Belichick should not only be fined but suspended just like Paceman Jones and Chris Henry!

The fines given to Belichick and the Pat's organization is not sufficient. Goodell has suspended of several players, who constantly violate NFL policies. With this being said, why isn't the same harsh discipline handed down to coaches who violate league policies? This isn't the first time that Belichick has tapped opposing teams signals, he's been accused several times. Additionally, Goodell recently addressed all teams and expressed his unwillingness to tolerate the taping of opposing teams signs. It is inherently unjust to allow players to be suspended and fined while coaches get a slap on the wrist. Shouldn't coaches be held to the higher standard? Coach set the tone and the standards for their team. After suspending Pacman Jones and Chris Henry Rodger Goodell stated "[w]e must protect the integrity of the NFL..."[t]he highest standards of conduct must be met by everyone in the NFL because it is a privilege to represent the NFL, not a right. These players, and all members of our league, have to make the right choices and decisions in their conduct on a consistent basis." I guess in reality he only meant the players...not the owners or the coaches.

I agree he should be suspended, but not as severely as Pac-Man or even Henry. I mean c-mon, They have both broken the law and Pac-Man "allegedly" paralyzed a man. Thats way, way more severe than taping a freaking game.

A persons life always takes precedence over a game.

Pac Man has been arrested 6 times and questioned by the police 11. He has been arrested on counts of

assault
felony vandalism
disorderly conduct and public intoxication
the strip club incident, where he showered a stripper with 100's of dollar bills, and ordered her to give it back. He allegedly grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against the stage.

And more

Chris Henry
pulled over for speeding, marijuana was found
connected to a sex crime
DUI
suspended for substance abuse
provided alcohol to minors

Belichick
videotaped a game

Puts things in perspective, huh?

Pacman and Henry's offenses were horrific, however they were handled by the criminal court systems. Now, concerning the NFL neither has greater weight, punishment is based on the # of offenses, not the severity and Belichick is a repeat offender. Belichick's actions have embarrassed his franchise and has called into question every accomplishment of his team. Secondly, when does the NFL value human life over all other. Vick got the worse punishment of them all, he didn't assault a single human.

no, they haven't been handled by the criminal court system, they are both still awaiting numerous trials

Now, based on your number of offenses, that works against you

Pac Man
6 arrests
11 times being questioned by the police
1 subpoena

Chris Henry
5 arrests
1 exoneration, assault of a 16 year old
2 failed drug tests
one failure to appear in court

Bill Belichick
1 time being caught videotaping

Yes, he may have done it more than once, but the fact is, he was caught once, and that all that matters

Also, the suspension policy isn't based on number of offenses, Vick has one, and he is suspended indefinitely. So lets look at how these offenses stack up

Pac Man
assault
domestic violence
DUI
use of a weapon with possible intent to KILL

Chris Henry
DUI
Substance abuse
assault
provided alcohol to minors
sex abuse (alleged)

Micheal Vick
Brutally killing dogs for no reason at all

Bill Belichick
Caught video taping one game

Again the severity of his offense compared to these 3 is so miniscule, i think the most he should be suspended is one game, but not compared with Pac Man or Henry

Yes your countdown is quiet impressive, and I concur, however I donn't make the rules. The point you are making is better addressed in a thread about the NFL's punishment policy and its absurdity. Why severity isn't the big issue is a joke, however its simply not the issue at hand. Belichick has been accused of cheating in the past, he would have been convicted, however the league just ignored it and didn't investigate in an appropriate fashion, mainly because coaches get the easy way out!

"Why severity isn't the big issue is a joke"

Then why are you conforming to this joke? Yes the NFL is cracking down hard, but to suspend Belichick for the same time as Henry or Pac-Man is just ridiculous. I say fine him a lot, and take away his first round draft picks for the next 3 years. And make it so he is not able to trade for more.

I mean, you're suspending one guy for something probably the whole coaching staff knew about, i doubt it was a big secret to them.

You should punish the whole team for a crime the whole team commited

Wow, not the guy you want your first TD against...

September 15, 2007  11:53 PM ET

it was up there so long, i just had to take it,

good luck Rhonnie, and have fun on the site

September 15, 2007  11:54 PM ET

What good would suspending him do? They should forfeit the game.

