Which Non-BSC team has the best chance of making a BCS Bowl game?

As much as I'd like to say Boise State, I'm going to have to go with Hawaii on this. Obviously, the main reason for this prediction is their Heisman canidate, Colt Brennan. The Record Setting QB will be back for his Senior Season. He threw for over 5,500 yards and 58 TD's compared to only 12 INT's. He had an incredible 185.96 QB Rating. Hawaii returns 3 starting receivers, 2 of which, Davone Bass and Jason Rivers, had over 1000 yards. Their O-Line only gave up a sack every 22 attempts last year, and will continue to be very good. The Defense returns 8 starters and will continue to show the improvement that they showed under Glanville. The only game that will be really tough for them is the Boise State game November 23 in Hawaii. I see Hawaii finishing the year undefeated and going to a BCS Bowl Game behind the Arm of Colt Brennan.

Hawaii is playing like Charleston Southern or something this week. They just play alot of schools like that, no real competition. Their QB puts up great stats, but reminds me of when Neil Lomax was throwing 14TD's a game for Portland State. Look at their competition.
Realistically, I don't think any non-BCS team will make one. I'll go with Air Force. Their off to an excellent start. They play a tougher schedule. If they can run the table or at least finish undefeated in MWC play.

Well, it's not like Hawaii is playing schools like that every week. Most people aren't aware of Hawaii's games, since they're always at, like, 11:00 on the East Coast. They do have just as tough a schedule as most non-BSC teams, though, as Boise State and Fresno State are both very respectable teams. They also play Utah, who has looked good so far this year. Hawaii was higher ranked at the beginning of the season than Air Force was, and, like I said, they are an extremely talented team.

Check your schedule Panthrfan. They play Utah STATE - who are hardly in Utah's class. Without getting into a WAC/MWC who's tougher debate, (MWC In my opinion) I'll just say the BCS would drool at the chance to get one of the Service Academies in one of their games. IF they can finish undefeated or nearly undefeated, which is unknown right now. Hawaii just doesn't have the draw to a BCS game like Air Force would. The Crowd they could have. The $ they could make. Air Force is a more attractive choice

Ok, I'm sorry about the Utah thing. Hmm. It really doesn't look like people agree with me on this one, but they should really hear me out. Hawaii is 25th right now, and they will only keep going up while people in front of them lose, and Colt Brennan keeps dominating. He has a good chance at winning the heisman if they go undefeated, and they would love to have the heisman trophy winner in a BSC Bowl. Who knows, they could upset like the Boise State's of last year.

There's plenty of QB's with gaudy stats at there to run for Heisman besides Brennan. Brennan just doesn't play any stiff competition. McFadden is avging 6 yards a carry. What about the QB for Kentucky? 11 TD's vs. 0 Int's? Playing Way better opponents. No. Brennan will not win Heisman unless everybody else gets hurt. Hawaii will not see BCS Bowl.

"As much as I'd like to say Boise State"

Why? They already lost. They needed to go undefeated to make a BCS Bowl Game. They have no shot now.

Yeah, I like hawaii. The pass heavy approach works very well with colt brennan at the helm

Report Offensive Comment

This is oddly familiar.

And Boise State is highly overrated. They got in last year because so many top schools lost, not because of them winning. Gotta go with Hawaii, though. I'll wait for the end till I vote, just in case.

my vote goes to thug......

I really just don't think any non-BCS team will make it this year. It will be difficult even for Air Force, with their young team and schedule. Mountain West conference games are brutally competitive. From top to bottom any team could on any given day, beat any of the other teams. I just don't think you can say that about the WAC.

Boston College is going to break into the BCS Bowl picture this year

Report Offensive Comment

Larry B.... keep up. The question is non BCS school I.E an ACC team doesn't qualify because you are a BCS Conference. Why might be a better question

Report Offensive Comment

While BC doesn't qualify, Larry B is right, BC has looked solid thus far.

My opponent isn't responding, so I'll have to wrap up my argument down here in the comments. It doesn't matter really if Air Force loses today to BYU (Which they might). No non-BCS team is going to make a BCS bowl this year. Hawaii plays a pretty creampuff schedule. The WAC is not as competetive as other conferences. Big #'s in your QB's stat line don't mean much when you're playing the likes of Charleston Southern, Northern Colorado and Louisiana Tech (Who they barely beat). Their toughest opponent this year is Washington, who will probably beat them. There are plenty of non-BCS bowl games that will love to have Hawaii play in them, but they aren't getting in the Big Ones.

Whose throwdown did he copy this from?

What do you mean Irish?

I've seen this throwdown before. I swear that the title and the first argument was in a Frat League Throwdown.

Yah, IrishR#1, I got the idea for this throwdown from the frat league. I was really out of ideas for a throwdown, and I thought this was a good argument for Hawaii, but apparently not. Hmm...

Utah State is worst team in NCAA fotball, 119th out of 119 I-A schools....They might wanna drop to I-AA

Mountain West and WAC are equal in terms of competition

West has BYU, Utah, Colorado St, Air Force and TCU historically are all very competitive while New Mexico, UNLV, SD State and Wyoming are at lower part of league

In WAC, Hawaii, Fresno St, Boise State are cream of the crop
