The SEC has been the best Conference top to bottom in Division 1A College Football the last 5 years!

A team from the SEC has won the BCS National Championship the last 5 years, 6 of the last 8 years.

10 SEC teams went to Bowl games the 2010-11 season, leaving only 2 teams that didn't cut the mustard!


One game does not make a season. When deciding the best college football conference over the past five years you have to consider overall records, bowl records, and other factors.

My choice for top overall conference is the Big East.

The SEC went 5-5 in bowl games this year. Does that sound like the top conference to you? The Big East went 4-2. You might say that this was only a one year thing. Well guess what? It isnt. As a whole, the SEC has a career bowl winning percentage of 54, while the Big East has won 56 percent of the time. Year after year, the Big East wins more bowl games

Futurmore, over the past two years Big East teams are 8-4 in bowl games while SEC teams are 11-9

Want more? Current Big East teams are 12-6 against SEC teams in Bowl Games. The SEC only beats the likes of West Virginia, Syracuse, and others 33 percent of the time. 33 percent! Does that 33 percent sound like the top conference to you?

However, this is not only a postseason trend. From 1990-2009 the SEC was 19-21 against current Big East teams.

So how can a conference that is not statistically better against the other be called the best conference in football?

Two words. It cant


"One game does not make a season" winning the National Championship is 1 game? Come on man, are you for real?

"Big East went 4-2" how many of those bowls were BCS Bowl? Um that would be NONE! How many BCS bowls did the SEC play in, Um that would be 2, out of 4! SEC is playing better competition, of course the Big East will and should have a better record, they are playing against lesser teams.

The Big East had 6 bowl eligible teams 2010-2011 season, the SEC as I stated had 10 bowl eligible teams, in the last 5 years the #'s are much the same, the SEC plays in more and better bowls against better teams. How many BCS championships has the Big East won? You can't honestly say its "just one game". The entire season gets you to a bowl! A BCS bowl at that.

SEC vs Big East football head to head record based on "current conference affiliation" here you go: The SEC leads 122-83-10, the Big East for years had strong bowl teams in the University of Miami and Virginia Tech, ACC teams now. Of course this is besides the point, I said "the last 5 years."

The Mountain West went 4-1 in bowl games 2010-2011 season, they surely are the best conference by your argument!


One game. The BCS National Championship is one game. Thats the reason FBS football is one of the few college sports in which the NCAA does not crown a champion. This year TCU or Ohio State could have won it. Last year Boise State could have won it. The BCS Championship game is one game that should not define the national champion.

The Big East might have only had six bowl eligible teams but theres only eight teams in the conference. The SEC has twelve, so they should have been in more bowl games.

The 122-83-10 all time stat does not pertain to this topic

The bottom of the SEC is weak

Ole Miss lost to Jacksonville State. I didnt even know Jacksonville State had an athletic program, let alone a football team but they were able to beat a team that some experts had in the top 25 going into the season. Even Rutgers beat their FCS opponent

Current Big East teams are 12-6 against SEC teams in Bowl Games. Virginia Tech and Miami do not factor into that stat at all.

So how can a conference that is not statistically better against the other be called the best conference in football?

Could have - would have - should have, the fact is NO Big East team has won a BCS Championship, plain and simple. Its not one game brother, its takes a whole season to get to a BCS bowl, a excellent(undefeated) season to get to the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!

I'll ask you the question again, how many BCS Championships does the Big East have. If the Big East is the better conference how come they have fewer BCS bowl wins?

The Big East plays in lesser bowls, thus they have a better record against the bottom of the SEC.

How many times in the last 5 years has a Big East team beat, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, Tennesseee?

Here's a example, one of your bowl victory over the SEC - Pitt(5-2) - Kentucky(2-6) (in conf)Kentucky 2nd worst team in the SEC West, Pitt 1st(tied, 3 teams at 5-2) in the Big East, great win there buddy!!

No way the Big East is better!

The Big East has eight football teams while the SEC has 12. Do the math 12/8 is 1.5. Times the 1.5 by the 10 wins the Big East has and they would have 15 if they had as many teams as the SEC. Therefore, its even.

The BCS is a joke. Come talk to me when your team wins a real NCAA title.

The Big East doesnt spend nearly as much money on football as the SEC. Maybe if SEC schools starting spending money on attracting decent students instead of football titles you would be winning this argument.
