CAm Newton will be the next Vince Young

you heard it here first..

no crazy drama like VY.. but as far as player..

they have a LOT in common


Cam Newton will be a better pro player than Young for a few reasons.

#1) Newton is a much more polished passer.

Newton has much better accuracy than Young ever did. Young often missed receivers with arid throws. Newton shows better accuracy. He also is much better in the pocket. Young tended to scramble from the pocket too soon. Newton has the willingness to sit in the pocket longer to look downfield. That is something that will help him at the next level and something that hurt Vince Young.

According to Rob Rang, a senior respected NFL scout:

"Newton is a more polished passer and has been more consistent than Young was"

Which leads me to my 2nd point...

2) Consistency

Young would have games in which he would be sub-par. Get in his head and he was a wreck. Newton was strong all year with few mental mistakes. He wasn't shaken off his game easily. Leading a few huge late game comebacks

3) Leadership

There's no denying NFL QB's need to be leaders. VY is not one. He has multiple run ins with the law and is self centered. Newton has shown much more leadership abilities. And im sure the haters will say scam newton, but that was his dad, not him.

Stats?

Vince Young stuggled against the best teams. Threw 2 picks at Ohio State. Zero TD's against USC.

Sure, he dominated Kansas and UL Lafayette. Congrats, but you need to perform against the best teams. Young didn't do that. Newton does.

AT Alabama- 3 TD's, 0 INT's, 220 yards
South Carolina (SEC champ)- 4 TD's, 0 INT's, 73 rush yards, 2 TD's

There, against the 2 best teams on his schedule, Newton came up huge for his team.

Pocket Passer

Young broke out of the pocket to run way to early. Newton has the pocket presence to stay in the pocket and look downfield. He is willing to make plays through the air. If he doesn't have a play, then he will take it down and run, shown by his 1537 rush yards and 20 TD's.

Young made bad decisions in the pocket. He threw more picks.

And since you wanted stats peach,

Newton threw for more TD's, yards, better completion %, fewer picks.

I'm hoping the Pats win but don't cover the spread. I have the Jets in a super bowl pool (which is the 1 team i didn't want), but if they beat the spread i win the Patriots.
