Jake Westbrook will NOT rush for 1300 yards this year

Westbrook will see a significant drop in his carries and consequently his production this year. He is a great back, but he is in a system under a coach who tends to favor the pass. McNabb's injury opened the door for Westbrook to have a breakout year, but the return of McNabb will cause a drop in Westbrooks touches.


Brian Westbrook? After McNabb went down last year Westbrook's touches went up and the Eagles won games. That will not be lost on Reid, especially since McNabb is on a suspect ACL and will need to be protected as much as possible. Westbrook will have at least as many touches as last year.


Cut me some slack. I have Indians on the mind.

But still, that was bad, I knew who I was talking about, but I typed the wrong name. I'm sorry, and we all know that Jake Westbrook definitely won't rush for more than 1300 yards in his entire career, so maybe I win by default....

But Brian Westbrook...

As it stands, the Eagles have McNabb as their starting QB. Yes, McNabb could get injured again. But unless and until until he does, the Eagles will pass A LOT more than they will run. Westbrook's touches HAVE to go down if the Eagles start to pass more.

Let's do this mathematically.

Brian Westbrook gets 200-220 touches this year (he had 240 last year, so I'm being generous). If he averages 5.1 (last years average), than he's on pace to gain 1200 yards MAX (once again, I'm being generous). Last year he ran for 1217 yards, and I think he'll be lucky to get that much.


My argument remains the same. After McNabb went down last year Westbrook assumed a greater load of the offense and proved that he can handle it. McNabb is going to be protected and why would they not do the same thing they did as the latter part of last year? Westbrook will get plenty of touches. He's an explosive player who has proven his durability and he will be used accordingly.


Yes, Brian Westbrook is a great running back. But you forget that in the years prior, Westbrook ran for a great average. But still, he got few carries. In 03 he rushed for a 5.2 average. since then he hasn't been below 4. We all know he can handle being the main offensive player. But if he was meant to do it with McNabb around, it already would have happened. Sure, if Westbrook had average or above-average carries he'd rush for 1300, maybe 1400 yards each season. But it ain't going to happen as long as McNabb's playing.


When do I just win this? 13-9? That's retarded. 13 smart people and 9 ****? That's a frightening ratio. YOU drink too much.
