As of July 2nd, 4pm MST the worst contract I have seen is that of Joe Johnsons new contract with the Hawks being a 6 year deal for $119 Million.
He is 29, which means his prime is now, being sent home early in the playoffs. He is a 2nd option behind Josh Smith and when this contract is over he will be 35. 20 Million Dollars a season, thats almost at Kobe Bryant pay level. More than many All Star Franchise Players.
He averaged 11.8 PPG and 29.5 FG% shooting in the 2nd round of the Playoffs, the Big Stage, when your team needs you most you suck. Thats not a $20 Million Dollar Player. I mean in 2016 they are going to pay him $20 Million. LMAO
This is worst than the Tracy Mcgrady Contract that just finished, but Tmac was a more prolific and athletic player. This is crazy talk. But it just happened.
What do you believe to be the worst contract we have seen in the NBA in the last couple days of Free Agency deals?

They cant actually be signed yet and you know this, Joe.....!!!!!
What makes NO SENSE is resigning John Salmons (over 30) when they just traded for Corey Maggette (also over 30 and never much of a defender) and Chris Douglas-Roberts (smart move, solid young player).
With Michael Redd on the books for 18 million next season. Trade, you say?
Hah, who is going to trade for Redd's bloated contract given his penchant for playing in sooooo few games?
No team is lining up to take him on.
Just 51 games the last 2 years. The only person that is as injury prone is Gil "The Shooter" Arenas who has played in just 47 games the last 3 years.
What the hell were the Bucks thinking???
The Hawks had to resign Johnson. He is the heart of the Hawks team.
If they let him walk and started his backup, Jamal Crawford? They would be just like all the other teams Crawford played for before last season.
Johnson is a better passer, scorer, rebounder and defender than Crawford. They HAD to resign him or risk falling off the NBA radar again.
Good Luck, Joe. Its been a while, old friend.....

Johnson is 29 so you think Salmons is the worst signing by using logic saying that he is 30 years old. Well the 39 year old Salmons signed a 5 year deal at $40 million. Thats just above the Mid Level Exception. Joe Johnson signed a 6 year deal worth $119 Million, Max money, he will be paid $20 Million at age 36. Salmons will be off his contract at age 36, even at age 35, and at 35 the Bucks will pay about $8 Million for his services. Decent contract.
Your logic at using age as a factor against Salmons proves my point even further of Joe Johnson having the worst contract since he is going to be on the Hawks Roster when he is 36 years of age on this earth we live on.
Thanks for picking this up DJ, its been a while, this is great. I am glad to be back, just finished up my Bachelors.
Joe Johnsons deal is way worse than Salmons, obviously the Bucks are trying to have back up options for Redd and injuries that could occur, its happened to the Bucks the last few years. Plus they can use these guys at the 2 and 3 spots so its not too much of a log jam.
Joe Johnson is probably the 2nd best player on the team, by the time this contract is done he will be worse.

Since players cant sign until next week, I am arguing worst offseason move!!! Try and keep up, Joe. Work on the reading comprehension there big guy.....LOL
The Bucks traded for Maggette and they follow that up with RESIGNING Salmons? Thats ludicrous.
Redd is going to be nearly impossible to move. The only place I could see him going would be New Orleans since Paul needs a legit SG beside him.
BUT the Hornets are so cash strapped that they are considering TRADING Paul. So Redd isnt going to a team that could actually use his services.
Johnson might have been overpaid but it happens all the time in the NBA. They overpaid him to keep their nucleus intact. And how do you know he will be the worst player by the time his contract runs out?
JJ keeps himself in good shape and 35 (not 36) isnt exactly 40!!!
He averaged 21.3ppg, 4.9apg, 4.6rpg and 1.1spg while shooting 45.8%, 36.9% and 81.8% on FT's. Those are excellent numbers. Sure, he sucked **** against the Magic but basketball is a team game and nobody else stepped up.
Crawford shot 33% while scoring 17ppg.
Smith scored just 15.8ppg.
Horford scored just 13ppg.
JJ doesnt deserve all the blame.

Happy 4th, Joe. There is no excuse for a forfeited turn and that comes from someone that has like 7 TD's the last couple days. It only takes 20-30 minutes to type in an effective argument.....
And I still stand by the fact that the Salmons signing made no sense. Not from a dollars point of view (like you seemed to comprehend) but from the fact they just traded for Maggette. If they had plans on re-signing John, they never should have traded for Maggette.
It just shows that they have no direction.
Because Redd is virtually (stating it again to drum in your skull) UNTRADEABLE....
Glad to see you back, FN can never have enough effective TD Wh0re's.....
