Randy says he's done.
Dana seems to accept it.
55k fans applauded him and cheered for him making sure everyone knew what this guy is about: He's the most loved veteran of this sport, and someone that despite his record, is very respected by all fighters! Friends & foes!
The question is: If you were Dana, would you try to make one last fight? Against whom? And how do you think it would end?
My pick is a simple one that in my mind makes a lot of sense!
I would have made a mega-fight of Randy & Fedor.
Both are on the way out.
Randy was on a 3 fight-winning streak (a feat he didn't do since 2001) prior to his loss to Machida
Fedor on his end lost twice and with that his unbeatable aura, so frankly I believe he will not last much longer.
So obviously this fight would have lost much of his luster, but IMO this would be a fitting end to both warriors!
And IMO Fedor would win.
But despite (another loss), Randy would leave the game fighting a GOAT in a fitting farewell and a celebration to all longtime MMA fans.
Now that UFC owns Strikeforce, this fight would have been made possible, so this is my choice!
Disagree? TD!

Well, here's my situation
I think Fedor would beat Randy..
Yes, that's the dream matchup some 3 years ago.. lol seriously!
It would be a dream MATCHUP .. but fight?
eh, don't know about all that..
I'm not saying Randy's a scrub now or anything, but Machida did knock his teeth out Steven Segal Style..
My pick .. So Randy could have a compeitive fight , and get one more W
I say Randy vs TITO Ortiz..
I mean, Tito vs Ryan Bader? are they serious on this one?
That's givin Tito an upgrade fight from his recent loss to Matt Hamill. Bones Jones just edged out BAder.. Now Bader vs Tito?
Tito vs Randy might not ring bells in the mma world, but both are on there way out of the sport..
Tito vs Randy match right now would be a Loser leaves or loser retires in Randy's case..
Fedor is scheduled to fight Hendo.. Tito vs Bader
It makes more sense to have Tito vs Randy.. This brings back a classic matchup from years past, and pits the Biggest villain vs the biggest face in UFC history.. These two have lil gas in the tank , and would make more sense than Fedor who's lost to some big time heavyweights recently.. TitonRandy SAME DIVIsion

