T. Suggs' comments about Brady were wrong.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Terrell-Suggs-Tom-Brady-s -three-Super-Bowl-ring?urn=nfl-307256

1. picking a couple questionable calls dont taint Brady's rings

Tom Brady has been #1 or #2 QB in the league for the last few years. He has EARNED those rings...mostly on teams that didnt give him the greatest run game to help out

2. BIG BEN is a very very good QB....but lets not pretend Big Ben's career record has been the product of his arm and nothing else.
Pitt usually has a strong run game and one of the nfl's best defenses backing him up

I get it...Suggs is trying to talk trash, grab some headlines, and help his QB get some good press.

but the fact remains .....His comments were wrong

Big Ben has 1 pro bowl..he's never led the league in pass rating, TDs, completions,

Brady has over 100 more TDs, a lower INT%, over 10,000 +yds,

Suggs' intent in the interview was clear: Build up Big Ben by tearing down Brady

fyi Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer also have SB rings...are they better than Marino?

We are protected by something called the First Amendment. It protects Freedom of Speech. No matter how heinous it is.

*Even an organization like the **** has the right to Freedom of Speech, as much as I hate to say that*

And I read what he said.

Did he say anything so awful? No, he gave his OPINION. We all have one. You are well known on here for your SEC homerism/opinion.

"I get it...Suggs is trying to talk trash, grab some headlines, and help his QB get some good press."

Suggs? He plays for the Ravens. Big Ben plays for the Steelers.

Not his QB....

"Big Ben has 1 pro bowl..he's never led the league in pass rating, TDs, completions"

Big Ben's 72-30 regular season record is nothing to sneeze at. He has been very impressive, especially when you consider where he came from.

"Brady has over 100 more TDs, a lower INT%, over 10,000 +yds"

Brady has played in 11 seasons.

Big Ben? Just finished playing in his 7th season.

"fyi Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer also have SB rings...are they better than Marino?"

Big Ben has multiple SB's. Johnson and Dilfer each have just one.

1. dont even try to turn this into a 1st amendment issue
nobody even SUGGESTED he shouldnt be allowed to say his opinion

i said he was W_R_O_N_G

yes, you are free to be WRONG in america

2. yes, i know ben QBs for pitt...not sugg's team
i meant to say he was getting some good press for "his qb" in that it was "his boy he was trying to promote over brady"

3. you are oversimplifying suggs' comments
HE IS BASICALLY SAYING BIG BEN DESERVES TO BE MENTIONED WITH BRADY AND MANNING

now....by taking this TD you are saying that is true

you are saying big ben should be RIGHT THERE with brady and manning

big ben is good....but he doesnt deserve brady/manning status.

"i said he was W_R_O_N_G

yes, you are free to be WRONG in america"

Many would say you are WRONG about your blatant SEC homerism. But you know what? Nobody can really knock you for voicing your opinion because of the First Amendment. It might get old (since it seems like over 50% of your TD's are about it) but it is your right to voice your feelings and opinion.

He does deserve to be mentioned among the best.

I went easy on the stats in the opener but here we go:

Brady, 63.6%, 239ypg, 7.4ypa, 261 TD's to 103 INT's with a 95.2 Passer Rating

Manning, 64.9%, 263ypg, 7.6ypa, 399 TD's to 198 INT's with a 94.9 Passer Rating

Ben, 63.1%, 227ypg, 8.0ypa, 144 TD's to 86 INT's with a 92.5 Passer Rating

Ben deserves to be listed among the best in the game. He does not throw as much as Brady or Manning but his ypg are right there with Brady.

His ypa is better than both QB's and he is an underrated scrambler. 3.3ypc is not that impressive but it is much better than both QB's. And he comes up big with runs to keep drives alive.

Big Ben is 8-2 in the playoffs (80%).

Brady is 14-4 (77.7%) and Peyton is 9-10 (47.3%)

again...this isnt a 1st amendment issue. nobody says he isnt free to say what he wants
im just saying the FACTS dont support his theory.

now..lets deal with FACTS......Brady & Manning & Brees are the TOP 3 qbs in the nfl

Big Ben is in the top of the 2nd tier.....but he does NOT deserve to be in the top 3

PRO BOWLS
Ben-1
Mann-11
Brady-6
(and ben has never been all-pro....the others have)

TOUCHDOWNS
only TWICE has Big Ben tossed more than 20td passes
Manning has NEVER thrown less than 25. NEVER ONCE!
Brady has only thrown fewer than 20 twice: his 1st full season as a starter & the year he got hurt

YARDS
Ben has 1 season w/ 4000+ yds passing
Manning & Brady have numerous

STATS
Manning & Brady have higher comp %
also higher % of their passes for TDs
also lower INT %

Marino never won a super bowl....does that mean dan the man isnt as good as big ben???

"Big Ben is in the top of the 2nd tier.....but he does NOT deserve to be in the top 3"

Did I say he was Top 3? I did not think so.

Only 3 Elite QB's out of 32? I think Top 5 is a better classification of Elite QB's and Ben is definitely Top 5.

Second Tier is 6-10 and the third Tier is 11-15.

"PRO BOWLS
Ben-1
Mann-11
Brady-6"

Ben plays in the AFC where Brady and Manning are much more popular. And being a Pro Bowler? We all know it is a popularity contest and Ben cannot compete with those other 2 QB's.

I do not think that matters ultimately in the big scheme of things.

You have to look at a QB and the era he played in. And Ben has gone from being a game manager his first few years to a QB that can win the game for his team.

Big Ben in the playoffs?

61.8%, 223.9ypg, 8.1ypa, 15 TD's, 12 INT's with a 87.2 Passer Rating (Not counting yesterday)

You want to know how much he has improved?

Take away his rookie year and his numbers:

62.9%, 229ypg, 8.2ypa, 12 TD's, 7 INT's with a 92.0 Passer Rating

Bottom line, Suggs is entitled to his opinion and if you look at what he said? It was not all that bad.

Get over it, Bear.

January 14, 2011  07:18 PM ET

Suggs is just one of those guys who loves the sound of his own voice, good player but not great he acts like he's LT or Ware an elite player. Your just OK why dont you work on your game and not your soundbites

Big Ben is a better QB than Rivers....

Bear's position would have been clearer if he said "incorrect" instead of wrong. Voted left for now though

Inaccurate is more on the lines I was thinking....point still made. But I think Brady is a sissy la la anyway.

January 14, 2011  09:18 PM ET

Bear adds a lot of unnecessary spaces in all his args.

January 14, 2011  10:52 PM ET

I think it is fair to assume Big Ben is not Brady or Manning.
But that doesn't mean he shouldn't be mentioned at all.
And comparing teams is always a subjective thing.
So at the end of the day, both left & right are saying true things.

I personally like BB. I think he is a good QB. And his only fault is to come at a time when Brady & Manning are at their peak! :)
but that should not diminish him
