You said in a comment that Worthlessberger is a better QB than Rivers.
NO!!!!!
Rivers yearly averages:
Passer rating-97.2
TD's-27
INT's-11
Yards- 3902
Yards/A-8.0
Comp%-63.7
Rapes-0
Worthlessberger
passer rating- 92.5
TD's- 21
INT's- 12
yards- 3214
yards/A-8.0
Comp%-63.1%
Rapes- 1
I swear to god if you mention super bowls I'm going on a Trent Dilfer tirade
Rivers wins all but 1 stat, and the one he didn't win was a tie
Clear domination all around
Sure Worthlessberger makes the occasional spectacular play, but that's all he can do. He's 1 dimensional, and relies on his supporting cast to make him look better then he actually is. be honest, does how many play-off games does he win without that Shittsburgh D?
Rivers on the other hand can adjust what he wants to do, he doesn't need to rely on the big play. he can have days where he throws for 400+ yards, but also have games where he complete 17 of 23 or something like that. And he did it this year without his biggest weapons for the most part, and not many people remember that he made a pro-bowl with Keenan McCardell and Eric Parker as his 2 starting WR's.

You seem to be calling me out a lot in your latest return to the Nation.
Those regular season stats are real nice, Fucius. However, I have a question for you if you would so kind as to answer. Why did you leave out playoff stats???
Hmmm??? In 7 games (3-4, 42.8%)
Rivers: 58.9%, 260ypg, 7.95ypa, 8 TD's to 9 INT's with a 79.2 Passer Rating
Big Ben? 9-2 in 11 games (81.8%):
61.6%, 224.1ypg, 7.95ypa, 17 TD's to 12 INT's with an 88.5 Passer Rating
Ben plays better in the postseason. You left them off intentionally because they do not help your case.
Make all the excuses about the Steelers defense being better (the Chargers have not exactly had a scrub D) or better RB (Tomlinson?) but the bottom line?
Ben gets the job done.
Worthlessberger?
Nice hater-ade there, Fucius.
Rapes? Allegedly. That does not affect his play on the field at all.
Throwdown!!!
BRING THE PAIN!!!
And Fucius, you would not have "shanked" me in the "yard." Do not kid yourself about that....
Confucius. Trout said 01/16, 07:02 PM
Those are some nice stats, but you're forgetting something
Rivers has played just 7 post-season games, which means stats can get skewed when you have 1 bad game, and as it turns out Philip Rivers did have 2 horrific games . The 2007 AFC Championship game Philip Rivers played with a torn ACL and his first play-off game where he played with a torn Lisfranc (arc of your foot). 2 very painful injuries that hampered him severely, don't believe me? Go smash your knee and/or mess up your foot and see how well you can step into a throw
Let's see what his stats would look like if we remove those games
Comp%-63.1
TD's- 8
INT's-6
Yards PG- 275.8
yards/A- 8.6
AVERAGE passer rating- 94.0
I'm not going to calculate the passer rating, because that'll take for ever, but I did average it, Ben's average is 89.5
So when Rivers doesn't have a severe injury, he's just fine in the post-season, and maybe he'd have a ring if LT would've stopped sucking in the post-season (just 1 100 yard game)
And all that aside, it's not like Ben is Montana like in the post-season. He's solid, but not spectacular in the play-offs, and that doesn't make up for Rivers' statistical DOMINATION
DJRoxalot said 01/16, 08:49 PM
Rivers is a Fantasy QB. But when it matters? He is not the QB you want leading your team. The slow starts season after season is just one example of that.
A great leader does not need to have a great 2nd half of the season just to slip into the playoffs.
Peyton Manning and Tom Brady do it from Week One.
In Manning's case this season it was a little different. He was without a lot of his offensive firepower for a major portion of the season.
But what happened? Manning led his team to the playoffs because he is a leader and he knows what it takes to win.
And he did not have the best offense AND the best defense in the NFL. Plus his running game was atrocious for most of the season.
Take out games? You can just remove certain games to make your argument sound better? Thought that was why they play the games....Maybe if he was hurt, he should have not played? I mean if he was hurting his team.
"He's solid, but not spectacular in the play-offs, and that doesn't make up for Rivers' statistical DOMINATION."
He is effective and he wins games. Including 2 Super Bowls.
And Big Ben is not Trent Dilfer, Fucius. Or Brad Johnson. He is a lot better.
Confucius. Trout said 01/16, 09:18 PM
For gods sake DJ. You aren't this dense, I know you.
I love how you completely glossed over everything I said in my last argument and instead start rambling on about Peyton manning. Way to distract people from the REAL argument.
You mentioned Ben ONE TIME IN THAT ARGUMENT. Just 1. We aren't arguing Tom Brady or Peyton Manning we are arguing Philip Rivers Vs. Ben Roethlisberger, try to stay on topic.
The only reason I can see is that you have no response to any of the FACTS I provided.
"He is effective and he wins games. Including 2 Super Bowls."
.......
Trent Dilfer=GOAT!!!!!!
Ben can't compare with the all mighty Dilfer and all his intangibles!!!
Anyway DJ, Worthlessberger did not win 2 Superbowls. The Steelers won 2 superbowls. Get that through your head. Neither Philip Rivers or Roethlisberger play Safety.
Winning games does not make you a good QB, especially when you're being compared who produces more than you across the board. Just think about it, is Troy Aikman better than Dan Marino?
That's the kind of comparison this is right now.
DJRoxalot said 01/17, 06:52 PM
"Trent Dilfer=GOAT!!!!!!
Ben can't compare with the all mighty Dilfer and all his intangibles!!!"
Really, Fucius? You mentioned Big Ben and Dilfer in the same sentence?
That is crazy, even for you.
Okay, since you opened that can of worms let me roll up my sleeves and give you some numbers. Mmmkay?
Dilfer's postseason numbers when the Ravens won the SB?
43.7%, 147.5ypg, 8.1ypa, 3 TD's to 1 INT with a 85.2 Passer Rating
In the SB against the Giants? 12 of 25 (48%) for 148 yards, 1 TD
Big Ben in the playoffs? In case you forgot....9-2 in 11 games (81.8%) as opposed to Dilfer's LEGENDARY 5-1 record.
61.6%, 224.1ypg, 7.95ypa, 17 TD's to 12 INT's with an 88.5 Passer Rating
Way better than Dilfer.
"The Steelers won 2 superbowls. Get that through your head."
Get this through your head. Sure, he sucked in his first SB but a lot of youngsters struggle their first appearance in the Big Show. It is called nerves.
In the 2nd SB?
Big Ben was 21 of 30 (70%) for 256 yards, 8.5ypa, 1 TD to 1 INT with a 93.2 Passer Rating
He was a huge reason they won the game. He led them on a game winning drive to win the game. Completed a 6 yard pass to Holmes.

When trying to judge an individual player's ability, rather than the team as a whole, yes, other factors are relevant.

Whether he did it or not he was an idiot for even being there though.

As for the numbers, Rivers doesn't have to play behind one of the worst offensive lines in football year after year, AND he passes less, as shown by his yds/attempt that is the same as Rivers.

I could care less how sexist you may or may not be, what I find irritating is how incredibly ignorant you are, of apparently everything you feel the need speak your opinion on. I mean if you had actually bothered to read any of the Ben rape coverage, you could perhaps have put together a coherent logical thought, but instead we get this mindless crap. By the way, you never did answer my question from before...I'm even more interested than before to know what university could produce someone as mentally incapable as you?