Phrases from PCH:
"would be a dream MATCHUP .. but fight?"
and
"I'm not saying Randy's a scrub now or anything"
So you say Randy & Fedor would be a good Matchup but not a good fight?
And then you say Randy would not be competitive against Fedor?
Then you rant about Tito Fighting Bader.... did I get it right?
Let me start by noting that Randy was on a 3 fight-winning streak before Machida. So if anything, he's competitive.
And while I do agree Fedor is a HW, so was Randy. And it's not like Fedor is huge.
Randy fought enough times @ HW division and he would actually be taller and have longer reach than Fedor.
Let me remind you that Randy fought Big Nog as a HW. It was the fight of the year and btw, he took Big Nog to a decision!
And while the above shows how he is competitive, you offer him.... TITO???
Are you serious?
Do you know that Tito's last win was in 2006 against Ken Shamrock?
The reason Randy wanted to fight Machida, was that he didn't want to leave the game with a gimme fight (James Toney was just that)!
Against Fedor he would have something Tito could never offer Randy: A challenge!
Good try, Peachy!
PCH-LEH GO HEAT! said 05/02, 09:30 AM
Good try? lmao
Don't get Mad Roni..
Looka here buddy..
You bring up Tito's losing streak and Randy's winning streak... FAIL
Randy Couture's last 3 fight winning streeak you brought up..
who did he beat again...????
an OLD Mark Coleman
almost cut Brandon Vera
boxer JAMES TONEY?
Unlike Couture, Tito Ortiz lasted all 3 with Machida.. Tito also had Machida in a submission when the bell rung..
Listen.. Couture and TIto would be more competitive than Fedor vs Couture..
Yes, Fedor has lost two in a row.. WOW..
Fedor throw's BOMBS.. You think machida is bad..
Fedor's hands come at you like a frkn Wind MILL!
I think it's TOO LATE for that matchup...
Tito hasn't won since '06 .. you're right.. but for some REASON Dana has let him stay.. maybe because he hasn't been stopped since Liddell. or maybe his big draw with Rashad has givin him the slightest bit of light..
Randy vs Tito would actually be a good match at this point.. Roni you have NOTHING to prove otherwise.. tito last's till decisions.. that's a fact..
RAndy isn't the beast you think he is..
MTC ran outta space
Roni said 05/02, 07:48 PM
???You bring up Tito's losing streak???
5 years is not a losing streak. It???s a lifetime for a fighter!
???Randy Couture's win streak???
You are right and I apologize. I forgot to note how Randy took Big Nog to a decision, on a fight so good it was fight of the year!
I also forgot to mention how Randy was BEATING Lesnar and would have won that fight if he didn???t get caught by Lesnar???s punch on the second round. Lesnar was gassed, tired and frustrated. Randy was dirty boxing him, holding him against the cage and even took Lesnar down!
So I'm sorry for not putting a proper case for Randy, and thank you for pointing that out!
And thank you for saying how good Fedor is. But he did lose his last 2 fights and with that, his unbeatable aura!
??? NOTHING to prove???
That is exactly the issue here!
If Randy beats Tito, what does he prove? That Tito can???t win? WE KNOW THAT!
???RAndy isn't the beast you think he is???
I agree. but he is always competitive.
And fighting a legend in Fedor is a challenge! A thing a guy like Randy craves.
If Randy would want to retire after an easy win, he would have had retired before getting KTFO by Machida!
PCH-LEH GO HEAT! said 05/02, 10:47 PM
Randy DID NOT BEAT LESNAR..
RANDY DID NOT BEAT BIG NOG..
quit making excuses for the "natural"..
Fedor and Randy was the dream matchup some years ago when Randy was the HW champ.. To see Randy fight Fedor now.. stupid..
WHY?
FEdor is still in the heavyweight division.. In my opinion the Werdum loss was a FLUKE.. the Bigg Foot loss was not..
FEdor throws HARD HANDS.. His intensity in the cage is not matched and not even matched by one of the best ever.. RANDY COUTURE..
Randy before his last fight this past saturday was against a BOXER who had NO mma experience..
soo..
The argument of 3 in a row is kinda dumb as well..
Tito wouldn't have the loss streak he has if he faced people like JAMES **** TONEY
Tito is still very competetive .. so is Randy.. neither are at ELITE status..
Fedor's still headline cards, and showing some flares of old..
Randy is just a fighter.. He'll take on any challenge..
Tito vs Randy is a better option than Fedor vs Randy .. RIGHT NOW
Dream matchups are good in the time slot they need to occur in.. it's not now

I don't think Randy should have any more fights. I thought it wasn't a good idea for him to fight Machida in the first place. He had an awesome career, but this should/will be his last fight. Rarely does a athlete go out a winner, so losing his final match shouldn't be looked at as a bad thing. Waah.

Interesting kick... I like the Steven Seagal influence. This should be another TD, "If the UFC was around 30 years ago, who would be better? Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal?"

I would just hang it up.
47 years old, and he says he's tired of missing hunting seasons. I don't blame him. Maybe he'll have time to take that dream hunt in New Zealand.

that's the thing.
I don't think he should fight a top athlete in his prime. But fedor is also not the same he was before, but I think it would be a very competitive match.

Did you see Randy's David Letterman smile after the fight?
A jumping switch0front kick to the face, KTFO, and his front tooth put in the 3rd row. That has to be one of the 3 best KO's in UFC history.

I think Dana should drop Phil Davis at 133, and put Machida in the slot against Evans. It won't happen, but that was a serious confidence boost for Machida, and he needed it, and I would actually contemplate paying the $ to see that main event.

I was pretty drunk, but it was a nasty KO.
Not as nasty as that cantellope sized bump that was on Homminick's forehead, but nasty nonetheless.
