If you dont think that champ is best, your crazy he covers the best WR's and most always shuts that whole side of the field down... he even shuts down RB's from going to that side!

This one is definatley debateable. I'm going to go with Asante Samuel here. Yes, Champ Bailey is a fantastic corner, but if I had to pick which one I would rather use to guard the best WR in the NFL, I'd take Asante

Asante is a pretty good cornerback but he doesnt defend well when RB's come to his side he cant tackle as well as champ at all i know champ has ugly tackles but they bring the best of the best runners down.....and asante samuels is thrown to much more than champ bailey cause people dont fear his ability to shutdown his side yet.... im not saying they never will cause they will..... i mean marvin harrison gets like an avg of like 10 yards a catch every season against champ he is lucky to get 5-7

Obviously its impossible to argue stats, because stats are facts, which cant be argued. However, Asante Samuel is a very dangerous cornerback. Also, even though he cant tackle as well as Champ, he is extremley good at breaking up passes and picking the ball off. He also has lots of speed and is able to cover just about any WR in the league man-to-man. Also Champ has an easier time getting in WR's way b/c he is 6ft tall wheras Samuel is only 5'10". Bailey also has 4 more years experience so his career stats should be much better.

who cares about height i mean yeah its a good thing to have but if your a good corner back your a good corner back no matter if you 7ft tall or 5'8 if you can intercept the ball and deflect the ball then your a great cornerback and you just proved my point, asante and champ are even when it comes to defending the pass but when it comes to the run champ stacks up better against it than samuels that what i think makes him the best CB in league b/c he can defend the pass and run very very well!

Height does matter at this position. Are you trying to say that its not harder for a shorter guy to defend the passing game then it is for a taller man? The taller you are the more advantage you have over a smaller corner in terms of deflecting, getting up in the air to get picks, etc. As far as the running game, Samuel isnt that bad. Plus, its hard to tell how good Asante is at defending a run attack because the Pats don't usually let the runner get by the linebackers. Champ has more chances to prove himself in that aspect because Denver's 'D' isnt as good at stopping the run.

Uh, why?

Champ allowed 9 catches all year last year, and 5 came against Manning.

So that's 4 in the remaining 15 games.

September 1, 2007  02:09 PM ET

And Asante isn't even the 2nd best CB in the NFL

September 1, 2007  02:12 PM ET

then who is the 2nd best....if i remember correctly Samuel had 10 INTs last year as did Champ Bailey

September 1, 2007  02:12 PM ET

samuel also played in one less game

September 1, 2007  02:13 PM ET

And Asante was thrown at TONS more.

The second best is McAlister.

INTs don't tell the whole story.

September 1, 2007  02:13 PM ET

INTs don't even come close to showing how good a CB is. Sanders never led the league (I think) but he was the best shutdown corner ever.

September 1, 2007  02:14 PM ET

chill out guys....he only said it was debatable

September 1, 2007  02:21 PM ET

He isn't the better than Bailey or Samuel, but Antoine Winfield is the best CB in the NFL that nobody knows about.

September 1, 2007  02:21 PM ET

vote to cjbosox cause jcut went for the easy win imo.

September 1, 2007  02:23 PM ET

I thought about using him Terp

September 1, 2007  02:26 PM ET

So CJBOSOX is emailing people telling them to vote for him because "This guy went for an easy win"

You can't cry that. You said it was debatable.

Hypocrite.

In all honesty YOU went for the easy win.

September 1, 2007  02:29 PM ET

ummm....no Bio....i havent mailed one person asking for a vote. I am completley against that. And how am I going for the easy win?

September 1, 2007  02:30 PM ET

and why are you sticking up for this guy sooooo much? Comments more or less are for you input.

September 1, 2007  02:33 PM ET

Because you take a throwdown that seems unwinable.

And then people "vote" for you because the other guy "went for the easy win"

In fact I see it the opposite way.

September 1, 2007  02:38 PM ET

Ok, here is the thing Bio. I have nothing against you, or my opponent. I took the throwdown because I like a good challenge. I wouldn't say this throwdown is unwinable for either side. Also, most people dont vote for me because someone thinks the other guy was goin for an easy win. Most people vote for me for one of two reasons: Either A: They are Patriot fans or what not and do believe that Asante is a better Corner. or B: Because I am well known on this site and I have a respectable Throwdown record whereas JCut is 0-0-0. Thats not how I vote, but that is how some people do vote. So don't accuse me of going for an easy win.

September 1, 2007  02:45 PM ET

this is not debatable bailey is without a doubt the best CB in football

September 1, 2007  02:47 PM ET

woooooo.....almost anything is debateable

September 1, 2007  02:56 PM ET

This isn't debatable when you see the little things.

September 1, 2007  02:57 PM ET

and no, going against something that's for sure IS going for an easy win because most people think "ZOMG throwdown maker is going for an easy win, let's vote for the dude challenging him for pity"

September 1, 2007  03:19 PM ET

actually i don't even know cjbosox and he never fanmailed me.
