The 49ers Are The Most Overrated Team In Football

I live in the Bay Area, so I have been hearing about how the 49ers were going to win the NFC West since last season ended. Being a HUGE Seahawks fan, I did not agree with this. Since the season started a few days ago, I have been reading how the so-called "experts" keep picking the 49ers to do wonderful things. I can't figure this out. Their offense runs threw ONE guy and that is it. Their defense, while it looked OK the other night, has been one of the worst over the past few seasons. I don't see why everyone is on their bandwagon. This my first "throwdown" so I hope I did this right.

The 49ers have been picked to do big things because they have improved their team greatly. They have one of the best running backs in the league in Frank Gore, and Alex Smith has one more year of experience under his belt, it seems he's ready to lead this team successfully. Also, they dont have the same defense that they have had the past few years. You do recall the buzz about them signing Clements to such an expensive deal. While some people see the money spent as a loss, he was the best available at his position, and they have made many other upgrades in their defense. Also, I was under the impression that most experts were picking the seahawks and rams over the 49ers. While the 49ers may be a year or two away from true success, they are nowhere near the most overrated team in the nfl

I guess we have reading different experts all of the ones that I have read have picked the niners. Alex Smith is not ready and he is going to suffer from the loss of Norv Turner. He does not have a good arm and is VERY unsure of himself. While picking Clements might have been a good signing the rest of the defense is below average. So far Vernon Davis is a bust. He can run his mouth, but he not been able to back it up on the field.

Alex Smith isnt ready? He's in his third year in the NFL, and last year he nearly doubled his quarterback rating, if he has even half of the improvement he did last year, he will be one of the top quarterbacks in the league. If anything, he will benefit from Norv Turner leaving, who was running him in the offense like he was a seasoned vet, not mentoring him like the young player he is. Vernon Davis a bust? In only 8 starts last year and ten games, he caught 20 passes and had 3 td's, and only fumbled once, sounds pretty good for a rooke to me

Vernon Davis was supposed to revolutionize his position. When is THAT going to happen. I know Alex Smith is in his 3rd year, that doesn't mean he is going to improve. Just look at his performance the other night. Norv Turner is a very good coordinator and will be missed. They snuck up on teams last year. That will not happen this year.

They've improved. They are going to win more games then they did last year, and challenge for the division

the 49ers overrated? wow, well first of all the nfc east is weak, seattle having the biggest shot, but really sf and st louis have a chance as well, the 49ers arent overrated, they play in a weak division and have been outlined respectfully

Report Offensive CommentThis has nothing to do with the throwdown, but being from the bayarea I would like say that I am going to miss Coach Bill Walsh. I was never a 49er fan, but I really enjoyed his view of the game.

Report Offensive CommentBeing a Cowboy fan I am certainly not very fond of the 49ers, but Bill Walsh was a genius who built an offensive system that put moderately talented QBs in the HOF. He is among the greatest coaches in the history of the game. May he R.I.P.

Report Offensive CommentI will agree that they are overrated. The Seahawks will win the Division due to Alexander being back to his old self and them having a better defense than SF. No, Alex smith is not there yet. Are you kiding me, 15-31 126 yards, against the Cardinals? No, I think not.
