**lets assume Ohio State makes it to the title game for this TD
a 1 loss Bama deserves a place in the BCS title game OVER an undefeated Boise team.
Why?
bc Boise plays ONE tough game. V-Tech. Yeah, Oregon State is barely ranked now...but that PALES in comparison with Bama's schedule
which, by the way, is the #2 toughest schedule in the nation
Is Boise good? No doubt.
But even their supporters were saying on ESPN last nite "now boise has to try to win each game by 20 points" REALLY??
IS THIS NCAA 2012 set on junior varsity level???
Bama has to play big boy teams.
Boise gets to play a full season of 2nd tier squads
Hell, just imagine if LSU or Auburn or Florida has Boise's schedule!
Imagine if BAMA got to play Boise's schedule!
I wish we had a compueter program that would design all 119 team's schedules so that ALL TEAMS plays close to an equal schedule.
But til that time comes we have to respect the fact that a 1 loss bama is MORE DESERVING than an undefeated Boise.
could Boise beat LSU/UF/AUand V-Tech in 1 year?
we know they can get up fo ONE game....but could they do it 5,6x a year?

Boise State Broncos deserve a chance at the championship as much as any team out there. The WAC is the WAC. We know that. The BCS is all wacky we all know that. Boise deserves a chance. All they do is win, no matter what.
It started way back in 2007 when an amazing season. With an undefeated season and a HUGE win over the heavy favored Oklahoma. I can see people saying Boise was a fluke because it was one win in one big game but come on now.. They win win win the big games. You can never count out Boise.
A undefeated regular season in 2008-2009 with a tough loss in the bowl game to TCU. Both teams can play football. No matter Boise's schedule you still have to play and win the games.
IS THIS NCAA 2012 set on junior varsity level???
Can I get a copy of 2012? I only have 2011...
I would bet on it that Boise could play with the so called "big boys" . They have before in bowl games and even regular season games.. Oregon, Va Tech, Oklahoma ring some bells.
Boise is legit.

so if 2 runner race 100 meters.....but one of them runs on FLAT ground and the other runs UPHILL then it was a fair race?
HELL NO
Bama's "race" is uphill
Boise's "race" was 1 serious game and then 11 cupcakes
Boise will be "legit" when it plays a TOUGHER schedule
not the 95th ranked schedule
anyone can get up for ONE game
try doing it week after week

Wowers..Helluva of an argument you got there bud. Whew. Almost forgot about this one didn't Bear? Alright now on to the business at hand.
so if 2 runner race 100 meters.....but one of them runs on FLAT ground and the other runs UPHILL then it was a fair race?
HELL NO
Umm...no I never said that. But it is a fair race if both people have an advantage... Alabama gets much more media, TV time and all that good stuff than Boise State which leads to more recruits. Bama gets these 5 star recruits likes like Herbstreit gets bottles of hair product. That is an advantage.
Think of it this way..What if Boise State got Bama recruits? Boise is already good enough to beat top tier teams with the talent they have. They have already showed us they can. Add Bama like talent at every position it would be a dominant force.
There number 3 in the nation with a bunch of kids from Idaho! LOL Come on!
Boise State is worthy of a national championship. I acknowledge Bama is good and maybe better then BSU BUT Boise deserves the same chance as Bama does at a nat'l champion ship.
Bear likes this DEFENSE said 09/08, 07:02 PM
1. if you think Boise isnt getting enough media coverage you are nuts
2. Boise has equal opportunity to get the top recruits. They are free to knock on every door Nick Saban knocks on.
3. you are right...they are highly ranked...and who did they beat to earn it?
TCU last year. V-Tech this week.
Lets compare conferences, since you think these guys have a FAIR race
WHO WINS EACH GAME?
WAC vs SEC
Boise State v Bama
Nevada v Florida
Fresno State v LSU
Idaho v Auburn
Hawaii v Georgia sounds familiar....
Louisiana Tech v South Carolina
Utah State v Tennessee
New Mexico State v Ole Miss
San Jose State v Arkansas
WHO WINS THOSE GAMES?
Boise's road is flat and narrow and SAFE.....Bama's road is uphill and guarded by pitt bulls and ninjas
a 1 loss Bama is more worthy than a 0 loss Boise
and FYI....a "5 star" recruit is a subjective term. How many "5 stars" turn out to be busts?
Good coaching is good coaching. Saban (and Peterson) both can get more out of a guy than the average coach.
The POINT is we need a system that helps level out all the schedule strengths.
until then we HAVE to give respect to teams that play tougher 1s
Assassin: Simile Next year said 09/09, 04:02 PM
Boise gets talked about..Yes, but how many games are on TV? Who has more media coverage Bama or Boise? I believe everyone will say Bama. More recruits go to Alabama.
Boise deserves there ranking. They have been going undefeated or one loss for what like 3 years now? The win. How else do you compare teams? We do it but winning. How many wins did they have?
I already acknowledged that the WAC is weak. We know that. Boise still plays the games and still wins. You are comparing teams and conferences. Let's look at this in a different light. Since you don't think Boise is legit at all.
Boise v Bama
Boise v Florida
Boise v LSU
Boise v Auburn
Boise v Georgia
Boise v South Carolina
Boise v Tennessee
Boise v Ole Miss
Boise v Arkansas
Now who wins those games? Boise State could beat every single one of those teams. Boise wins big games that they play in. All you are is a bitter Alabama fan. If Bama has one loss and Boise has zero and Boise makes it to the Nat'l championship and Bama doesn't you cry and say Boise isn't legit.
Get over it bud, Boise is here to play.
War out.

