Competitive eating is more of a sport than NASCAR.

Racing cars is not a sport, it's just not.

It's just operating a machine, if you consider it a sport then you also have to consider playing video games a sport, because it's the same concept.

At-least with competitive eating the eaters are the ones responsible, not a machine.

If Jimmie Johnson is an athlete, than so is every cab driver, Bus driver, commuter and pilot in the world.

Being able to eat a lot takes a lot more PHYSICAL effort than driving a car.

I know one thing..

Confusing, you would sh8t urself if you were in a car going 200mph

takes some kahoneys

Doubt it...

Still, going fast doesn't make it a sport.

What exactly makes it a sport? Can someone tell me?

ever hear of a word..

umm..

adrenaline?

you doubt you would be scared

extreme sports are extreme sports..

you don't have to wack a bat, thow a ball, or physically hit someone..

Racing is a competition..

you have places and standings in the race..

You play offense and defense in racing..

Blocking somebody to get a space..taking the lead .. gunning for the end of the race..

it's all about which car has the most stamina lmao. (pitcrew, car itself)

Tell Dale Earnhardt Jr. Nascar isn't a sport, he'd probably slap the smile off your face..

NASCAR is for inbred hicks who need an activity while they're drunk.

Competitive eating is for fans of real sports and heart disease

GREAT ARGUMENTS CONFUSING

CAVS WON

CAVS WON

Nascar is much a sport.. you just dont exert that much energy in it..

Dumb statement.

But I know you're half way sarcastic.

I'm not taking it because I don't think that he's serious

Hey now, I've been up to 150 mph in my old Firebird. 200 wouldn't scare me. I think.

An afternoon stuck in the shi'ite can, on the other hand...

When I go to Germany I plan to eat a 72oz shnitzel. I'll tell you right now, that would be far more difficult to do than driving in circles.

good luck with that!

The car generates the power, the driver generates the speed - the G Forces inside that car throw the driver around every turn. The speed multiplies every shudder, bump and slip inside the car. I've been on track in a car at one of the 1.5 mile tracks with a pro driver who was "only" doing 180 down the straightaway - the strength, durability and quickness necessary to shepherd one of those beasts around the track may not be what we consider an elite athlete, but it's sure more talent than being able to scarf down hot dogs.

Driving at high speeds for hundreds of laps effects the body more than anyone seems to want to admitt. This is sort of like saying Soccer isn't a sport.

February 10, 2011  01:30 PM ET

What is this"soccer"of which you speak?

February 10, 2011  01:40 PM ET

Let me see you sit in a metal box @140+ degrees for three and a half to four hours going 180+mph and tell me you don't need conditioning to stay concious. Vote goes right

Here we go again...another guy that I would pay good money to see strapped inside a car on the Daytona or Talledega track going 180+.....You would be able to hear the screams over the roar of the engine. ------------>
