Alright. There are some details that need to be addressed. One: current players ONLY. Two: team must consist of 5 starters and a 6th man (he doesn't have to be a sixth man in real life). Three: this is a TEAM. Chemistry matters. Don't put 6 guys who all average over 25 points a game (unless, of course, you think they will mesh together well).

PG- Steve Nash. Really no question here. He makes all the players around him better and can really see the floor well.

SG- Kobe Bryant. Great scorer...but can pass as we all saw in the FIBA Championships. When good players are put around him he is a great passer and team player.

SF- Shawn Marion. Perfect guy to put here. He's a great double-double guy. He averaged 17 points a game and 10 rebounds a game last year.

PF- Tim Duncan- Fundamentall sound big guy who is a great team player. His numbers are pretty solid and he's also one of the best power forwards of all time.

C- Dwight Howard. He's a complete beast on the boards. Last year he averaged almost as many rebounds a game as he did points (15.3 ppg, 14.8 rpg).

6th- Mike Miller. He would complete this team because of his shooting. Every great team needs a great shooter.

Only the ones I disagree with:

PG - Chris Paul. He is young, fast, and can dish. Surround him with talent and he could be a great one. Nash is getting ooooold.

SF - Lebron James. He is a scorer and a disher. Nash and King James would give everyone nightmares.

6th - Ben Gordon. He can shoot, play D, and is just plain made for the role. And he has been a 6th man before, so he would welcome the role of sparkplug.

Nash is getting old? What did he do last year? Runner-up for MVP. That suggests that he's getting old? He's actually gotten better as he's gotten older.

In a NBA General Manager Survey before last season, 96.4% of GMs picked Nash as the best point guard in the League.

What you said about LeBron made no sense. "Nash and Kind James would give everyone nighmares." You said Paul was your point guard.

Let's compare the stats of Gordon and Miller.
Points= Gordon is slightly better with 3 more points per game.
Rebounds= Miller out-rebounds Gordon by almost 2 rebounds every game.
Assists= Although Miller is a SF and Gordon is a SG Miller still has one assist more a game.
Free Throw and 3-Point %s= Gordon has Miller in both of these.
Blocks and Minutes Per Game= Miller has Gordon is both of these including averaging over 6 more minutes a game.

Gordon also has problems with turning the ball over. He averages almost three turnovers a game and 3 and a half in the playoffs. Miller only averaged 2 and a half turnovers per game.

I corrected myself down at the bottom about the Nash/ James mistake, soooo yeah. Read. You chose Mike Miller as 6th man. Over Gordon, a 6th man of the year award winner and say he has a turnover problem??? Their to pg is almost identical. And Gordon handled the ball A LOT more than Miller did. Miller is a real beast, his team was THE WORST IN THE NBA. The role of a 6th man is a sparkplug, and Gordon is that, as well as a better defender and shooter. Bad argument, bad choice. And seriously, my team would kill your team. I mean Lebron James had more ppg, spg, apg, higher 3pt%, ft%, mpg, and he is Lebron friggin James. He carried his team of bums to the finals(further than Nash and Marion could get).

Paul is underrated. He has no true scorers on his team and no true centers, yet he drops 8 dimes a game and shoots almost 50%. He is a stud, and with this core of scorers, he would be great. Now, Nash is sick, don't get me wrong. I didn't think this was a one game lineup. If going on a team for the full season, I take Paul. Nash has shown multiple years that he can wear down. Paul is younger, and has more stamina for the longhaul.

I corrected myself down at the bottom about pointing out your mistake, so yeah. Read.

Ben Gordon won the 6th Man of the Year Award in 2005. Mike Miller won the award in 2006. His was more recent. The Bulls' PG is irrelevant to this discussion.

If Paul was such a great player he'd be able to make the people around him better than what they are. Nash can do that. He's done that in the past.

Where did I say that this was for the entire season? Nash is still a better player than Paul. He has excellent stamina. It's that he works so hard that he wears himself down.

