1. Bama will bounce back. Saban+a top level (albeit young) defense +2 stud RBs = winning out

2. This is not a down year for the SEC. Its a down year for most leagues.

3. Boise/TCU dont deserve a spot in the champ game over an undefeated sec/big12/pac10 team. Sorry, until you play a real schedule we will have this discussion every year
(ya think Boise could have beaten Arkansas/Florida/SouthCarolina/Penn State/LSU/Auburn?)

4. The NFL shouldnt suspend players NOT CONVICTED of a crime.
Instead of fussingabout Favre flirting maybe do something about the players who have 5 kids w/ 5 different women! That is a bigger problem.

5. Randy Moss is a jerk. Nothing new. Teams shouldnt risk so much for idiots like him and TO...they will be gone before you can build anything around them.

6. NCAA should allow an untouched player who falls to get up and run. No reason to have this rul.

7. NFL should adopt the ncaa overtime rules. more fun AND its more fair

8. nfl needs to keep its 16 game schedule & playoff format

9. ncaa needs an 8 team playoff

10. ncaa should allow player names to be used on games

"1. Bama will bounce back. Saban+a top level (albeit young) defense +2 stud RBs = winning out."

They still have a tough road ahead.

Against better teams in LSU and Auburn.

The Vols are no slouch team either. That will not be an easy game at all when they visit Tennessee. LSU found that out.

1-I know you make some interesting TD's. Remind me of PCH at times.

2-This is a "down year" for the SEC when the Gators already have 2 losses and might be looking at 4 this season. *Florida State and South Carolina loom on the schedule*

3-Boise State has proven they are a national contender and if they win out? They deserve to play for the title.

4-They have to treat these allegations seriously. It puts a bad spin on the League if they let guys act as if the locker room is a frat house. Especially if you have children who look up to these players and see what is going on.

5-Yes.

6-Yes.

7-No. The NCAA should adopt the NFL rules to avoid triple OT's. They are already in FG range.

8-Yes.

9-16 team format like I-AA. That has worked out just fine for them. And it gives smaller schools chance to make it to the postseason.

10-Huh?

1. LSU barely beat UF. Bama blew UF out. Not that that always matters, but its a close comparison. And UF wanted payback for the last sec championship game.

2.this is a down year for MANY league/teams
Texas...USC...V-Tech.... not just the SEC

3. how did they prove it? Playing 2 ranked teams?
How can Boise get a shot over a 1 loss SEC or Big 12 team that might play 6 RANKED teams in year?

4. it isnt Roger Goodell's job to parent my kids...that is my job
and it isnt the NFL's place to circumvent the constitution
Favre and Big Ben should get DUE PROCESS. You shouldnt be benched off of an alligation

and if the NFL/NBA really wants to get serious about conduct how about doing something about guys who knock up 4 different women before they are 23 years old?

5. i would rather see an NCAA style triple OT than watch someone win the toss, drive 30 yards, and kick a FG

6. 16 team playoff is WAY too long. They'll be playing well into february!
8 teams is PLENTY. that is just 3 weeks long
plus it makes sure you allow a Boise state in......

"1. LSU barely beat UF. Bama blew UF out."

Florida did not match up well with Bama. I think LSU matches up well with Bama. Not to mention the Tigers are a better team than the one that just beat Bama.

"3. how did they prove it? Playing 2 ranked teams?"

Beating 2 ranked teams.

And they have a 3rd on schedule in Nevada.

That is a tougher schedule than the year they beat OU in the Fiesta Bowl. Get over it, this team is a legit contender and very likely participant in the National title game.

"4. it isnt Roger Goodell's job to parent my kids...that is my job"

When did I say it was his job to parent your kids? I simply said it does not look good and regardless how well your parenting skills are, kids will still look up to a particular athlete.

"6. 16 team playoff is WAY too long. They'll be playing well into february!"

The college season is usually over by late November/early December with all the Division championships and Bowl games do not usually start until late mid to December.

Start it first week in January and the maximum number of games is 4! Over by the end of January.

1. if bama can handle ryan mallet...they can handle the mess that is the LSU qb situation.
Les Miles sucks as a coach...only won bc he had so much of Saban's talent.

2. yep. Boise beat vtech and o-state
now wanna compare that to bama's schedule?

how many losses would boise have if they played bama's schedule? EXACTLY!

