The 49ers Are The Most Overrated Team in Football

I live in the Bay Area and I have been hearing how the 49ers will win the NFC West since last season ended. Being a Die-Hard Seahawks fan I did not agree with this. To be honest I don't know why everyone is on their bandwagon. Their offense runs through ONE guy, and that is it. Their defense, while it looked OK the other night, has been one of the worst over the past few season. Even after that AWFUL display on Monday the so-called "experts" are still picking them to do wonderful things. I don't see it and I think they will be luck to break even this year.

I'm going with

Da Bears-

Here is the problem
define overrated.

Overrated: To overestimate the merits of; rate to highly

To me this is NOT the niners- they are not expected to do much by most people other than mount a stiff challange to the wildcard- some think that a down year by seattle may allow the niners to get a NFC West Crown- homers only expect a Super Bowl

The Bears are expected to contend for homefield advantage and a NFC crown by most sports "experts" and not to have any problems getting a NFC North Crown-

I would like to remind folks what happend the LAST time the Bears went 13-3 and was expected to contend for the next 20 years
Jauron was the coach then by the way

THe Bears have lost people on Defense be it to FA or the NFL-PD- major stars on that defense are going to have to step up week in and week ut for a second straight year to be successful- and that will wear on them- lets not forget that Rivera is gone- but the Bears have 5 new assistant coaches

Lets also remeber that Da Bears have been waiting for Benson to step up and take over the running game almost as long as Benson was Lt Gov. (outdated reference?)

niners? not so much pressure

You really don't think they have pressure. In the Bay Area they are all I hear about. You might be right. I'm not seeing why people think this will be a down year for the 'Hawks. I know that might have struggle for a half the other day, but I think that they will be strong. As far as "overrated," I think that they are getting praise and high expectations that they have not earned.

Well the Seahawks have thier own problems- but they should keep the niners to the wildcard round AT THE MOST-

The Bears have much steeper expectations and they should as defending NFC champions- but the changes on the coaching staff, the changes in personell and the continued inconsistantcy at QB might prove thier downfall sooner rather than later

not to mention that the Bears are known to be cheap as well so mid-season FA or trades might not be coming to help

Nobody nationally is even picking the 49ers to win their division and few expect them to get a wild card so how are they over rated? Of course you are going to hear more about them than any other team in the bay area...that's where they play. Nationally, they are hardly a blip on the radar.

Most over rated is either the Bears or the Saints.

How so? The only team that is getting any respect or publicity at all is the Cowboys. How is the NFC East overrated then, much less rated at all?

after week 1 the bengals are the most overrated, trust me...

Hate to be the one to break it to you surfer... but no one outside the Bay Area is paying much attention to the 49er's, much less hyping or over hyping them. The only time I hear them mentioned at all is when people are talking about fantasy football (Frank Gore and Vernon Davis, and maybe Jason Cambell as a sleeper canidate).

I see some people have been saying that no one is paying attention to the Niners, but I've seen more than a few articles in CNNSI that have said they would win their division and be contenders. Of course, after that crappy game they just played no one is standing behind them. There were even anaylsts outside of CNNSI that said the Niners would be a contender. There was definitely a ton of hype before the start of the season. If they some how turn it around you watch how many come out of the woodwork and say they have been saying it all along...
