You seem very adamant that Chuck was a better player, possibly the best PF ever. I firmly believe Duncan is the best ever, and better than Sir Charles, who I would put at #3 or #4 on the All-Time PF list. I am wondering what makes Barkley better than Duncan in your mind. Go ahead, you get first argument...

I dont even care about this throwdown so what the he.ll.....

Honestly, I dont like the nba. So my opening arguement will be in the league he played in which is much better than the nba of today, charles was more feared more respected and worked harder. He had to work harder because of his size and lack of teammates. He never had Tony Longoria or MIcheal Finley or any number of the other all stars on his teams. Aside from his stint in Houston, but by that time they were all old and washed up.

You could have just declined man. Charles, the Round Mound of Rebound, worked harder than Duncan? Ok, that makes no sense. Everyone knows Duncan is one of the hardest working people and is very feared.

Barkley had All-Star team mates, like Kevin Johnson, Moses Malone, and Dr. J.

Next time just decline. I was looking for a real opinion or nothing.

Ok I'll give it the old college try. Charles got more out of his 6'4" chubby body than Duncan ever will out of his. You list some good teammates of his but, they are spread out over the course of 15+ years. I'm not saying Duncan doesnt work hard, he just doesnt to me strike fear in his opponents like Sir Charles did. I think his attitude is what draws me to him as a better PF, because I think of POWER when I think of charles, I just dont think that of Tim. Power vs. Finesse foward...

There you go. Legit argument.

While Barkley did perform more given his body, Duncan simply performs more. He is a far better defender than Sir Charles ever was as well.

Duncan leads his team to titles, and even if Jordan never existed Barkley would have only had one. Duncan already has four and will likely have at least one more.

While Duncan is more finesse than power, he has his fair share of power moves close to the basket.

Really Duncan is better all-around than Barkley, and a better winner.

I will say you have a point about the championships. Its hard to tell with the Jordan rule.As an all around person Duncan all day but, Barkley was a force 20 years from now when we are all old we will be able to tell stories of Barkley, can you say that of duncan? I dont think he's that interesting, good, but the big boring for a reason. Duncan doesnt come to mind when I think of flat out domination of a player. He doesnt have that umpf to him. When Barkley dunked or pushed people knew it.

Duncan is no question a better all round player. Charles had a good team in Phoenix and only made one finals appearance. I like Charles more but Duncan was a much better player. Also the PF position is the deepest right now than it ever was.

September 21, 2007  05:14 PM ET

More respected? Tim Duncan has LEAD his Spurs to 3 NBA championships. Sir Charles just talked a bunch of stuff. I can't stand that guy. Also, I think Duncan had a couple of MVPs didn't he?

September 21, 2007  05:16 PM ET

Duncan is way better.......Barkley doesnt even make the top 3.......

1. Duncan
1-a Garnett
3. Malone

September 21, 2007  05:17 PM ET

took the throw down cause he challenged me, i may not care, but i'm not gonna be called out for not showing....and that phoenix team wasnt near as good as s.a.

September 21, 2007  07:00 PM ET

Duncan is the best PF ever- but djrolxalot you have the top 3 wrong- it should be Duncan, Malone, Barkley

September 21, 2007  07:09 PM ET

You all got it wrong.

1. Duncan
2. Bob Pettit
3. Malone
4. Charles Barkley
5. Kevin McHale
6 KG

Pettit is far and away better than Malone and any other PF.