September 15, 2007  11:54 PM ET

Pac-Man Jones IMO should have the death penalty

September 15, 2007  11:59 PM ET

death penalty may be harsh, but if he is proven guilty in the case where he paralyzed the guy, he should be out of the NFL for good and locked away for so long when he gets out he won't even be able to lift a gun so he can shoot it

September 15, 2007  11:59 PM ET

He mecilessly beat a woman. When he was escroted out, he said im going to kill you tonight your dead. Came back shot up the place and left an innocent person permanantly hanicapped
so lets see
threat to society
domestic violence
assault
use of a weapon
Alright, death is extreme, but at LEAST 6 years in jail. Plus thats only 1 of the 5 times he was arrested.

He used to be my favorite corner, but now I cant even stand him I call him adam.

Thanks for the warm welcome boys...this site keeps me awake during classes!

September 16, 2007  12:16 AM ET

Well, you're a little late on this topic, sweetheart. Oh, didn't you get the memo from Belicheat? We're moving on... to an A-whooping tomorrow night courtesy o tha Bolts.
But welcome to fannation. And you got my vote. Not because of your lengthy argument or the flyass Lam in your pic, but because you have a grade D meathead opponent who is agreeing with your argument. This is common here. We call it jock-itch.

September 16, 2007  12:19 AM ET

yes, i have finally been insulted by Ruby! my fannation resume is complete!

September 16, 2007  12:20 AM ET

WOW, that was your first time. I have a huge target on me. She will not leave me alone. She doesnt get to me any more though.

September 16, 2007  12:24 AM ET

Not a problem, nomar. You've earned it. With an endless bevy of stutifyingly inane submissions. You're diploma will come in the mail. What trailer park was that again?....

September 16, 2007  12:36 AM ET

Anyone who feels some sort of inner need to post definitions in their reply in order to inflate their own point, and therefore their own over-inflated ego, clearly needs to re-evaluate their debate technique.

I snub my nose at thee. Vote for Rhonnie.

September 16, 2007  12:46 AM ET

Yeah that makes sense...suspend him and make the entire team responsible for his actions ... it's a witch-hunt like Mr. Wilson's

September 16, 2007  01:00 AM ET

I used to admire the Pats but not now. That is why Bellichek's offense is worse than Pacman or Henry. In humanity what they did (or were arrested for at this point) was obviously worse. However, with NFL rules what Bellichek did affected the integrity of the game itself. It was a crime to the game. Players outside conduct does not actually impact the game and that is the difference

September 16, 2007  01:02 AM ET

Forget Pacman and Henry, he should be suspended for the FIVE games that Wade Wilson got, because according to Goodell "coaches are held to a higher standard than players". And what Wilson did was not illegal, nor was it a violation of league rules. He was suspended for embarassing the league by having his name come up in an investigation into a company that WAS breaking the law, but nothing Wade himself did was illegal.

September 16, 2007  01:05 AM ET

Actually he was caught before... they had an assitant that was told to stop didnt and then was caught again in the same game (I believe it was the Lions). On that occassion he was just given a warning. Of course this is the guy who tried to intentionally wet down a field in the playoffs so opponents speed burners would be slowed down. Until now NE hasnt had WR power. Belicheck is a disgrace and Pacman a felon

September 16, 2007  01:06 AM ET

"What good would suspending him do?"

Are you kidding? Take away the head coach from all activities for X number of games and you don't know what "good" that would do? It would hurt them much more than taking a low first round draft choice away. Especially since they also hold the 49ers 1st rounder next year.

"They should forfeit the game."

Can't do that. Can't just give the Jets a win after the fact. Paricularly since the Pats were caught before the cheating could help them any. That's not fair to the rest of the NFC teams that might be fighting with the Jets for a wild card.

September 16, 2007  01:08 AM ET

"Actually he was caught before... they had an assitant that was told to stop didnt and then was caught again in the same game (I believe it was the Lions"

Yes, that was the Lions game. He's been caught many times, actually, including in Lambeau field last year. Takes some balls to do it on a road game, I'll give him that.

He wasn't warned before, because in the past the opposing team has simply asked them to stop. Mangini took it further by asking NFL security to confiscate the camera and filing a formal complaint with the league.

LMAO at noon's trailer park questioning...whew, this is interesting! Joining fannation might have been my worse move...I cannot concentrate on anything else...OH NO! LOL!