3. Roger Goodell shouldnt be judge and jury when it comes to someone NOT EVEN CHARGED WITH A CRIME!!!!

i can see if favre were charged. THE GIRL ISNT EVEN PRESSING CHARGES! IT HASNT BEEN PROVED ANYTHING HAPPENED

4. if you have the top 16 teams get into a playoff you REALLY hurt the value of the college fb regular season

my god you could have someone with 4 losses get in!

keep it to an 8 team playoff
-it only adds 3 games vs 4.

keep it to the top 8. that way you make every game important in the regular season.
yeah, wth the top 8 you might have a 2 loss team slip in ...but mostly you will have undefeated and 1 loss teams in your playoff

good td

"1. if bama can handle ryan mallet...they can handle the mess that is the LSU qb situation."

The Tigers defense is better than the Razorbacks. And they also run the ball a lot better than the Razorbacks. No easy game, Bear.

Do not be surprised if its a close game or....GASP, the Tigers pull the upset.

"2. yep. Boise beat vtech and o-state
now wanna compare that to bama's schedule?"

This is not an argument on how would they do if they played in the freaking SEC. It is wether or not they would deserve to be in the title game if they win out. After having faced 3 ranked teams.

Yes, they should.

"3. Roger Goodell shouldnt be judge and jury when it comes to someone NOT EVEN CHARGED WITH A CRIME!!!!"

The lesson is do not put yourself in a position to draw attention to the League.

In Ben's case it was a HISTORY of it.

"4. if you have the top 16 teams get into a playoff you REALLY hurt the value of the college fb regular season."

Not at all.

Upsets can happen and it would make it more exciting. Kind of like March Madness when a low seed beats a high seed.

4. The NFL shouldn't suspend players NOT CONVICTED of a crime.

What company do you work for? The NFL is a private company and has every right to enforce company rules. If you work for the NFL, you must abide by those rules or risk being fined, suspended or fired just like every privately owned company in the country. In all actuality, these guys are getting a break. Most companies wouldn't suspend an employee for some of the things these guys are guilty of, they would be out right fired.

I work at a major University in the Southeast. If I were to hit on one of the female students or sexually harass a female staff member...are you telling me that so long as I wasn't convicted of a crime, I should not be fired??

There is a flaw in your logic.

If you commit a CRIME and are ARRESTED and CHARGED with something then yes...your boss should be allowed to suspend you or whatever before a trial. That is their right.

but they WERE NOT CHARGED.

in fact, the girl in the favre issue NEVER FILED A COMPLAINT.
it was some hack website looking for 15 minutes of fame.

so no. I dont think an NFL player should be suspended unless he is CHARGED with a crime.

1. South Carolina earned the right to be ranked above Alabama. It is absurd that they are not.

2. The SEC will not produce a single undefeated team.

3. Missouri is the best team not in the top 10.

4. A darkhorse will emerge as the Big 12 champion.

5. In order, the top 3 darkhorses in the Big 12 are Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M.

6. Michigan State is more likely than Ohio State to finish the season undefeated.

7. The best record Michigan can hope for is 7-5. If they get there, they should feel fortunate.

8. Oregon will not win the Pac-10.

9. North Carolina State will get a rematch with Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game.

10. Boise State will play for the 2010 BCS National Championship.

October 12, 2010  05:13 AM ET

I agree that this is not a down year for the SEC. In fact, I believe the SEC is stronger this season than it has been in the past 4 seasons in which they produced the eventual national champion.

South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, and LSU are all still in contention for the national championship. Florida can play with anyone in the country (except for Alabama obviously). The SEC will not produce the national champion for a 5th year in a row. However, it is not due to a down year; it is due to the fact that those 6 teams are going to beat each other up.

You have no idea what you are talking about. None. Ever wonder why so many harassment cases aren't brought forward?

Intimidation. If a female were to dare bring charges, she would be fired, then blacklisted in her industry. It is completely wrong, but that's the way it is.

Also, you don't seem to have a basic understanding on how law works either. Here's a quick little refresher. There is a huge difference between a crime being committed and a case that a district attorney can bring forward and win. Don't kid yourself, the only reason that Ben Rothlesburger wasn't charged was because the DA didn't think he had a case he could win.

