SEC is overrated, yes, you saw that right, they are.

You have been going on and on about how great the SEC is, how all football in college begins and ends with them.

You'll make rankings and always have the caveat of "Well, they'd lose to SEC teams", or "SEC is the best conference", or other such nonsense.

TD's about how great the teams are versus other teams in other conferences.

Now, it's, "well, the last few National Champions" are from the SEC. That's a pretty far drop. From, "we are the best" top to bottom to that.

Now, to how they are overrated.

Let's look at the bowls this year.

SC loses to FSU. Yeah, the same SC team that beat Alabama.
UNC beats Tenn. UNC is better, flat out.
UCF beats Georgia. What? UCF?

Money spent by schools:

Top 10:

1. Ohio State, $31,763,036
2. Alabama, $31,118,134
3. Notre Dame, $29,490,788

#2,4,5,6,7,9 all SEC.

They spend the most, it isn't a level playing field and still, the SEC is losing. Usually, if you spend the most, you get the best players. They outspend everyone. 6 of top 9 spenders.

if i exaggerate the power of the SEC you go the opposite direction and make ut sound like the WAC

so lets quit the bullcrap & just deal with FACTS

FACT: The SEC has won the last 4 championships
FACT: SEC teams have spent more time ranked #1 the last 5 years than ANY OTHER CONFERENCE
FACT: most weeks the last 4 years the SEC has had more teams in the top 25 than any other conference or been tied for first


FACT: jacksonville state beat ole miss
and appalachin state beat michigan
and james madison beat V-tech
(arent Mich & V-Tech more respected in their conf. than Ole Miss is to the SEC?)


FACT: you listed money spent by SEC football teams
so what? that has NOTHING to do with wins
the SEC is football country. boosters/alums donate money to these programs.
is Duke overrated bc their alumni donate more money to their basketball programs?


so here's the bottom line:
on any given Saturday, ANYONE can lose...but the SEC seems to find a LOT of teams in the top 25 EVERY YEAR

yes, this was a "down" year....but that doesnt prove YOUR view

I guess you have officially backpedaled from all of your statements that the only reason other teams did well is because they don't play in the SEC, right?

You remember all of those, right?

So, exactly what does Jacksonville State have to do with this? You throw them out like it matters. Same with Appalachian State, what does a game a few years ago have to do with anything this year? That Michigan game was over 3 years ago. Proves nothing.

Fact. Auburn shouldn't even be playing in the National Championship game because of "Pimp Daddy" Newton.

Fact. The out of conference games the SEC teams play is pathetic. Did you see who Auburn played? Chattanooga state, Louisiana Monroe, and Arkansas State. Wow, some real toughies there.

Fact. The money listed does not take into account the obvious payouts the SEC teams make for players. See Newton, Cam. Plus, I don't care who gives the money, the fact is they spend more money than anyone else.

Fact. Boise State only spent 6.85 million. They are a bargain, but they haven't been busted for what Auburn was busted for.

you also IMPLY that programs that spend the money you listed (money that is ACCOUNTED FOR) must also be paying players
but wouldnt it make MORE sense that smaller programs have an EASIER way to pay players since they dont have as big a spotlight on them?

which conf has had the most weeks with a team ranked #1 the last 4 years?

which conf had had the last 4 CHAMPIONSHIPS

which conf has had the most teams ranked top 25 last 4 years?

Oh, I know the OSU was another poorly veiled attempt at a "hater" comment.

So now, smaller programs have an easier time paying off players. What the hell kind of logic is that? Have any evidence that smaller schools are paying off players? No, I didn't think so either.

Oh, I clearly mentioned what happens on the field, didn't you notice the SEC losses in bowl games in my first argument? Did you miss that? Is reading that tough for you?

You keep playing the "ranked" card like it means something. If you are ranked in the pre-season, you don't have to fight to get into the rankings. You see, it's a totally flawed system. Plus, when you are spending the most, there is an illusion that you are better, when it may not even be true.


1. if you are going to throw out rankings...what measuing stick will you use?

lets go with END OF YEAR RANKINGS
after 12 games + conf championships + bowls you have to admit the last rankings should matter

and the SEC is always #1-2 in terms of most teams ranked

Fans have switched their argument from "we're the best top to bottom" to "we've won the last 4 BCS NCGs." This move is a step down in your opinion, but why is that? No other conference has ever won four straight NCs in the poll era.
"Money spent guarantees dominance at the schools." As long as Notre Dame is #3, I would not make this argument.

I've got 2 more args, I'm just setting some groundwork. Plus, the person in question has made some outlandish claims I wanted to get in early.

Plus, it's really hard to overlook that 6 of the top 9 spenders for football are all in 1 conference.

Talking economics... Those millions spent in Alabama, South Carol. and Arkansas go a lot further than the same money spent in many other states, like Calif. Oregon, Maryland or Mass.
