I think that the Eagles will win the East this year. They have mcnabb and Westbrook who are coming back from injuries and a defense returning most of there key players.

The offense will be much stronger this year with there star players returning. Donovan is always viewed as a top QB in the NFC and Westbrook is still getting better and better. He is a double threat with his good running ability and amazing catching out of the back field, where he gains alot of yards with his good running abilities. Mcnabb can get alot of yards even with decent WRs. That has never been a problem as he hasn't had a top WR, except for TO. There offensive line is very good and give Mcnabb time to throw the ball and if nothing is open then they are very good at blocking down the field while he runs. There Offense can be very explosive this year if everyone stays healthy.

There defense is returning there mains guys except for Lewis who departed. Other than that the core is there and will as tough as ever. There isn't much to say about these guys because there play says it all.

So the Eagles have the best chance in this division as they are solid on both sides of the ball.

Well, Philadelphia is the obvious choice here. Everybody thinks Romo sucks all because of 1 fumble. I dont buy that. And so I'll argue the chances of Dallas by breaking down the Eagles. In 2006, the Cowboys finished one game behind the Eagles. Both teams were Top 5 Offensive units last season. Both were also Top 15 Defensive units last season. Dallas specialized in stopping the run, and Philly in the pass. Neither team had any critical losses. The biggest problem with Philly will be the WR core. The addition of Kevin Curtis doesnt say much, he's been a slot WR for his career and being put in a starting spot might not work with him. And then when the other WR's are Hank Baskett and Reggie Brown, that doesnt look promising. McNabb SHOULD be healthy. But like we've seen for the past few seasons, he is no guarantee. He hasnt been able to play a full season for the past few years. Since 2001, McNabb has missed 21 games. Including 3 times in which he missed the last 6 games of the regular season. And since the Eagles dumped off Jeff Garcia, they no longer have a proven QB in the backup spot. I believe that Dallas has a great shot at overtaking Philadelphia. They can get atleast 10 wins

I really didn't see you make much of a case for the Cowboys. All you did is bash the Eagles. The cowboys have a better passing game, not by as much as youd think, and there running game is better though how philly runs is to throw the pass to westbrook behind the line. They are very effective at that. So they have 2 different styles of offenses and both are successful. they are equal at defense as both are tops in there conference.

The one thing that separates them though is coaching. The eagles have andy reid who has proven over the years that he can take teams to the conference finals. While wade Phillips is in his fist year, with a Qb that hasn't played one full season. This team was built around Bill parcels style of playing football..Play wise and player wise...now you have a new coach coming in that has to work with Bill guys and that may not be as easy as you think. The cowboys have not been a stable team since the late 90s and couldn't even produce enough to keep Bill parcels there. So what makes everyone think that wade Phillips is going to turn things around and win the division?

Read my 4th sentence, I said I would break down the Eagles, so I did.
About Wade Phillips, I can actually see it being something positive. Most of the time, a team under a coaching change has to go through a period of transition which can last a full season. The Cowboys never did much under Parcells. Never went deep into the playoffs in the few times they made it. Phillips is a defensive minded coach that could give a boost to the defense, specifically the secondary. But the big difference in Phillips to Parcells is that Phillips is a loveable coach. Parcells was the drill seargent that wasnt loved by all his players, and Phillips is the laid back nice guy. The players will rally around him more so because of his even cooled temperment, and the team will do better with the unity factor. So, I dont see the coachihg change being a disaster, I see it almost being like the 2006 Saints with Payton. Like a fresh start. Philly's questions regarding McNabb and his health, the WR core, could be the achilles heel for them. And Dallas can overtake them with the amount talent off. and def.

How is wade phillips being a defensive minded coach going to help them? they are already good on defense and Parcels is the one who got the talents for that defense. He has always had good Defenses, so that argument holds no water. You were right on one thing though, that sometimes a coaching transition can last for a full season. In this case it will. Who knows how TO will handle the new coach, or how Romo will progress under him. Who even knows hoe the defense will do, because all those talented guys were signed or drafted by parcels and they may not be the type of players Wade is looking for in his type of defense. There are just way to many questions surrounding the cowboys than Philly.

Mcnabb has always done well with average WR core. He has only had one good WR and that was TO...you can't even name me another one who was worth anything. They have all been good in the system though. You don't need to have a big name to catch balls in a good system.

In 2003 he had guys like Pinkston, and thrash, and still threw for 3,216 yards...not one receiver had over 600 yards

They went to the conference finals as well, so they can win with a team like that.

Phillips helps them because they do have some holes to fill defensively. The pass defense was less than stellar, and Phillips could improve that area.

Im going to try and round this off into a good conclusion.
Dallas has a new coach, and Phillips is coming in with 2 plusses right away. He's a completely different type of coach than Parcells, equaling a fresh start, and he is a defensively minded coach, so the defense could improve. So, with Phillips and everything still intact offensively which was 5th in NFL last season, the offense can take giant steps forward with Romo. Philadelphia will not drop off considerabley from last season, but they did not improve. Health is an issue with all teams, but because of McNabb's recent injury prone habits, his is exemplified. And again, with no Garcia to back him up, that COULD pose a problem. Both Dallas and Philadelphia will have Top 10 Offensive units and Top 15 Defensive units, it will just come down to what Dallas is able to do with Phillips, and what Philadelphia can do with or without McNabb. Remember, they were only 1 game apart in 06', it could come down to their matchups, and I doubt the Eagles will sweep the Cowboys again.

July 24, 2007  12:59 AM ET

it wouldn't matter...its for the best no matter if you do a tourney or not

July 24, 2007  01:01 AM ET

The Eagles would win if their 3 best players ever played in a 16 game season, all the games, together. But they don't . McNabb will never play 16 again in his career. Doubt Kearse ever does either. Cowboys will be have the same secondary difficulties this year but at least they will be sending people every play to rush the qb. Too many weapons on offense and defense put the COWBOYS over the top.
