Randall Cunningham is the better runner of the 2 because he could fake people out, use his agility to make second chances in the pocket and unlike Michael Vick, he could break tackles using strength. Michael Vick is strictly a finesse runner, however, Ramblin Randall was strong and could easily break a tackle where as Vick would get tackled.

Scary taking a TD in support of Vick right now but here goes. Vick in six years is only about 1000 yards shy of Randall's career total in yards rushing, Randall played 16 years! Randall was more of a scrambler who ran effectively when he had too. Vick uses his running abilty as a weapon and in the open field is way better than Cunningham.

If Randall was in the same offense Vick was in, Randall could have had at least 2 1000 yard rushing seasons. And the fact that Randall could throw makes the defense play more conservative. In other words, Randall Cunningham wasn't utilitized the way he should have been. In this case stats lie. Just because Vick is 1000 yards shy of Randall doesn't mean he's a better runner. In the open field I would not take Vick because like I said before he could not break tackles with his strength where as Vick would go down when someone pushed him from behind.

What the heck does how a defense plays have anything to do with who is the better runner? And no, if Randall was in the Atlanta defense he would pass more, because he is certainly the better passer. Why break a tackle when you can fake a guy out of their jockstrap? Vick makes guys tackle air. And the last heard, more yards probably equates to a better running ability.

I would prefer Cunningham over Vick because Cunningham could get the tough yards where as Vick only gets the easy yards. Cunningham could also burn people. Cunningham could just as easily be a better runner in the open field because: he could burn people, juke people out of their shoes, and unlike Vick use a stiff arm. Also, Randall had the 5 keys of making a good runner speed, strength, agility, acceleration, and speed. Vick has everything but strength.

Vick has plenty of strength, do you know that they played at about the same playing weight? Vick has a better yards per carry, better rushing average per game and if he doesn't spend the next six years in prison will crush Cunningham's career rushing total. I've seen Vick get the tough yards, use a brutal stiff arm and he is with out a doubt the better runner.

Wow. I understand that this could be a "homer" opinion and that Mr. Vick isn't terribly popular nowadays but to rate Cunningham over Vick for rushing quarterbacks is bordering on ridiculous. Vick's the most prolific running qb in league history. The numbers show that. Eaglemanic, your backing is in hypothetic terms. Look at what happened, not what could have happened. In the open field, wouldn't you prefer a runner that wouldn't be touched to one that could potentially break a tackle?

Report Offensive Commentthis is absurd. id take randall any day over vick, but vick is the best running qb and will probably always be the best. he could play running back and be one of the fastest in the league! he actually should be playing running back, haha

Report Offensive CommentI'm not even reading anymore of the arguments to know eaglemaniac is an idiot. If Cunningham was in Vick's offense? Vick plays in a west coast offense, the WORST system for a scrambling QB, it's all about quick accurate passes, whatever system Cunningham played it, he had at least equal chances. You could make an argument for Young because he is bigger faster and stronger than Cunningham was and can do most of what Vick does plus break tackles.
