Cain's sissy punches and will submit him in the first opening.
Nog by Submission.
TheBosnian said 11/10, 01:17 PM
Subpar- Not measuring up to TRADITIONAL standards of performance, value, or production.
He was absolutely dominant in Pride. He was the best fighter behind fedor. He is only 33 but that 33 is a very old 33. He has definitely been through the ringer having faced some of the stiffest and diverse competition in the world.
Just because something is true, doesn't make it a good argument. A punchers chance is just too easy. Cain COULD knock out Nog. Kimbo COULD knock out Lesnar....see where im going with this...
"Cain is not that big. he won't be able to keep Nog Down just by laying on top of him"
Nog and Kongo are the same size, Kongo is probably much stronger . And i know what Nog can do on the ground. I said earlier that he was probably the best BJJ heavyweight. I just dont see it happening, especially in the First Round.
I am not trying to diss Nog like you are trying to trash Cain. Nog has earned my respect. It's going to be a good fight, and in reality could go either way. I just think Cain will ultimately outlast and outscore Nog.

I would take it Roni but I see Nog killing him. Nog is 10x better on the ground and Cain has no stand up, so its an easy pick for me....

Nog is going to laugh at him. Show him his $exy back scar and Cain will drop down into the fetile postion.
So Nog will win my forfeit.
Thats my theory. Disagree? Throwdown!

WTF are you talking about no stand up???? So his 6 TKOs due to punches is because of?????? It can't be because of his "lack" of stand up..............moron

Well, 5 were aganst cans, and the last one on big ben was a really bad stoppage.
And if you look at his last 2 fights, he got little girl's hands syndrome :)
He beat on Kongo and Ben for the duration of the fight and those 2 looked like they did not fight at all...
he won those fights, but no damage. For a HW bout, this is almost unheard of!

Roni, I almost thought of doing this but that is an unfair and easy win for you. Enjoy this freebie big guy because if the voters know MMA then they agree with you!

Actually yes it can. When tomatoe cans stand in front of you and don't hit back then you can have 6 easy TKOs over nobodys as well. Every notable heavy he has faught has laughed at his feeble little pecking shots!

LOL Krypto :)
As people tend to say Lesnar > Fedor just because he is in UFC, they might think Cain is really the next big thing! :)
But I digress. I made this TD because, as you know, Nog is my #1.
IMO he should win then fight the winner of Cawrin & Lesnar. I just hope he won't get distracted with his wish for a revanche against Mir...

I hope he doesn't give a piss about MIr either. I agree that NOG should have the winner of Brock/Carwin.

Really... The same guy who got rocked against Congo and was almost out untill he finally took congo to the ground and controlled the fight. Please show me where Cain has actually fought a contender and looked good in the stand up. He takes the fight to the ground and does his feeble(sp) attempt at GNP... Nog will submit him if it goes to the ground or will knock him out if he decides to stand up and exchange with him. Do you really think Cain is a better wrestler than Randy? Because Randy wanted no part of Nog on the ground. Then Nog showed why he is a well rounded fighter and top contender by pounding on Randy when the fighters were on their feet. Oh and you do realize you can get TKO's by GNP correct??? Again please show me where he has stood toe to toe and TKO'd these 6 great fighters....

Prime example of this would be from this season of TUF, where roy fatboy nelson won because of strikes (which is ruled a TKO) when he never once hit Kimbo with any shot that would hurt a 5 year old kid. So I am the Moron huh... Try again....
