Yes.
Michael Vick had over 100 yards running the ball against the Packers defense in Week One as he rallied the Eagles. And last week he threw for 284 yards against the Lions in Week Two.
He has shaken off the rust from having spent time in prison and is showing the old Michael Vick when he used to play for the Falcons. He never got much of an opportunity to show or prove himself last year.
Andy Reid starting Vick is a smart decision and he gives the Eagles the best channce to win NOW in a tough but winnable Division.
Sure, I know they traded Donovan McNabb to the Redskins in the offseason and named Kevin Kolb the starter. But Kolb has never started a 16 game schedule and will be provided that opportunity next year (provided there is no lockout) when Vick walks as a free agent.
Disagree???
Lets Throwdown!!! Good luck to the person who accepts.

Michael Vick is a dynamic double threat QB that would help alot of teams in this league win right now. The Eagles may even be on that list. But the bottom line is that Kevin Kolb deserves to have his full chance.
Peyton Manning threw 28 INT in his first season, finished 3-13. Aaron Rodgers was 6-10, Drew Brees finished in last place his first season as a starter.
Now Im not saying that Kolb will be as good or close to as good as the above mentioned quarterbacks but the point I'm making is that if these guys would have been passed up after initial failure
Quarterback is one of the main positions in the league that truly needs to be "developed". Even the three best quarterbacks in the league today went through their fair share of growing pains.
I think Vick should get in the game, wildcat packages, running and throwing out of the package. But the bottom line is that you have no idea what you have in Kolb and youre not going to know until you give the man at least one full season at the helm of your team.

Well it looks like Vick is the PRESENT and FUTURE because the Eagles are now getting calls about Kevin Kolb and Vick has been named the starter.
Chances of Kolb being on the roster come October? My Crystal Ball says slim.
"I think Vick should get in the game, wildcat packages, running and throwing out of the package."
Why do people always say Vick would be great in the Wildcat?
The Wildcat is better suited to guys like Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.
Guys that run between the tackles. Not exactly Vick's strength. His speed is best utilized when he drops back to pass and the OL collapses and he has to improvise and make something happen out of nothing.
Or when he runs around the OL, NOT BETWEEN THE TACKLES....
I know Vick's speed and elusiveness makes him appealing in the Wildcat but its actually designed for the aforementioned types of players.
Vick has proven he can take the Falcons deep into the playoffs. You always take proven over the unknown. And despite 2 excellent games last year, Kolb is an unknown.
Not to mention he has more talent on Philadelphia than when he was with the Falcons.

The Eagles shopping Kolb is a mistake! Vick is on the wrong side of 30 to begin with and that one playoff run he had with Atlanta was how many years ago? You cant live in the past with him. He looked good against the Lions...not exactly a difficult feat in my opinion.
Yes he has talent around him but that has nothing to do with whether it should be him or Kolb that gets to use that talent. What if they deal Kolb and he turns out to be really good? Theyre going to look pretty dumb giving up on a 26 year old QB that they invested in. They got rid of McNabb, a proven winner, because they had so much faith in this guy. Now at the drop of a hat youre going to switch to Vick because he played a bad half? Not even a whole game but a half? That is truly ridiculous.
I say to give this man a full season with your team without the constant whispers of him losing his job after a bad pass and I think you may be surprised with how well he performs. And for the record, that bad half was also against the Packers, a team that many experts have picked to go to the super bowl so its not like he sucked it up against the Browns.

"Vick is on the wrong side of 30 to begin with and that one playoff run he had with Atlanta was how many years ago?"
Vick is 38-28-1 as a starting QB.
Kolb is 1-2.
And Vick is 2-2 in the postseason, went 1-1 in 2 different seasons. With a much worse supporting cast on offense.
And this season?
Against the same Green Bay defense?
Kolb was 5 of 10 for 24 yards (56.2 QB Rating) before leaving with an injury.
Vick was 16 of 24 for 175 yards and 1 TD (101.9 QB Rating) with 11 carries for 103 yards. Vick gives them a DUAL threat.
Wrong side of 30???
He just turned 30 in June and QB's are known to play well into their 30's (unlike RB's who take more of a pounding).
Plus he did not play for 2 years so he has even less "mileage" on his body.
Bottom line, in a very winnable NFC East, Vick gives them a better shot to win now. Rather than develop a QB who may or MAY NOT be very good.

Vick had one good game and people are ready to annoint him as the second coming. We do remember that this is the guy who had accuracy problems and people said couldnt pass from the pocket right? So he passes from the pocket against a bottom five pass defense in the league and all of a sudden hes incredible. Im not buying it.
The fact that Vick has been away so long will catch up to him when he plays a good team and as the wear and tear of the season gets worse. Yea he looked good one week, but for a guy who hasnt had a full time starting job since 2006 how will he hold up over the last 14 games? Last time he was a full time starter, he went 7-9 with a 52 % completiton percentage. Those numbers dont jump off the page to me and they dont seem to warrant him leapfrogging over the guy you named your starting quarterback.
The Eagles, as an organization invested in Kolb. They stuck with McNabb through the good and bad, and from day 1 that Vick was brought in, they made it clear that he was the backup QB to Kolb. To flip flop on that issue when Kolb hasnt had a real chance shows that they have no direction as an organization.
Starting Kevin Kolb is the right thing to do.

it's pretty damn hard to argue a guy who went 4-8 has pretty bad stats when he subbed in for McNabb, and got sacked 3 times instead of throwing the ball away

Kolb is also a free agent going into next year, I like Vick and hope he has another Pro Bowl year. If he leads PHI to playoffs, he is not a bad long term solution. He is 30 and in good shape. Another 3-5 years at the QB spot will be good for him.

Of course it could be because I have Vick and DeSean Jackson on one of my fantasy teams. They were some point monsters last week.

I don't know about 3-5 years. Vick thrives on being able to elude defenders and his speed. Will he have that at the age of 35?

He did not get consistent time last year and was not in football shape....He is now.

He is a short term solution this year and can play another 3-4 years after this season (provided there is no lockout) with another team. He could develop as a QB like Randall Cunnigham after he lost his elusiveness.

He is getting older Rude. QB's that run realize that they will not be able to outrun defenders forever.
Sure it is just 2 games but Vick is completing 63.3% of his passes and he has a lot more talent at WR than he had in Atlanta. Vick will complete passes and let Jackson and Maclin use their speed to make yards after the catch.

Despite playing a long time in the League he has just 1800 pass attempts to his credit, Rude.

The only way any quarterback could take the Raiders to the Superbowl, and I don't care if it's Jason Campbell or Peyton Manning, is for said quarterback to get a bunch of tickets and a license to drive a bus. Oh, and a front-loader for Tom Cable and a hearse for you-know-who.
