1. Steve Nash (Yeah)
2. Chris Paul (Once he has some talent around him LOOKOUT!!)
3. Baron Davis (Made people look silly in the playoffs last season.)
4. Jason Kidd (Been doing it for some time now and isn't showing any signs of slowing.)
5. Deron Williams (Up-and-comer that has some weapons to work with)

I'm not sure why you wouldn't have Chauncey Billups in your top 5. Did you just take the leading assist PG from last year? Theres more to it than that. The Pistons basically live or die on his play alone. Although Chris Paul is good player, you have to put Billups ahead of him. Here is my top 5.

Steve Nash
Jason Kidd
Chauncey Billups
Deron Williams
Chris Paul

What happened to Chauncey in the playoffs last year? Chauncey is not in the top 5 because Baron is better than him. Flat out.

Where do you see that Billups is better than Davis?

Did Baron Davis lead his team to a NBA championship? How many times has his teams been to the playoffs or won a series? Just because the Mavericks played like total crap you're saying he belongs in the top 5. That's nuts. Look at the body of work for both players and you'll see Billups is better than Davis. One year doesn't constitute a good reason to be among the elite PG of the league. Billups stats may not show he's in the top 5 but he has all the intangibles to make his team better in the clutch. He didn't get it done last year in the playoffs but none of his teammates helped either. Billups makes plays when his team needs him the most. The key to Davis is to make him frustrated...he loses his cool. It was obvious in the 2nd round when the Jazz and Williams played superior ball over the Warriors

Those are team accomplishments that you are trying to compare. Is Horace Grant a better player than Kevin Garnett because of his rings? I dont think so.

If Billups makes plays when they need it the most where was he against the Cavs in double OT? Where was he to make his team "better in the clutch" as you say?

You need to look at these players as the players that they are, not how well their teams have done. Just imagine if BD never was hurt? He would be insanely good right now.

Baron Davis has better statistics because Golden State plays an up-tempo style of offense. Put Chauncey in his shoes and his numbers would be improved. Also, Billups plays great shutdown defense against the opposing teams PG. While Davis and the Warriors need to score a ton just to compensate for their lack of a good defense.

The fact remains Billups has played in big-time games and has succeeded while Davis has won a playoff series against the sorriest #1 seed in playoff history. Billups and the Pistons beat Shaq and the heavily favored Lakers in '04. He was the finals MVP and led his team to the championship. If it weren't for him and his clutch performances, the Pistons wouldn't have won or returned to the finals a year later. He didn't get the moniker Mr. Big shot by accident.

Billups- Finals MVP, 2 finals appearances

Davis- 0 Finals MVP, and 0 appearances

And yes players are measured by their overall success and number of rings.

WH0RE LOL

The Pistons have a lot of role players on their team but no true superstar. I think that get's overlooked quite a bit. Everytime the game comes down to the wire the ball is in Billups' hands, not Wallace, Rip, or Prince. It's not like he has a ton either.

August 12, 2007  11:17 PM ET

Talent that is.

August 12, 2007  11:20 PM ET

Well, just put that in your argument then.

HE has more talent around him than Jamal Magloire and a banged up Jamal Mashburn (Hornets) Bottom line is you talk about championships and well that has to do with Team and well Billups his whole Career has had more talent around him than
