1. Yankees
2. Red Sox
3. Lakers
4. Steelers
5. Packers
- was very close to naming the Heat, Celtics, Longhorns - but I thought that the teams I have listed have more of a bandwagon following than others
Hate to list first, but your first comment says so - so I guess I'll post my argument just like this

I think you made a mistake..
I live in florida... I REPEAT I LIVE IN FLORIDA.. AND the number of people I see that wear Steeler shirts is off the charts!?!?!?!?!
I can see red sox and yankee people migrating there way down to warmer climates.. But people from Pitt, nah! Its pure, oh the Steelers are doing well, lets jump on the wagon..
You are jealous of my list..
Packers is a weak choice.. I dont know anyone that supports them in real life, (fan nation does not count!)..
Man United AND Brazil should both be ahead of the red sox..
Man United, are the yankees of soccer.. tons and tons of people want to jump on the best team in the sport.. Tons of kids and random losers jump on this team..
Same with Brazil.. Every World Cup, people all over the world want to jump on the favorites..
My fav examples of this were;
1. this loser Israel girl on CNN
2. AN ENGLISHMAN!?!?!?!?!?!
Luckily this was in 1998, and Brazil got destroyed in the final! The ONLY time in my life I was a France supporter!
Lakers is a solid choice.. Nothing wrong with that..

Is the number of Steeler shirts off the charts? You'll have to tell me that, I can't answer that for you.
The Yankees and Red Sox have the biggest fan bases in baseball, by far. And when I mean fan bases, I mean a lot are bandwagoners. There isn't any arguing with that. People jump on the Yankees and Red Sox bangwagons because of how good both teams are. The Yankees have won 27 World Championships, and people want to brag about that and are instantly a "fan" of their team. When the Red Sox turned it around in 2004, they were on their bandwagon as well. Heavily.
Not sure why you don't have the Lakers up there. With the success that they've been having the last couple of years in basketball, and with Kobe Bryant, you see plenty of people that are Laker "fans" just because of Kobe and because the Lakers are good.
How are the Packers a weak choice? I know FIRST HAND that in Wisconsin, there are MANY people that, ever since the Packers made the playoffs, were repping the Packers from then on out. A lot of Packer "fans" appeared after their win vs Chicago, and it seems like everyone is a fan of the Packers. Hell, the Packers have a bunch of fans all over the nation.

The steelers are the 49ers of the 80's, the cowboys of the 90's and the pats of the early 2000's.. Everyone loves a winner, especially an NFL champion.. That is why there are soooo many band wagon jumpers.. Yesterday, at the school I was teaching, there were 2 kids wearing Polomalu shirts, which is sad, cause there parents made them bandwagon jumpers..
The reason why I ranked the steelers number one, is because they are the new fad.. And everywhere I go, all I hear is how much people love the steelers..
The Yankees have by far and away a bigger fan base than the Red Sox.. Thats part of the reason why I put distance between the two.. It pains me to say this, but this is Yankee country, (and this is coming from a Red Sox fan:( The Yankees are popular for several reasons;
1. People, whn they think of the Yankees they think of winning, (probably cause they have won 27 championships:(
2. NY, is the coolest city in the States, (miles better than Boston:(
3. Babe Ruth, and all the other Yankee Legends..
Packers.. Oh dear, did you forget that Favre left there about three years a go?:)
They were more popular under Favre..

I don't think so kids are bandwagon jumpers just because they have a Polamalu shirt... I have one, I'm not a bandwagoner...
The Steelers shouldn't be number 1. They have a lot of bandwagon jumpers, but they just aren't number 1. They aren't like the Yankees or Red Sox where there are millions of fans all over the country. Hell, just look at the international players, especially during the Little League World Series. Who do they all say their favorite players/teams are? Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees, Red Sox, David Ortiz, etc. All Yankees and Red Sox. They are the two biggest bandwagon fanbases.
Packers are a big fanbase, and a lot of people are true Packer fans... but there are a ton that aren't, but are just jumping on the bandwagon because of the history the Packers' have, because they're good right now and because Green Bay has been good for the past 10 years or so.
I know first hand that the amount of Packer "fans" at my school have gone way up just because of the Packers going to the Super Bowl. Nobody cares if they lose and for the entire season, people didn't care. Now, they care like it's life or death. The Super Bowl has raised the bandwagoners.

The Yankees have to be number one. As much as I love seeing Yankee gear wherever I go, it gets annoying seeing people down south decked out in gear when they can barely name three players

Those aren't bandwagon jumpers, they just like the hats and really aren't sports fans. When they're wearing red they'll have on a Reds hat. There's tons of Yankee fans because they're tons of NY'ers and they move to other states. When you go around the country and see people wearing other teams stuff its Cowboys and Steelers. In NY you have a bunch of Yankee haters and they're not gonna root for the Mets who suck so they root for the Sox. Yanks aren't even top 5.

I agree with you man. For football their are two teams. Cowboys and Steelers. For baseball, its only the Yankees. Are their many NY transplants? Yup. But there are many Texas transplants also.
Im voting ---> unless left comes up with a well written argument that doesnt bore the heck out of me

Ehhh, these lists are kinda pointless w/o the Heat in here. Almost everyone I know became either a Heat fan because of LeBron going to MIA (most were "Cavs" fans) or Lakers fan because of Kobe and that they're the defending champs. People did the same thing when the Pistons won the 'chip back in '04. I'm still a loyal Pistons fan (even though most look at me crazy), but I ain't no band-wagoner like everyone else. And I always never liked LeBron. Hate's a strong word...
Been a Pistons fan since the days of Grant Hill and Jerry Stackhouse. (S.N. those same new Heat fans say the Miami Heats) pisses me off...

the Heat have definitely sparked way up on the bandwagon fan list
I know that a couple of my friends root harder for the Heat to win games (and for LeBron to do well) than for the Milwaukee Bucks

The worst bandwagon fans I EVER saw were the following:
(1) Chicago Bulls during the Jordan era. And none of them root for the team anymore.
(2) Islander fans 1980-1984. Now the team has no fans. Where'd they all go?
(3) Steeler fans outside of Pittsburgh. Most of these Yahoos have never stepped foot inside Pittsburgh
(4) Red Sox fans after 2004. Never saw Red Sox hats outside of New England before 2004 and now they're everywhere. Last year at Citifield I saw a bunch of "Mets fans" with Met Jersies and Red Sox hats. What the hell is that? Why not just write "Yankee hater" across your forehead and be done with it.
(5) Man U fans in the US. Most of these tools have never been to a soccer game
