27 world championships would indicate that they ARE the best franchise in team sports history... yes.
Although I am a Yankees fan, you point out one good things, yet you fail to point out some of our failures.
Down 0-3 the Red Sox come back to beat the Yankees in 2004 and end up winning the World Series.
Lose the World Series to the Diamondbacks in 2001, lose the World Series to the Florida Marlins in 2003. They basically lose to the Angels every single time they play them in the Playoffs. Lost to the Tigers 1-3 in the ALDS in 2006. Haven't won a championship since 2000.
On a good note... 2003 - Aaron Boone hits a home-run in game 7 of the ALCS.
However, the Yankees have had plenty of downs.

Report Offensive Commenti cant believe a yankees fan is arguing that they arent the best baseball team ever. Historically its not even close. I hate the yankees with a passion but still reaize that the yankees being the best team historically is just a fact of life.

Report Offensive Commentscreamindeamon68, I said they are the best team ever, but you can't just say everything's been good and dandy for the Yankees. They've had tons of downsides, too. =(

Report Offensive CommentSOrry fellas this is a no contest. Logic dictates that if your going to be in a pennant race for the better part of your existence, everything will happen to you. Getting swept in the playoffs after being up 3-0, sweeping Atl in the series, comebacks and drop offs. Like the lottery "you gotta be in it to win it" and the Yanks have made more postseasons than anyone. Much of the failures listed here are recent but this is a historical TD, therefore the dormant 80's must be listed as well as the magnificent 50's, 60's and 90's.
