Go Texans! said 11/10, 08:48 AM
As much as I hate them, I'm going with the New York Yankees.
They led the MLB with a 103- 59 record and cruised through the playoffs, dismantling the Twins in a sweep, and beating both the Angels & Phillies in six games.
Out of every MLB team, the Yankees were top 5 in runs, hits, doubles, home runs, total bases, RBI's, batting average, on- base percentage, and slugging percentage.
They also had solid starting pitching, with CC and Burnett leading the way in the rotation to go along with one of the greatest closers of all time, Rivera.
Unlike the Lakers, they were not pushed to an elimination game throughout the playoffs (in the second round the Lakers were pushed to a game 7 against the Rockets) and had the best record in their league.
The Steelers needed a game- winning drive with under 3 minutes to play in the superbowl to get their title. While that was good and impressive, it still means they weren't very dominant as compared to the Yankees.
The Penguins won a nail- bitter in the stanley cup, barely coming away 2-1 with the Victory. Even though they won the title, the Penguins still only had the 4 seed entering the playoffs, which is not extraordinary.

GIVE ME THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPION PITTSBURGH PENGUINS!!
Let's talk about the last word in your opening remarks, EXTRAORDINARY.
To lose to the Red Wings in the previous season and then come back and beat them IN GAME 7 @ DETROIT was more than impressive being that Crosby got hurt during the game.
They survived a division where 4 out of 5 teams made the playoffs, ranked #2 out of 5. Beat out the #3, #4, #9, and #11 overall standings to win the cup.
I respect teams who overcome adversity and make a run at the end of the season-thru the playoffs to win MORe than teams that just pay ridiculous amounts of money to stomp everyone else.
The Penguins playoff run was WAY more exciting than that of the Yankees. Beating the rival Flyers in 6, then CAME BACK from 0-2 to beat the Capitals in 7, sweeping the Canes, and then getting revenge while COMING BACK AGAIN from 0-2 to beat the Wings in 7 at THE JOE! Amazing.
The Pens won 16 of there last 22 games to make a #4 seed and the Penguins playoff run was FAR MORE IMPRESSIVE than the FAVORED Yankees. Champions find a way to win, thats exactly what the Penguins did. Coming from 0-2 in 2 series and winning both game 7s ON THE ROAD.

Wow, 13 minutes remaining.
Since my opponent forfeited his turn, this seems to be quite over.
Good luck on your other TDs in the future.

Penguins went from 10th in the East on February 28th to 4th in the East on April 11th. So over the final 42 days of the season they went 14-2-3 and moved up SIX spots in the standings.

im used to seeing people vote regardless of arguements but if he were to vote for left before the team selection, thats an all-time low for FN.
IMO, Hockey > Baseball regardless of this TD.

Not really... been done hundreds of times before. This hardly new to FN... more prevalent maybe but not new.
You are in the minority with that opinion as well.

But thats because you have no baseball team. About the only place in America where that is the majority opinion... that and Minnesota.

The Yankees are not impressive to me. Highest payroll in the game, constantly buying stars to win instead of building a team. What's impressive about it?

and its awesome. There aren't too many places where hockey is favored over baseball in the CONUS. Living in italy, it's only rugby, futbol, volleyball, cycling, and hockey.

The Yankees were the most dominant team over the long haul, and I have no love for them , I was cheering for Phillies..BUT THEY WERE DOMINANT!!

Yankees salary was over $200 million, $60 million more than the #2 team, NY Mets.
When you spend that much money, you should be crushing everyone.

I hate hockey and I think my anti-sentiment of that sport is widely regarded around here.
Yet what the Penguins did was no easy feat. Very impressive and props to them. I can't remember a team off my head that lost to a team the previous finals and to beat them back and clinch it on their home court. Wow. Yankees are just the Yankees we were expecting them to win with that stacked team.

Except their dominance is tainted by the salary disparity as has already been pointed out. It makes the MLB title the weakest of the four as teams are not operating on equal footing. NFL and NHL teams have identical financial limitations and thus victory is more dependent upon talent development and coaching instead of pursestrings.

Not true.....it's been almost a decade since the "Aristocrats" of baseball were on top. Since then the other RICH BA5TARDS from New England have taken a couple of titles...right?
Try being a fan of a poor team.