So, according to you, any woman who brings up a case is looking for 15 minutes of fame.

Then again, in your world, OJ would have nothing to worry about either.

Hey, I never did see you respond to my challenge about your lame NHL comments either.

October 12, 2010  07:55 AM ET

10. the ncaa should allow players names to be used on games.

Maybe it's not the ncaa doing that, maybe it's the companies doing that so they don't have to pay royalties to the player? And your # 3 comment, if BSU & TCU are the only undefeated teams left at the end of the season shouldn't they get to play in the title game? After all, they are FBS teams...right? Although h*ll would freeze over before that ever happens!

October 12, 2010  09:04 AM ET

How can Boise get a shot over a 1 loss SEC or Big 12 team that might play 6 RANKED teams in year?

As far as I know, 2-0 is a higher percentage than 5-1...

What flaw? You are defending your open ended statement with a single incident.

You can be suspended or fired from your job for any number of reasons that do not have anything at all to do with breaking the law. Improper relationships with other employees may well be against a company's policies. When you take a job, you generally sign an agreement to abide by their policies, if you don't you are subject to discipline or termination. (does this phrase sound familiar?) If Favre's actions were in direct conflict with NFL or team policy then he is subject to discipline is he not? What difference does it make how his indescretions came to light?
Such attitudes are part of the problem these days. Don't hold me reponsible for my own actions and there is always someone else to blame. Here is an idea, if you don't break the rules, you can't be ratted out!

October 12, 2010  09:07 AM ET

16 team playoff is WAY too long. They'll be playing well into february!

If you played the first week on January first(when else?), then the quarter finals the saturday of the week following( worst case scenario would be Jan. 1 on a sunday, which would push the quarters to the 14th, assuming you allow for a full week of preparation), you'd still play the championship game Jan. 28 at the latest. That's not "well into february"

"Favre and Big Ben should get DUE PROCESS. You shouldnt be benched off of an alligation"

Dude, due process has NOTHING to do with a persons relationship with an employer. It is a legal term. Big Ben was given due process, that's why his @.$.$. isn't in jail right now. Favre isn't being accused of a crime so he doesn't require due process. A business has the right, and in this instance, the responsibility to investigate an employee that may have acted outside of their policies, especially when the infraction may have put another employee in a bad position and open the company up to possible civil action should they fail to act.

I believe Auburn or LSU could go undefeated. Yes, I know they will play eachother so it has to be one. I honestly believe Auburn could sqeak by LSU and possibly Bama. Its not farfetched, its the SEC.

October 12, 2010  11:04 AM ET

The problem with the SEC is that they spend all year beating up on each other and ruining each others' bid for the National Championship. With that said, i don't think the SEC deserves special consideration in the rankings just because they play in the hardest division. If Boise goes undefeated and dominates all year, they deserve to be ranked in the top just like anyone from the SEC. Holding them back solely on schedule strength is a shame. You'll never know how those type of teams will do in the Championship unless you let them play in it at least once.

the BCS championship game should be against the best 2 teams

boise plays a CUPCAKE schedule.

what do you think their record would be in the SEC?
what happened to hawaii with their high passing offense when they played georgia a couple years ago in the sugar bowl?

Boise would get the blue knocked off their helmets if they played bama's schedule.

I see at LEAST 2-3 losses a year if Boise were in the SEC

October 12, 2010  12:26 PM ET

Always fun, Bear.

1} Favres career may be dying but its not dead yet. The Vikings are still alive to grab a playoff spot this year.

2} Denard Robinson is inhuman.

3} Boise State owns victories over the number 2 and 4 ranked teams in the latest AP poll in the last calendar year.

4} I dont know how the Rams will finish this year but Sam Bradford is as legit as they come.

5} Josh Freeman is becoming a good quarterback right in front of our eyes. With the Saints falling asleep at the wheel, TB can sneak into the playoffs.

6} The SEC is overrated. Period, end of story.

7} Something tells me I dont think Dallas will have home field advantage in the super bowl...but at least they can get premium seating to the big game!

8} San Diego may be the dissapointing team of the year considering that LT looks amazing for the Jets.

9} A good excuse is not an adequate substitute for results.

10} The freakin Cardinals knocked me out of my knockout pool this weekend...goddam Saints!
