The Jets finished with a better record than the Giants did last year and they will do it again. Starting with the offense... Although Chad does have weak arm strength he is a better QB than Eli because of his decision making and his ability to run the no-huddle offense which confuses the hell out of defenses. T. Jones will once again have over 1200 yds and Leon Washington will be more than just a 3rd down back this year (we all saw the amazing screen pass against Miami). Although I do like Jacobs, I just cannot see him doing better than the Jets' RBs. The offensive lines will not win games or lose games for either team, they are both solid. Offensive Edge: Jets
While the Giants may have a better front 7, the way Mangini uses his 3-4 gives the Jets an edge, plus Jonathon Vilma is just scary. Yes the Giants' pass rush is better with Osi, Strahan, and Kiwi, but the Jets' defense-by-committee strategy worked well last year, and also expect David Harris to free up Vilma. The Jets' secondary is clearly superior. Dyson, Revis, and Miller are solid CBs. K-Rhodes is straight dominant, and Coleman is an decent fs... Defense Edge: Jets

The Jets' pass attack will not be nearly as successful as it was last year, people realize that Chad actually has a set of balls. The running attakc for the Jets will be good with Thomas Jones, but Leon could've used another year learning from Curtis Martin.
The Giants' pass atack will be much more potent due to the presence of a healthy Amani, Plaxico, Shockey, Moss, and rookie Smith. Gilbride will use a more vertical passing system with Shockey, which will get the ball into the hands of the Giants' best player.

Still the Jets have a better run game than the Giants... and the pass game with the Giants is so unreliable with Eli in the pocket. One day he's great, another day he sucks... Even though teams now respect Chad, he'll have something he didn't have last year, THE RUN GAME!

Eli will be very effective this year. The QB Coach Palmer has him working on small things; like looking downfield after every play instead of at the ground. The Gilbride/Palmer combination will do wonders for Manning, plus the availability of receiving threats. The running game is in good hands with Jacobs who is huge and runs a 4.5.
The defense is solid, Ross is a team player signing before camp no matter what. The LB's are solid; Pierce, Mitchell, Wilkinson, DeOssie, Kiwi. If Strahan does leave, SImon Rice is set for a physical and would sign quickly.

I am not saying that the Giants are a weak football team, because I think both the Jets and Giants will have successful seasons. Its just that position for position the Jets are a stronger football team. One thing neither of us have mentioned is special teams, in which the Jets also have an edge. Mike Nugent finally learned how to kick an NFL ball going 24 for 27. Finally Eric Mangini is a genius, and I think he is the deciding factor giving the Jets an edge. (ran out of space)

Not so fast. Lawrence Tynes is a very solid kicker and Feagles is a HOF punter. The Giants have multiple returning weapons this year in Ross, Moss, Smith, ad Jennings; and Tyree continues to be the best special teams utility player. Mangini may be an outstanding coach, but he cannot make up for the lack of talent in key positions on the Jets. Pennington will be shut down and teams will learn how to cover Coles. There are a few bright spots on defense, but I think the NYG defense is superior.

The Giants' defense is now led by Steve Spagnuolo; ex-linebackers coach for the Eagles. He will utilize the blitz and pressure the QB into making errant throws which will be mopped up by the secondary. The big play ability of Aaron Ross will result in many a pick-six's.
The offense is in great shape; the line is thought to be the weakest part, but there are multiple Pro Bowl starters and alternates there, the only question is the left side. Diehl can play either tackle or guard, if he plays guard, Guy Whimper should emerge as the starter; if he plays tackle, Zach Piller will step in as guard. Petitgout was solid, but he was on again off again and he committed a lot of penalties.
