I think that Hanley Ramirez, Miguel Cabrera, and Prince Fielder have long since passed the moniker "Players to watch for the future". I argue that these guys are already established stars at their positions! In the present!
Coletrain said 08/13, 10:33 AM
The TD stated "5 Players To Watch For The Future UNDER 25. Years Old" didn't say they had to be in the minors or that you couldn't use Prince Fielder, Hanley, Or Cabrera. hey are under 25 so they are still young and not in their prime yet.
Jazinho said 08/13, 10:42 AM
"To watch for the future" seems to imply they haven't arrived yet. Like some sort of prediction...
But OK.
David Wright over Prince (Stellar defense at the hot corner and relative speed on the base paths). Who would you choose if starting a team today?
Felix Hernandez over Phil Hughes. Explosive stuff, just 21 too, 367Ks in 400 innings pitched. 3.96 era which will come down as he matures and refines his stuff.
Coletrain said 08/13, 10:46 AM
Wright is a good choice but he will probably become a 1B later in his career and his power has gone down since the HR Derby last year. I'll admit you got me on Felix. I totally forgot about him. But I would rather have Fielder over Wright.

I won't take it. I would have done it differently with "Players to Watch In The Future" as minor leaguers. So I'll decline...

Good TD. I didn't make the subject so I don't know if I was meant to use minor leaguers.

So the vote comes down to a two player package.
Would you prefer David Wright and Felix Hernandez or Prince Fielder and Phil Hughes?

Jaz, I want Prince and Hughes. You know why? Because Hughes is in the package. I'd take Hughes and Gordon over Felix and Wright as well.

Fair enough. I just wonder if people are underestimating the impact that a great defensive 3B can have on a game/season. He steals runs from the opposition. While, unless you are Jason Giambi, anyone can play 1st. But I appear to be alone in my opinion.

Not to mention Felix is better than Phil...but only time will tell. I'll come back in ten years and tell everybody "told you so". Till then looks like I'm 1-3.
