(Never got a chance to play in a Super Bowl)

Cris Carter.
He is 2nd all-time in career receptions, and he took in 130 TD's.
Playing for the Eagle for 3 years, he didn't play much and didn't get a chance.
For the Vikings, they were for the most of the time, not very good.

Carter was a bright spot in a fading franchise, which had appeared in 4 SBs in 8 years and never won, and while Carter was there they had a few chances to get there, but the TEAM never did.

Carter never got to play in a Super Bowl, and he definatly deserved to get a try, and a win, but never did.

(P.S.: Don't give me any bulls**t like "It doesn't matter if he deserved it, because he never got there. I s**t like that. Actually argue the TD please.)

Barry Sanders

Arguably the best running back ever.

The perfect weapon to build a team around.....unless your last name is ford and you run your team like you build your cars.

3rd all time rushing yards, but we all know why he's 3rd and not 1st by miles and miles....literally.

Still blazed defenses even though they knew that the ball was going to him.

So hard to tackle that defenders focused strictly on wrapping him up rather than hitting him hard.

Here is why I chose Carter over Sanders:
Carter played a position at which there are very few at the very top rankings in. There are only 3 (Soon to be 4 with Harrison) people to ever catch 1,000 passes.
There are 6 people to pass the RB's milestone of 13,000 yards.

Also, Carter is very underappreciated for his efforts and Sanders is often hailed as Detroits savior.

Carter is not underappreciated at all....all those endorsements? no way. He's the most heralded minn receiver ever. he's a loud mouth to boot...and that is something sanders NEVER was. He is basically one of the classiest players ever to play NFL football.

In addition, Carter didn't have the offense on his shoulders like Sanders did. Carter also didn't win a heisman like sanders did either. Sanders has shown supreme dominance on every level of football he's played and he deserves a ring more than carter

Sanders was also a top 5 overall draft pick.

Cris Carter wa a forth round pick in the SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT.

For those of you who don't know, the Supplemental Draft is for the players who get signed to a practice squad immediatly...it is worse than being an undrafted free agent as a rookie.

That's not better than being the best you can be at every level like Sanders. And with how amazing sanders is, he completely deserved to be a top 5 pick. Don't you think? All the more reason he deserves a ring more.

Bottom line, Barry was way more valuable to his team and he stayed completely humble throughout his entire career. You can't say the same thing about Carter.

I definitely think that Carter is a great receiver, but Barry is one of the most talented and hardest working players in history and a total class act

No one can argue against Huggy Barr!!

I liked Sanders. He was fun to watch, unbelievable at times and you didn't hear him tooting his own horn.

August 2, 2007  08:29 PM ET

exactly...he didn't even celebrate his TD's...he'd just hand the ball to the ref and go back to the sideline.

he's the type of player you try to teach your kid to play like, in terms of attitude and how one carries themself.

I did say deserving didn't I?

I'm pretty sure I didn't say popular.....

August 2, 2007  08:32 PM ET

This is a stupid TD, they had their chance and they didn't seize it, so it's their fault.

August 2, 2007  08:33 PM ET

They didn't have a chance, governator, thats the point. Their teams never got there...

August 2, 2007  08:33 PM ET

P.S. I'm the better Schwarzenegger!

August 2, 2007  08:34 PM ET

Every time you step on a field you have a chance.

August 2, 2007  08:34 PM ET

I don't know, ya'll should throwdown to decide!!!

August 2, 2007  08:38 PM ET

this isn't a stupid TD. you can't be one guy out of 22 and be able to shape your own destiny.

if governator's going to take that stance, then he should say that Butkus was nothing, because he never played on a great team....doesn't that sound foolish?

August 2, 2007  08:41 PM ET

Me. (sob)

August 2, 2007  08:52 PM ET

Sanders wasn't just popular, he was also deserving.

August 2, 2007  09:23 PM ET

They came close...
They lost to the Washington Redskins.
I don't like them anymore, lol.

(Detroit Lions and Barry Sanders)

August 2, 2007  09:29 PM ET

yeah, it was too bad they had to go up against the super-skins. Those guys walloped most teams to death.

Remember they played eachother the first game that year and WSH just killed the lions like 42-7....so natually everyone is thinking "great another horrible season", then the lions just went buck wild and went 8-0 at home and 4-4 on the road. and FLUCKED the cowboys up like 38-3 in the 2nd round.

and that was after dallas upset chicago after chicago blew the last game of the year, losing to San Fran and finishing 11-5, giving detroit the division and the 1st round bye.

what a great year to watch the lions!

the supplemental draft is NOT worse than being an undrafted rookie. it is for players who for some reason (usually academic difficulties) have to declare after the draft, and teams that make supplemental picks then lose their corresponding picks the next year. Bernie Kosar was another supplemental draft star and Brian Bosworth was ... well, a wasted supplemental pick. :)

Govenator, I thought an NFL team was comprised of 53 players, not 1. It takes an entire team to win. Barry Sanders couldn't tackle and blitz as well as run the ball. According to Buddy Ryan Carter could "only make touchdowns". So how would either account for the rest of the team's shortcomings (especially on the Lions)?
