All NBA team. players must be American and also have gone to college. No Dirk, Lebron, Nash, Kobe etc.

Pg Jason Kidd
Sg Dwyane Wade
Sf Carmelo Anthony
Pf Tim Duncan
C Marcus Camby

We meet again screamindemon68.

PG Chris Paul
SG Gilbert Arenas-a positive influence on and off the court
SF Shawn Marion
PF Ben Wallace
C Shaquille O'Neal

PG Kidd is both a better rebounder and defender. What kidd brings as a leader transcends statistics plus, he averaged a triple double in the playoff, something unheard of. No one in the nba can take over a game without scoring like Kidd

SG While Arenas is slightly a better scorer Wade is definitely the better all around player. How is arenas a positive influence off the court? He is an arrogant wanna be Kobe. Wade shares the ball more and shoots a higher percentage. Not to mention he has already led his team to a championship.
Wade 27.4 ppg 7.5 assists 4.7 rebounds 2 steals
Arenas 28.4 ppg 6 assists 4.6 rebounds 2 steals

SF Marion is one of my favorite players but Melo is just so much of a better scorer (+11 ppg). He can take over a game completely, something marion doesnt do. Marion is great at doing the dirty work but hes not a true superstar like Melo.

Ill do the next PF and C in the next arguement.

Arenas is not an arrogant wannabe Kobe like you said. He mentors a ten year old DC boy who lost everything to a fire. He goes shopping, bowling, and acts like a brotherly figure to him. He even got him a job as a ball boy.
Kidd is a great leader, however CP3 is younger and is arguably the best young leader in the NBA.
Marion is a better all-around player than Melo. Marion blows Melo's socks off defensively, whereas Melo is much better offensively than Marion.
There is no one better than Duncan, I canadmit that. Ben Wallace is a defensive monster, though. And is arguably one of the best shot blockers and rebounders in the league.
Shaq is still dominant, but not as dominant as he used to be. He can still dunk on people. Camby has no offensive skills whatsoever.

What arenas did off the court doesnt matter in this argument. We are talking about how they did on the court and Wade has Arenas beat or tied in every single catagory except points. Even in scoring Arenas shot a horrible percentage at 42%. that is the 2nd lowest out of any of the top 50 scorers last year. Wade shot 49%. He is a much better passer and team player and about equal as a scorer.

with regards to Paul being young doesnt matter in this case. We are talking about how good they are now.

Here are Marion and Melos stats
Marion 17.5 ppg 10 reb. 1.7 assists
Melo 29 ppg 6 reb. 4 assists.
I agree Marion is much better defensively but Melo is just too dominant of an offensive force. His assist numbers surprised even me.

. Duncan did average more blocks and the same amout of rebounds as Big Ben.

Shaq is not dominant. not anymore. He cant play defense and still cant shoot free throws. Camby was the best defensive player last year and still chipped in 11 ppg on a team with Melo and Iverson. He even averaged more assists than Shaq. I would definitely take a dominant defensive player who can score when needed over an old player who cant rebound or defend.

Arenas is the better scorer, but Wade is the better passer. Look at these stats from this year:
Arenas had 28.4 ppg, 35% from 3pt range, and 84% from the line
Wade had 27.4 ppg, 27% from 3pt range, and 81% from the line

Also, Arenas is not like the stereotypical scoring guard. He doesn't shoot where his teammates shoot. Antawn Jamison likes to attack the baseline and shoot the corner. Caron Butler loves to score from the wing. Arenas lets his teammates shoot there.

As in the case for Marion vs. Melo, I would take a guy who played top tier defense and had a pretty good offensive game over a guy who plays great offense and OK defense.

I don't even need to talk about Duncan, I am a Suns fan and I think he will be one of the greats.

As in the case for Shaq vs. Camby, people are still intimidated by Shaq, and Camby is not that intimidating.

To recap my team, I have: a young PG with good leadership, a SG who can score and get to the line, a do-it-all SF, a defensive stopper at PF, and an intimidating C.

damn i wanted this

sorry for declining this before, misread it

Wallace is not center, but my vote still goes to eaglesmaniac melo is not better than marion and shaq is better than camby.

Report Offensive Comment

By the way. Wallace is a PF/C hybrid. I put him at PF because of his height and that is his natural position.

It's who performs better in the NBA, not college so there is no way you can put Paul over Kidd. Wade over Arenas, definitely. You could say Dwyane is a positive influence on and off the court as well. Marion over Melo. Duncan over Wallace and it's not even close. If we're talking right now, Camby over Shaq but if we're talking about their NBA career it's Shaq. I assume you are talking about the former so my vote goes to screamindemon. Nice throwdown topic once again by the way.

ah whatever il just do the PF and C here in the comments.

Duncan is so much better than Wallace its not even close. Both are great defenders but Duncan has the best post game in the nba. Wallace has absolutely no offensive repretoire. Duncan is arguably the greatest PF ever. Wallace is just a good defender who dropped off last year.

Shaq is still great but Camby is the DPOY. Currently is a much better defender, shot blocker, rebounder, and even passer. Shaq is just too old now.

how in the hell is Arenas a good influence on the court? dude's looking out for himself and only himself.

Report Offensive Comment

no duncan really hurts you eaglemaniac, but the rest of your team is better. Point to you.

Report Offensive Comment

Is Duncan American? He is from the Virgin Islands I believe

Report Offensive Comment

He played for the US in the 2004 Olympics.

Report Offensive Comment

Camby not intimidating? Hoe can you say the DPOY is not intimidating? Any one who blocks shots like he does make even the best scorers think twice when driving.

Report Offensive Comment

u cant go wrong with Gilbert

Report Offensive Comment

i love how whenever someone is wrong, they pull out the "that doesn't matter in this argument" card. i automatically vote against them.

Where did i do that? I asked how Arenas was a positive influence off the court. He answered the question and than i mentioned that it doesnt matter, which it doesnt.
