A little early, but I'm bored.

Main card only

Try to have at least two differences.

Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen

I would love an upset, my gut keeps telling me upset, but my brain says my guts a damned moron. Anderson Silva shouldn't have too much trouble, and will be fired up after Sonnen's speech.

Thiago Alvez vs Jon Fitch

The battle for the second best WW. Fitch beat Alvez the last time, and I pick him to do it again. Fitch may not be exciting, but he sticks to his game plan and controls his opponents on the ground. Alvez will have some ring rust. Fitch via decisin.

Clay Guida vs Rafael Dod Anjos

This is wrestling vs BJJ in this matchup, so this will definitely be a ground fight. BJJ usually wins out, but I'll take Guida due to his experience.

Matt Hughes vs Ricardo Almeida

Hope I'm wrong, but Almeida is my pick. Hughes is getting old and this isn't Renzo Gracie. Almeida is barely out of his prime and is a 3rd degree BJJ black belt.

Roy Nelson vs Junior Dos Santos

This will be closer than most think, but I still like JDS in this one.

Silva vs Sonnen

I kind of get the same feeling you have here. Sonnen could smother Anderson and try to grind out a decision. We've seen Anderson have a little troube with good wrestlers. Henderson beat him up pretty good in the first round of their fight. But I dont see him being able to maintain it for 5 rounds, and Anderson at some point is going to KO Sonnen.

Alves vs Fitch

Im taking Alves here. Being out of action for 13 months concerns me a little, and I know Fitch beat Alves already but that was 4 years ago, and was a little flukey. Alves standup is 10 times better than Fitch, and his TDD is really solid. I think Alves is going to win this one by TKO.

Guida vs Dos Anjos

This is our second difference. I cant stand Guida, one of the most overrated fighters in the UFC. He just plain sucks to me. Dos Anjos has looked real good in his last few fights, and I see him submitting Guida, whos been submitted many times before.

Hughes vs Almeida

Agree. Hughes is washed up, and will be worked over by Almeida. Almeidas ground game will be too much for Hughes.

Neslon vs Dos Santos

Agree. Dos Santos, but it will be close and I think Nelson at +275 is a good play

Fitch over Alvez

Honestly, I wouldn't surprised either way this fight goes.

Both have a strong case as the number 2 WW, but I like Fitch better in this one.

I can't disagree that Alvez is better standing up, but I do think Fitch has the advantage on the ground, and that's where I see this fight going.

I see Fitch doing about what he did in the Saunders fight, and control Alvez on the ground and earn the decision victory.

Fitch is a great wrestler, and has some jiu-Jitsu mixed in with it.

I almost picked Alves, but the year off is what made me lean towars Fitch.

I'm looking forward to this fight.

Guida over Dos Anjos

I'm not a fan of Guida either, but he is a halfway decent fighter with a good wrestling background.

I like Dos Anjos, and I like him to be a great fighter down the road, but Guida has much more experience in the octagon, and this will be Dos Anjos' first test in the octagon since he lost to Tyson Griffin.

This will go to the ground, but I think Guida's experience will earn him a victory in this one.

Fitch vs Alves

Gotta agree, this fight could go either way,but I do think Alves take down defense is worlds better than it was in their first fight. I know GSP was able to take Alves down at will, but lets be honest, who cant GSP take down at will? Also, Alves got up numerous times, so even if Fitch gets him down, I dont think he can keep him down.

Alves is a beast, a wrecking ball on the feet, and he's going to keep the fight standing and take him apart with his muay thai. Im sticking to my TKO prediction.Fitch has bad standup still, and hasnt improved much, while Alves has improved greatly, and his muay thai will overpower Fitch. The key to the fight will be Alves keeping it standing, and I think he does long enough to hurt Fitch.

Guida vs Dos Anjos

Guida does have good wrestling, but he does nothing with it. Dos Anjos will have a big advantage on the feet, and if Guida takes him down, he's in Dos Anjos world.

I see Dos Anjos getting the better of the fight standing, and if it goes to the mat, I see Dos Anjos with the advantage too, and eventually tapping Guida. I dont see where Guida has an advantage. Maybe he can lay n pray his way to a decision, but I doubt it

Fitch vs Alvez

If Alves can keep this fight standing, then he will have a definite upper hand, and I'm sure his take down defense has improved, but Jon Fitch still has great takedown ability.

Even if Alves manages to get up when Fitch takes him down, those takedowns all look good to the judges, and I don't see either of them finishing the other.

Fitch is not a very exciting fighter, he has a gameplan and he sticks with it and grinds out decisions.

I don't see this fight going any differently.