this is bigger than boise state...they need something more definative when it comes to the national championship but football will never be able to pull off a march madness type of tourny because the bowls will lose their relevance...college football will be forever doomed when it comes to actual ranking

The bowl games are already lost most of their relevance. Ever since the Texas vs USC Rose Bowl the ratings have declined for the most part and outside the BCS most bowls don't do very good ratings at all. I bet they would if they where part of a playoff system.
Ranking would still be used just like it is basketball. I think a tournament will happen eventually. To bad I might be 50 by than.

Boise State has done everything in their power to show they can compete. They will travel almost anywhere to play and are even moving to a stronger conference. This year they can't control their conference but how many of the so called "Big Boys" are scheduling two top 25 teams?
I know the SEC fans don't like it as they feel their conference winner should always be in but parity is good in all sports. I think its great Boise St is showing up the top programs. Could they do it if it was 4 tough games in a row? Maybe, Maybe not but I sure would like to see them try. Bring in a playoff. Too many good teams coming from all over the place.

I'm torn on this topic.
Every time Boise State has the national spotlight, they pull out a win, they never dissapoint.
But, they don't play anywhere near the schedule that any of the BCS conference teams plays (even the Big East).
So with that said, I don't know which side of the fence I'm on.

A guy with Bear Bryant thinks a one loss Alabama team deserves to play for the championship over two undefeated teams. What a surprise there.
So would that same reasoning apply when a one tie Notre Dame team was named national champion over an undefeated Alabama team (1966)?

I suspect that right is going to win. I think the coaches and voters are going to vote BSU and TCU into the National Championship Game. I would be amazed if tOSU, Bama or Texas will go undefeated. So, The season is over after the first week.

I can't wait...I can't wait to see the look on Nick Saban or Jim Tressels face when they face Boise State in the NC game and Boise pulls one of their signature trick plays. Hook and lateral anyone? I don't get how you can root against these guys. Remember the old saying friends, it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but its the size of the fight in the dog and Boise has just as much fight as anyone. Just ask Virginia Tech, Oregon, Oregon State, Oklahoma, Utah and all of the other big programs they've beaten in the last few seasons.

Left's argument is based on the postulate that, even though BSU would be riding a 27 game winning streak, which would inlcude 4 ranked teams, a BCS bowl, and 3 top 15 teams, 2 of which will be BCS conference champions, they shouldn't be considered because, even though alabama got BEAT, losing to a good team is better than beating a bad one. This is ridiculous. Left, I think the SEC left you its bathwater for you to drink... better get on that before it gets cold.
