"What does Romo do better from a skill standpoint? He avoids trouble better, improvises better, and throws down field better. Your 'wins and losses' garbage is just homer nonsense."

So, you believe that Tony Romo has a better skill set than Tom Brady and you've used those items above to make the argument. Let's just see about that.
For the comparisons below, I used the last 4 full seasons Brady played compared to the 4 full seasons that Romo has been a starter. I did this because Brady did miss an entire season.
Avoids trouble better. How do you measure that?
Sacks.
Romo Sacked 100 times in the last 4 seasons.
Brady sacked 89 times in the last 4 seasons.
Oh, Brady's Sk% in 2009 was 2.8 and Romo was 5.8.
Improvises better.
Romo has 55 int's in that 4 year period.
Brady has 47 int's in that same time span.
Let's look at QB rating.
Brady's rating the last 4 full seasons. 98.4
Romo's rating the last 4 full seasons. 95.7 and on top of that, he's never had a season where his rating was 98.4, which was Brady's average.

By watching them
Sacks.
Um...huh?
Romo Sacked 100 times in the last 4 seasons.
You blame a QB for sacks most of the time? Really?
Romo avoids trouble and still makes something happen better than ANYONE other than maybe Favre.
[i]Improvises better.
Romo has 55 int's in that 4 year period.
Brady has 47 int's in that same time span.
What the hell do INT's have to do with improvising better?
Why are we looking at the last 4 years, again? Oh, because that includes Brady's CAREER year, that's right.
How about we look at career PR? Or passer rating to age 29? That wouldn't fly because Romo DESTROYS Brady so you have to come up with some ridiculous arbitrary measure.
Career Passer Rating
Romo - 95.5
Brady - 93.8
Up until Romo's age, Brady never had a SEASON above 92.6.
Last 4 years?
Brady's PR the last 4 years was 87.9, 117.2, 83.9, and 96.2. Think the average is just a TAD skewed by that career year?
Romo's WORST year? 91.4. A number Brady has only reached 4 time in his entire career. You don't want to argue passer rating. Brady can't compete in that area.
Schad - Notorious Deadbeat said 10/09, 06:31 AM
I love the "you don't want to argue passer rating" comment. Really? I used the last 4 years because that was the time that Romo has been a starter. You want to use the whole career because 10 years ago, everyone had a lower rating because it was a different game.
For example, in 2001, that "low" rating Brady was 6th in the league. Have you ever looked at Bart Starr's rating? He sucked. His career rating was 80.5!
I like how you use the 83.9 rating as well in 2008, even though he only played less than 1 game. That's just flat out pathetic on your part.
Hey, if you are going to use the year Brady was hurt in the first game, I'll use this year:
Brady: 109.0
Romo: 93.9
Oops.
Romo avoids trouble and still makes something happen better than ANYONE other than maybe Favre.
Comparing Romo to a guy who has ended teams seasons with int's trying to improvise. Nice. Anyway, you have no way to measure that and is just a random opinion, not any sort of fact as you declared it.
One more thing. You declared "wins and losses" as nonsense. Really? Brady was the fastest to 100 wins, but that doesn't matter. Brady is 14-4 in the playoffs. Doesn't matter, right?
Schad - Notorious Deadbeat said 10/10, 05:48 PM
Well, I was going to post a counter to whatever argument right decided to put up.
I got nothing. Literally, I got nothing from him.
Continuing on...
As right stated during the thread I noted above in post #163
"His 86.5 in '01, the first Super Bowl year, would have put him 15th last year, 1/10th of a point better than Jason Campbell."
Yes, he actually compared Tom Brady to Jason Campbell. Using numbers from 2001 to compare to 2010. Brady's rating in 2001 was 6th, but of course, he didn't note that.
A few other points about Romo. He did vacation in Mexico with J.S. before a playoff game. That shows me his "dedication" to the game. He is sincerely lacking in that "skill". He felt a vacation was more important than getting ready for a playoff game.
Also, I was told that "wins and losses was nonsense". I guess the most important thing for quarterbacks according to right is fantasy league stats and not actually winning a game. I'll take winning games over that.
Simply put, if you had a game to win, who would you rather have at quarterback with all things being equal, Brady or Romo.
I'll take Brady, 10 times out of 10.

One quick note, I know what was listed above was an opinion, but he states these things as facts, which prompted this.

Romo is the best QB Dallas has seen since Troy Aikman. He had a great season in '09. That does not warrant comparisons to Tom Brady.

Nice argument Schadenfreuden. The one thing I'm not clear on is what an SK percentage is. But I'm a Bucs fan so you can't expect much from me. Is that the percentage of times they were sacked per snap?

Not even close to Brady...particularly when one takes into account post-season play.

sack percentage, the lower the better. Basically, how many plays out of 100 that he'll get sacked on.

No other quarterback in the history of the game has had the unique ability to look exactly like a talentless teen pop star.

Oh, but on another note. That Brady is a damn good QB. I'll even admit that as a Jets fan. He didn't always have the old standbys in guys like Welker and (until this week) Moss. He just knows how to pick apart a defense and he makes smart decisions, which allows him to keep his mistakes to a minimum. If I didn't hate him, I'd say "I'll take Brady over Romo on my team any day of the week."

Don't forget that Romo has yet to prove that he is the leader of his team. He can throw the ball as good as Brady can, but he is not even close to Brady or Peyton when it comes to the leadership roles, that are as important as playing ability in my opinion. How is Romo's golf game?