I would probably agree with you if Alves would have fought during the last year, but he hasn't and I think that effected Lesnar and Rampage a good bit.

Guida isn't outmatched on the ground.

You say he doesn't do much with his wrestling, but he has a long list of submission victories.

I see Guida doing just what you say though, lay and pray his way to a decision victory.

Give Dos Anjos a couple years and this fight won't be close, but he is still fairly green at 25 years old.

Guida speaks out a decision.

Good TD once again Jim.

So I guess the Alves-Fitch comes down to whether you think Alves can stuff takedowns or not. Im going to say he will be able to stuff takedowns and eventually hurt Fitch standing. Fitch is a very good wrestler, but Koscheck is much better, and Alves shut his wrestling down and beat him up on the feet.

I see a similar situation here. And like I said, Fitch is the same fighter he was 4 years ago. Alves is not. Alves is a monster now, and is more focused than ever. I think the Saunders-Fitch fight gave Alves some tips as how to go about a gameplan in this fight, as Saunders is also a Muay Thai fighter. Difference being Alves can stuff takedowns and is strong enough to get back to his feet.

You say Guida has a long list of submission wins, but none against a guy even close to Dos Anjos on the ground. Guida also has been submitted many times. His standup is pathetic, and Dos Anjos will pick him apart. Guida's only chance is to take Dos Anjos down, but if he does he risks being submitted.

You say Dos Anjos is green, but this will be his 19th MMA fight, and he's on a nice 3 win streak in the UFC. His last fight, he beat an undefeated Etim, and looked the best he ever has.

So I don't think Anderson will dance around like he did with Maia.

July 6, 2010  08:09 PM ET

The only one I disagree with is Dos Anjos. I have him winning by submission.

July 6, 2010  08:11 PM ET

After watching that video, I hope Silva breaks his friggin face.

I'm pulling for an upset.

Sonnen is second to only Wandy as my favorite MW.

I was pulling for it too, but he comes off as an arrogant jerk, honestly. It's like hey Sonnen, this is Anderson SIlva you are trash talking.

It will probably take a few fights before I forgive Anderson for dancing around against Maia and not just finishing the fight.

I wasn't at Anderson after the Leites fight because Leites was the one that laid down the entire time, but the Maia fight was inexcusable.

Agreed. The dude is one cocky S.O.B. Seems like one of those guys you either love or hate. I'm an Anderson Silva fan, so he came across as a big douche in that interview. I'm hoping Silva comes out and embarrasses him Forrest Griffin style

I guess I'm one of the ones that loves him.

Then again, I like Josh koscheck and have been a fan of Lesnar and BJ Penn for a while.

I have mixed feelings though.

I would love to see Sonnen beat Anderson, but if he does, then I may never get my dream of Shogun beating Anderson Silva.

I liked Koscheck too. And BJ. I like the new Lesnar from the fight the other night. But Sonnen just came across as a stuck up type of guy. Silva is by far my favorite wrestler tho

Silva is not a wrestler.

I liked Lesnar's UFC 100 post fight interview.

All of my favorite fighters would be doing great if only Penn didn't lose to Edagr and Hendo didn't get out wrestled by Shields(God I hate Jake Shields. Most boring champ in MMA).

Wrestler = MMA fighter to me. I'm used to referring to them as WWE wrestlers. Same difference

I like most fighters. The only one I really don't like is Lesnar. I can't stand how he treats UFC like WWE after fights and in interviews.

I especially don't like him now, after MMAJunkie reported that he seemed to have been KO'd twice in the Carwin fight, but the ref refused to stop it.

No where near the same.

Chael Sonnen is a wrestler though.

WWE is closer to a soap opera than it is to MMA.

I caught the fight immediately after that part. The link online sucked. I saw the highlights. Looked like he got rocked for sure.

Following UFC 100, he seemed like a WWE wrestler in a UFC world. I agree on that. But this last interview, he seemed like a more humble type of guy. Maybe it was his near death injury, but he's a new guy

Oh I agree they aren't the same. Just the way I refer to them. I just blend them all into the same thing sometimes. I completely agree they aren't the same

I see WWE being gone in the near future. MMA is definitely taking over

I think he was truly humbled by Carwin.

He was very classy in his interview.

The only fighters I really hate are...

Bitchping
Jake Shields
Anderson Silva
Lyoto Machida
GSP

Unless you count the gimmick fighters that some promotions put on.

Jose Canseco
James Toney
Kimbo
Bobby Lashley

I don't hate Hershel due to my UGA fanhood.

Only would have changed the Alves fight. Really hope Sonnen wins though, thought his interview was hilarious
