I gotta go w/ the Fiesta Bowl. This was a David vs. Goliath. Probably the biggest game ever for a md-major. It was a back and forth game. It looked like Boise State was going to win as they had a two touchdown lead. and than OK drove down the field and scored a TD. Than they got 3 attempts at the 2 pt. conversion b/c of penatlies. Now its a tied score and Jared Z. throws adangerous pass and the sooners make him pay the ultimate price. Now Boise State is down 7 and its 4th and 18. The next play was 1 of the best plays in college football history. the hook and ladder for a touchdown to force OT. oklahoma showing how much stronger they were scored on 1 play. 4th and goal and the WR throws a TD for the broncos. and another genius play call. The statue or Liberty to win it. as soon ian johnson got the ball i knew it was over. I still get goosebumps watching highlights of it. It was 1 of those games, even thought i wasnt a boise state fan, i jumped off the couch and started cheering and yelling and calling every1, "did you see that? did you see that?!" maybe the best game all-time but right now it is only against the also great game, the rose bowl

Texas-SC. Vince-Matt all of the sports writers loved the intrigue of this match up, not to mention Madison Ave. was waiting in the cut licking its chops druelling dollars signs as the events unfolded. It is still a great game to watch of ESPN Classic. (no plug intended) The Boise game was a feel good story but so is Little House On the Preirie(sp.)

i think the Fiesta bowl is on ESPN classic also. It wasnt just the feel good story, it was pulse raising thrill ride of a game. 1st Boise was dominating than OK took the momentum. If this was a movie, i'd say it was unrealistic. USC-Texas was Goliath vs. Goliath. Not much of a storybook game. Plus the proposal at the end of the game. This game meant more than a 'W' for Boise State. It sent a shockwave throughout the BCS saying the mid-majors can play some wreck some havoc at the national level.

I live in a Goliath type of town so this match up was perfect. I'm happy for Boise and it did bring a tremendous amount of publicity to the mid-majors and deservingly so,and for their sake I hope it wasn't a case of Oklahoma playing down to their level of competition. In the case of Texas-SC, "life was not like a box of chocolate" we expected two bigtime teams to play bigtime football on a grand stage...they delivered what is arguably one the the greatest match ups of QB's in a long time.

true vince's heroics are unparalleled. The rose bowl was the best CFB game i have seen up until New Years Day 2007. I think the way Boise wanted to lie or die on the 2 pt. conversion was fitting. I believe the longer the game went the more bigger, stronger, faster, and more depth oklahoma had the advantage. People just remember the last 2 minutes of the fiesta bowl. it was a pretty good game before that also. The boise state bomb on 1 of the 1st drives and boises' interception off of OK for a TD were pretty memorable also
Wa2Sea said 07/30, 09:39 PM
True that! But I could recall a few memorable drives in that Rose Bowl game as well. Everyone knew on paper OU would blow out BSU, the interest came after the game started and the expected blow out didn't happen..Football fans wanted to see Bush's electricity, Matt's pin point accuracy, Vince's commanding drive to become national champions. WE WANTED EXITEMENT AND GOT IT, not a replay of "Remember the Titans...Good throw down though..we will battle again my friend!

BSU-OU=overrated. It was a great game, but I've heard people talk about it as the best game of any sport all time. I think both UT-USC and OSU-UM just this decade in college football are better.

I don't think the proposal should be included in this. Yes, it was a nice storyline, but what does it have to do with the game?
And as far as the underdog role, I remember weeks BEFORE the game, ESPN did a segment comparing the USC teams to the previous Nat'l Champions. They didn't even wait until after the game.

Considering the talent level on the field, and the fact that the Rose Bowl was for a National Championship.... its hard not to go with that one despite all the trickery of the other.
