I'm sick of hearing that the cubs are cursed. they easily could have won the world series several years ago. so what a kid got in the way of a foul ball. BIG DEAL! its not like that gave the marlins bonus runs. they were ahead in the series 3-2 and should have finished that game and if nothing else they could have finished them off in game 7. Chicago is just looking for another reason to blame someone else for there own pathetic team.

The Cubs aren't whining. The FANS are whining.
Winning the World Series is alot harder than you think, though. So they can't "just stop whining and win a world series."
Its pretty hard, you know.

They guy who caught that ball wasn't a kid, though. Just to let you know. He was like 40.

Like I said, you can't "just win a world series"!

The Cubs have had alot of bad luck, and being a Cardinals fan, I am okay with saying that. Just because they cant seem to get a break doesn't mean they're trying to find someone to blame for losing. By the way, the Cubs organization doesn't even officially recognize that they are "cursed" as you say they are.

yes i understand that it is difficult to win a world series that doesnt change the fact that alou looked like he was about to cry after he didnt make the catch. the entire cubs team was down after that one play when they could have easily won the series

You contradicted yourself.
In your first sentance you said it was difficult to win a WS
In your last sentance you said they would have easliy won the WS.

But anyway, the whole team wasn't about to cry as you said. They are all grown men and can handle their emotions. They were all mad that a fan interfered witht he ball, though, and that was bad luck. The rest is history, though.
They lost the next couple games and then were eliminated. It wasn't because of the one moment.

Are you gonna make your second argument?

good point a 40 old guy has magic powers to doom a team

Steve Bartman!

August 1, 2007  03:59 PM ET

THATS his name!
I kept thinking Steve Berkman!
I knew it wasn't right......

Ok, why doesn't the MLB just announce the Chicago Cubs the WS Champs of 2007... Thats ridiculous, you can't just give something away to somebody you have to EARN it. Terminator, your a Cardinals Fan. It must have been hard to watch the Cardinals drop a couple World Series before finally winning one. It was against the Tigers though, lol. So now I can't like the Cardinals for that, haha.

August 1, 2007  04:04 PM ET

Yeah. Maybe the Cardinals should just stop whining and beat everyone who has ever won a game against them in the World Series. JEEZ, what a bunch of whiners!

August 1, 2007  04:12 PM ET

Steve Bartman has doomed an entire franchise for eternity. This explains why the White Sox won 2 years later.

He also took partial credit for 9/11.

August 1, 2007  04:15 PM ET

Whining? I just said I didn't like them, I didn't whine.

August 1, 2007  04:24 PM ET

I was joking, Detroitfan.

August 1, 2007  04:25 PM ET

I meant the Cardinals whining about losing the WS, which they weren't. I was just making fun of bwj.

August 1, 2007  04:37 PM ET

Oh ok, I didn't get it. I thought you meant I whined since the Tigers lost the WS, lol. Sorry about that. BWJ2008, Your from Minnesota and you have a Michigan Helmet. Can you not make up your mind about something?

August 1, 2007  04:38 PM ET

Any Cubs fan who blames that series loss on Bartman should be linched. He only had to do with one play...ONE PLAY and it wasn't even certain that the foul ball was going to be caught. The Cubs CHOKED in the NLCS and gave it away on their own. Time to own up.

August 1, 2007  04:40 PM ET

Maybe a linching is extreme but I'm just trying to get my point across. Leave the guy alone. Lets talk about Prior and Woods who decided to go home in the middle of the series against the Marlins.

Well, anyone who blames the guy that wasn't a potential player in the game for catching the ball, is just sad.
