1. Ruth to yanks..
2. Perkins to olklahoma
3. Reds send hamilton to rangers for freakin volquez..
4. 2005 reds send two .300 batters to washimgton for 2really bad relievers!..
5. Bronson arroyo for willy mo pena..
6. Suns go from being number one seed to gettin bounced 1st round cause they traded marrion for shaq..
7. I never liked the beckett for hanley ramirez trade.. Epstein would never had made this..
red sox would have had a pjenomenal short stop.. And could have got hot one year,.
cold the next beckett as a free agent..
8. Eric gagne.. Lights out as a dodger and ranger.. Then gets traded to red sox,.
for a rookie pitcher who started 4 and 0.. Gagne proceeds to stinl up the joint in beantown..
9. Steve nash.. Dallas to suns.. Why cuban why?????
10. Moss traded from pats to vikes.. He would have been.noice to have vs jets..

I would like to address 2 things 1st.

* This appears to be a "List 1st" TD, so I'll honor that.

* I agree with the comments below on so many ideas being brought to my attention before posting my argument.

Therefore, I will only use trades that hadn't been said, prior to me posting.

The following trades are all historically worse then at least 1 of yours.

* Dominique Wilkins, which actually was involved in 2 tragic 1-sided affairs. 1st with the Jazz/Hawks and then the Clippers/Hawks.

* Brett Favre in the Falcons/Packers trade.

* Steve Young in the Buccs/49ers.

* Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the Lakers/Bucks.

* "Shoeless" Joe Jackson in the Naps/White Sox.

Those 5 changes, along with any 5 of yours, gives me a better total list.

Before we go further, my thoughts about historically "bad" trades.

* These are almost always seen with hindsight bias. People tend to forget the circumstances at the time of the trade.

* Often, the player makes it known that they want out, leaving the trading team with less power of negotiation.

* Plus, is a "bad" trade where 1 team gets far more benefit, or when both teams strike out on the deal?

I really don't know.

Im down 7_0.. I surrender!!!!7!

A bad trade for one team is a good trade for another.

you are a weird dude

"9. Steve Nash.. Dallas to Suns.."

That wasn't a trade. Nash left in free agency.

That is one of the worst attempts at a list you've ever made HCF

May 13, 2011  11:03 AM ET

#1 has got to be Hershel Walker from Cowboys to Vikings! In 1989, at the height of his NFL career, the Cowboys traded Walker to the Minnesota Vikings for a total of five players (LB Jesse Solomon, DB Issiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard, DE Alex Stewart) and six draft picks (which led to Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson). This was judged to be one of the turning points in the rise of the Cowboys to the top echelon of the NFL. Clarification - worst trade ever for Vikings. Best trade ever for Cowboys. Walker played for the Vikings for two and a half years, never amassing 1,000 rushing yards in a season.

You must be from Boston. Because your #2 shouldn't even be on the list.

May 13, 2011  11:11 AM ET

Remember last year when people said the Eagles would regret trading Donovan McNabb to the Redskins?

How about them apples.

May 13, 2011  11:19 AM ET

There's one involving the Giants that needs to be on the list.

May 13, 2011  11:19 AM ET

The Bucks drafted Dirk, then traded him to Dallas for a Tractor.

The Mavs have been a playoff contender ever since.
The Bucks have been a #1 draft pick contender ever since.

Not within the Division! You have to face him twice! hehehe

May 13, 2011  11:30 AM ET

I know one that Cain and WWJ would agree with, involving a Giant and an Indian.

May 13, 2011  11:34 AM ET

The Bucks traded the greatest shooter in NBA history to the SuperSonics for an old ragged Glove.

May 13, 2011  11:37 AM ET

Terrible list
4: No clue who he is even talking about
5: Arroyo is a middling pitcher that Boston would have let walk anyways
7: Sox won Series with Beckett leading way
8: Gabbard (Gagne trade) did NOTHING for Texas and is back in minors for Boston. Gagne didn't help Boston but losing Gabbard didn't either.
10: Moss was useless by the time NE traded him and would not have helped any

May 13, 2011  11:39 AM ET

only a tad Boston-centric too