Marion averages more rebounds, steals, and blocks per game. He also has a better field goal percentage (52% to 47%) and a lot better free throw percentage (81% to 69%). The reason LeBron scores more is simply because he shoots more. So you are INCORRECT in stating that LeBron averages more steals per game and that he has a higher free throw percentage.

Miller is completely underrated. He is one of the best, if not the best, shooter in the league. His efficiency rating is actually higher than Ben Gordon's. You even said it yourself, Miller is a real beast AND he plays in a tougher conference than Gordon.

First off sorry for the delay. Second, I can't believe you just said Miller is the best shooter in the league. You should forfiet for saying that. Third, I said Miller was a beast in jest. His team was the worst in the league last year. Fourth, Nash is great, I know, but Paul is younger with more speed and is probably 1279 times better at defense. And my calculated efficiency rating for Gordon had his team win 40 more games than Memphis. Miller is not underrated. He plays for team USA dummy.

mike miller?

September 7, 2007  07:01 PM ET

michael redd over him if your looking for a shooter????

September 7, 2007  07:02 PM ET

Yes. Mike Miller.

September 7, 2007  07:03 PM ET

Miller is completely underrated. Most of that is because he plays in a terrible market right now: Memphis.

September 7, 2007  07:06 PM ET

i wouldve went w/ barbosa

September 7, 2007  07:09 PM ET

mr sombrio sucks GOAT all the way. Mike Miller is on the Fiba team, he is underrated and he is clutch as well. He can deliver when he needs to. He is humble and will play His Role that he is asked too

September 7, 2007  07:11 PM ET

jason kidd is by far more productive than nash...kidd gets his stats even with carter having the ball the whole game...plus nash only became great when he went to the suns who have a team full of shooters that make it real easy for him to get assits when his teammates and constant make deep jumpers...kidd's assists come when he feeds a guy to the hole not when he gets caught under the basket and frantically passes to a teammate who happens to make a three

September 7, 2007  07:12 PM ET

kobe had shaq a great player...wow i guess he was a model teammate then... when he had payton and malone...he chased out shaq and payton he is not a good teammate at all

September 7, 2007  07:16 PM ET

joedawg, you are completely right.

LO603, Nash made the players better. Would you have heard of Leandro Barbosa? Boris Diaw? Raja Bell? No, no, and no. He made them the players they are today. Kidd's team isn't too shabby either. Carter, Jefferson, Kristic. They are all pretty good players.

Also, were you even watching the FIBA Americas? Did you see how great of a team player Kobe was? Evidently not.

And how can you vote for the other guy when he hasn't even made his argument? That makes no sense. What if he comes out with a team far worse than mine? What happens then?

September 7, 2007  08:53 PM ET

FIBA doesn't mean anything? What?

You may have heard of them, but were they any good? Did you dream they would be winning Most Improved and 6th Man of the Year awards?

I am sick and tired of arguing that Steve Nash makes the players around him better. There really isn't a way to prove it either way.

September 7, 2007  10:54 PM ET

i meant kobe and king james in my argument. sorry.

September 7, 2007  11:37 PM ET

vote to G.O.A.T.

September 8, 2007  11:04 AM ET

goat are you gonna go or what?

September 8, 2007  11:38 AM ET

Anyone else notice that GOAT quoted Howard's playoff averages?

He's a sound choice but check your stats.

September 8, 2007  11:43 AM ET

So I either have to take Chris Paul over Steve Nash or Shawn Marion over Lebron James.

I don't think I'll vote at all.

September 8, 2007  03:48 PM ET

Sorry, madmax, I don't sit around on the computer all day. I actually had to go to work.

Also, I didn't realize the Paul and King James thing in the comments until after I did my argument.

Jay, you might want to vote eventually. I'll be coming out with some Marion stuff in my next argument.

September 8, 2007  04:22 PM ET

vote goat

September 9, 2007  04:51 PM ET

Nash over Paul any day!!!

Marion Lebron debate is a tuff one.....

but with Lebron and Nash on the same team...who would take the shot?

September 11, 2007  06:58 PM ET

Max, are you going to finish our throwdown?

September 15, 2007  12:04 AM ET
